Long ago, many years had passed since the battle between the devil, and the chaos demon. The imp type demon would find himself saving a young demon from a fire golem. Confused on why someone so young, and weak would travel there. After hearing the demon's objective, he immediately thought of the perfect opportunity for the both of them.
Maestro was astonished to see that all the devil bones were gone. He wanted to celebrate, but he was still too injured to move any further. He looks around, noticing that the flames from the ring of fire were slowly fading away. He was lost for words seeing this, but shortly after he sees Rex walking towards him. The two stare at each other without a word being said. The silent pressure was tense, and it made Maestro feel uneasy. Rex had a blank, but serious expression. Maestro on the other hand was highly concerned for his safety.
A couple of seconds past, and Maestro had no choice other than waiting for Rex's next move. To his surprise though, Rex had simply turned around, and began to walk off. Maestro was shocked, and confused at the same time. He felt uncertainty as the chaos demon actually sparred him. A deep sense of relief rushed through his body. He was able to breathe normally afterwards. He then yells out to Rex. He thanks him for everything. Even if it felt weird to say, Maestro had to sum it up. Rex never was the type to endure long conversations.
Rex had stopped, and looked back at Maestro. He grunted with annoyance, and told him to shut up. He stated that his beef was never with Maestro, but the devil. In the end they both needed each other's help to fully get rid of the devil's influence. It was at that moment that Maestro asked the question. He asked Rex why he chose him. He always wondered what made him so special. Rex's eyes showed emotions of confusion, and irritation. He faced forward then after a second of thought, he laughed. He turns around while telling Maestro that he has no idea, and couldn't care less. He's strong, and that was all that mattered.
Maestro was baffled hearing this. He tried to rebuttal, but he was struggling to find the words. Rex cuts him off by stating that it was Makeshift that came to him first. Stating that it was Makeshift that wanted a devil bone. Following up by implying on how simple it was. At least for him. He explains how many have tried to pass the ring of fire, and failed. However, Makeshift didn't. Maestro gets annoyed with the constant used of his former name, but he keeps it within his thoughts. Rex concluded his explanation, stating that Makeshift had reminded him of when he was younger. Rex then thinks to himself. About how it felt back then. Like reality was against him, and that he was alone. Seeing Makeshift back then, he most likely was feeling the same way. He then realized he was lost in thought, and began to laugh it off.
Maestro was lost for words hearing his explanation. It wasn't a concrete answer like he wanted, but it was better than nothing. Rex's laughing dies down as he turns back around. With one final look he tells him to not do anything stupid, or he would kill him again. Maestro smiles nervously as he nods his head in agreement. Rex starts walking away once again. While doing so, he tells Makeshift to have fun being the new devil. Hearing that made Maestro eyes widened. He was beyond baffled, but too confused to be speechless. He yelled out for Rex to wait. He then questions Rex on why he had to be the new devil. Stating that Rex himself would be a much better pick. He looked down with low morale stating that he knew nothing about being a devil. Rex didn't respond at all. He only chuckled as he kept walking. Passing through the dying flames of the fire wall that was the ring of fire.
Maestro tried to fully stand, but he ended up falling back down. He looked up to see that the ring of fire had fully disappeared, and Rex was no longer in sight. Maestro rolled over to see the red atmosphere, covering up the rocky ceiling. Maestro didn't know what to do next. So many suppressed thoughts started to reemerged, and overwhelmed him. It had been a while since Maestro could think clearly. Looking up, he mentioned how he missed the skies in earth. He then questions his new position once again. How can someone like him rule over hell. Suddenly, he hears something in the distance. Something that immediately pulls out of his internal struggles.
He hears a voice tell him to get up. That him lying there all vulnerable like that is embarrassing. The voice was familiar. However, Maestro had high doubts. He looked up, and was stunned immediately. Tears start to form from his eyes as the voice congratulates him on at least surviving this time. Maestro wipes his tears away, and tells Sylvester that he thought he was dead. Sylvester laughs at the thought. He then asked why Maestro would think of such a thing. He responded that he saw him burn right in front of him. Sudden realization hits him which causes him to laugh even more. Sylvester told Maestro that he was an idiot for thinking he would actually run through the ring of fire. Maestro was confused, and pointed out that Sylvester definitely did run inside the fire wall. He then explained to Maestro that during their walk, he made a clone of himself, and hid off. Following from a distance. He also states that he had to put a lot of energy into that clone so it didn't break down so easily.
Maestro was conflicted. He was happy about seeing Sylvester alive, but upset at him for faking his death. Sylvester stated that he needed the morale boost. Also stating that he's done worse, and Maestro would be alright. Maestro looked at him with an annoyed expression as Sylvester told him to get over it. Maestro then states that he has too much on his mind to worry about him. Sylvester's curiosity rose as he asked about their next plan of action. Maestro stated that he didn't know. He was shocked to be labeled as the new devil, and had no idea where to start. Sylvester's eyes widened, he was surprised to hear Maestro's new position. Knowing that he wouldn't give himself a title like that. Sylvester knew it was the chaos demon who gave him the title. He starts to chuckle as he creates a shopping cart. He then picked up Maestro, and placed him in the cart. He tells Maestro not to overthink it. It was his first day, and things would fall smoothly into place over time. He starts pushing the cart as Maestro thinks to himself. He then tells Sylvester that he doesn't want the others to refer to him as the new devil. He wants that title to die alongside the old one. Sylvester then asked what he had in mind. Maestro paused for a moment before answering with a simple, king. He wanted the demons to acknowledge him as the king of hell. Sylvester laughed then stated that they could make it happen. With his new status that would be the least of his problems. Maestro took a deep breath to relieve his anxiety, and he starts laughing the stress away. The two continued to laugh as they leave the area. Getting ready for the next step of their journey.
