Chapter 466 - Chapter 467: Unknown

***

After spending the night at home, Kaida was once again ready to go on his second adventure, though Shisui had asked him once again to give cats or crows a second thought, telling him how awesome they can be.

Though when Kaida brought out the strength of the wolf leader he fought, Shisui left most ground in the argument. After asking for a leave from Reina, which he easily got with a promise to compensate for the missed time, Kaida was once again in the training area, standing in the concealment array he had created for this exact jutsu. After taking a calm breath, he started making one hand sign after another, really praying to meet the summon Toad Sage had talked about.

Poof

With smoke covering Kaida's body, he was once again traveling through space to a completely random location, coating his body in chakra just in case.

While Kaida was moving through space, Anbu ninja in Konoha were also scouting the whole village on Hokage's order, and among them, there was a certain Uchiha scanning an entire section alone.

"Finally, all targets caught," he muttered, looking toward the last person whose unconscious body he just shoved in the cell, and with how they reacted during all this, it didn't take him long to find out who they were.

After leaving the spies to the T&I department, Shisui made his way towards Shikaku's office. Normally, Anbu ninja only listen to Hokage orders, but for short periods of time, Hiruzen can very well transfer this control to others.

Knock, Knock

"Come in," a tired voice came from inside the office.

"I have completed the task, sir," Shisui reported. With his role as an Anbu at the moment, he couldn't show any lax behavior at all.

"Good. This is your next task. Some of the spies have managed to run away. They don't have much knowledge about the village, considering they were just genins, but I hope you will be able to disperse them before they could even try something," Shikaku said, not even trying to hide about the spy thing anymore, as he knew anyone with little practical knowledge would be able to join the pieces easily.

"Get away? I am sorry sir, but how were they able to run away when they were just Genin level ninjas?" Shisui asked, still maintaining the tone, but with his position as Anbu commander, he did have rights to ask his doubts.

"Simple, they were just officially Genin. In reality, they can easily be considered as Chunin, but to evade our tight screening, they never took the Chunin exam," Shikaku said, before going back to analyzing various reports present in front of him.

Even though Shisui had various doubts in his mind, like why they were dealing with the spies so suddenly—any major village can easily find the identity of spies with time, but that's the point, with time. If they removed every spy in the village, other villages will just add more in the mix, and they will not be identified till they made any wrong move.

As having known spies is always better than having unknown ones, Shisui, being the top-level ninja in the village, obviously knew this hidden knowledge war among the villages. So if Konoha was dealing with so many spies, there had to be a rational reason for this.

With that belief in his mind, Shisui left the village in pursuit of some spies on the run, while other Anbu were dealing with small-time spies in the village.

And no info about this was sent out of the village, especially because of the tight control Shikaku was maintaining. Many ninja were placed all around the border of the village just to make sure none of the messages about this purging left the village.

While all of this was happening because a certain someone decided to save an orphan boy from the hands of one of the most dangerous ninja in the world, that certain someone was now teleporting to a completely different corner of the world in search of his new summon.

Bloop

'What the hell?' Kaida was expecting everything but not this. When he got to know that he would be teleported randomly, he never thought it could ever be inside the sea.

How he knew it was the sea, and not some lake or anything, was because of the salty water he inhaled through his nose. After a moment of panic, he remembered that he was a ninja and was more than capable of holding his breath for half an hour or more. With that in mind, Kaida started searching the surroundings in hope to find someone, though all he could see around him were some small or medium-sized fishes and other exquisite sea animals he had never seen in his life, all fascinating but nothing summon-worthy.

Kaida's search was suddenly halted as a cold, primal fear gripped his chest like a vice. His instincts didn't whisper—they screamed, clawing at his mind like a thousand sharp warnings. Something was here. Not just dangerous. Something ancient. Wrong. The kind of wrong that no jutsu, no training, no Sharingan could fully prepare him for.

His heartbeat pounded against his ribs, too loud, too fast. The water around him seemed to thicken, becoming syrupy and slow as he turned in place. A feeling pressed down on him—not just being watched, but measured.

Then, he saw it.

The seafloor, which stretched endlessly beneath him, shifted—not subtly, not slowly, but like a mountain shrugging off eons of sleep. What he thought was coral and stone unfurled into flesh. And then... an eye.

Not a normal eye—an abyssal, otherworldly thing, the size of a building, burning with awareness. It blinked once, and in that blink, Kaida felt like the universe itself narrowed its gaze upon him.

For one terrifying second, Kaida forgot he could breathe chakra. Forgot he was a ninja. Forgot everything except one thought screaming louder than his instincts:

"I should not be here."

Kaida used MS to cast the strongest genjutsu he could on the creature below. Thankfully, it fell for it, looking in the wrong direction as it saw Kaida in the opposite direction from where he actually was.

Kaida didn't waste a second and started forming hand signs to go back to Konoha. Just before he teleported, his Sharingan captured a massive tentacle moving with unnatural speed toward where the titan considered Kaida was, and—

Poof

A drenched Kaida was standing in the array he had created. His breathing was ragged and thoughts turbulent.

'There is no way I can share this with anyone until I get my summon. There is no way brother will ever allow me to use this jutsu if I did,' Kaida thought, while he was also now giving crows a second thought.

Maybe they were his fated summons?

'No, one last time. One last try before going with the obvious choice,' Kaida mentally prepared himself, ready for one last round. After drying his clothes with a small burst of hot wind, Kaida was ready for the second round.

After calming his mind, he started making hand seals once again, and—

Poof

Kaida popped into a random place once again, but unlike previous times, where he was teleported to rocky terrain and sea, this time it was an extremely beautiful yet dangerous-looking mountain range. With his Sharingan active in case of any threats, Kaida could see thousands of meters all around him.

Which had nothing but flora and fauna, some even new to him, like a rabbit with canines and a horn on its forehead, something that shouldn't exist in nature—but here it was.

"Am I in the wrong place once again?" Kaida muttered after scanning the surroundings for something—anything dangerous.
