Hello, everyone. Hope you all are doing well in this new year. Hope you all find success in life and love in the coming year and emerge as a better person than you were yesterday. And I hope the same for myself.
So, bad news first. There is no new chapter today. We just finished Volume Three yesterday and I thought we would take a little break to digest everything we have seen up till now.
More bad news — I have run out of my stock of saved chapters with the insane upload speed of 2 chapters/day. From now on, 2 chapters will be uploaded every week on Wednesdays and Sundays. If I can't make it on Wednesday, then barring unforeseen circumstances, the chapter will surely be uploaded on Thursday.
Each chapter will be atleast 3k words in length. I'm hoping for 25k words a month, so I can make 300k, like last year.
Now, I want to say a few things to clear up some issues that some of you might have:
1. Yes, I use ChatGPT.
I am a High School teacher with a 9-3 job, 6 days a week, with a couple of regular tutoring gigs on the side. I have a lot of ideas, but between taking classes, giving tests, checking those tests, exam duties, extracurricular stuff, I have almost zero free time.
I don't have the time to just sit and write peacefully as I used to when I started writing this story. At the same time, I don't want to abandon this story as it is my first, and writing it has done wonders for my confidence and motivation. So, yes, I use ChatGPT. Not for all of it, of course. Anyone who has read this story will be able to tell that I write almost all the dialogues myself, as well as all the plot points.
I just use AI to enhance and polish the narrative, especially the descriptive bits. If you have a problem with that, then please don't make a fuss and graciously take your leave. I'm sure there are multitudes of other, much better stories for you to read out there.
2. About the Romance:
How old were you when you had your first crush?
I remember my first crush quite clearly, even though it's been a decade since I saw her last. I was 14 at the time, and we were in the same class. Unfortunately, things didn't go the way I had hoped they would have.
But my point is, in a co-ed school, most people have their first experience with attraction and romance around that time. Which is what happened in this story.
Otherwise, what's the point of going to school, especially for a reincarnator—if not to develop relationships? Why not just skip the whole school arc and start as an adult? If you are looking for something like that, this story is not your cup of tea.
I have always liked Hermione's character when I read the books, and I think Emma Watson performed it to perfection in the movies. Hermione's character complements Ben's well — she has McGonagell's strictness to counter Ben's Dumbledore-ishness.
A reader that I don't care to name said that it made him sick to see a 45 year old man in a relationship with a 15 year old girl. To you, I ask — where the hell did you find that the MC is 45 years old? If you are talking about before his death, he was in his twenties at the time. And right now, he is in a 15 year old body with the appropriate hormones and biological functions.
Is your sad, twisted mind adding those years up to somehow justify that the MC should only hook up with women of his age-group — like housewives and mature women? If it is, then you need help, pal.
I will not say much about the romance stuff, except that it is not a harem. For now, I have two female leads in mind, kind of like a throuple. The number may increase by one more, but if it does, it will be atleast 100-150 chapters down the line.
The maximum number of female lovers will be three, not more — I can guarantee that. Again, if you are looking for a story with a single female lead, then please don't waste your time and kindly leave.
3. About Benjamin Carter:
As you will see soon, he is a guy with a wish. A wish for a place of his own, for a people of his own, for something that he can proudly show his friends and say — "I built this".
As you have seen from The Hobbit fights, he doesn't hog the spotlight. Instead he enhances his friends, the heroes. He doesn't want to be a hero. He will be the teacher of heroes. He doesn't wish to be a king. He will be the Kingmaker.
He is kind, yet with the capacity for ruthlessness. He cares for innocent life, but will not hesitate to absolutely destroy scumbags. He treats people the way they deserve to be treated. He is not so insecure that he feels the need to be petty or put others down so he can feel superior himself.
He is not entirely altruistic. He wants to help people, but he will not travel across worlds only for the sake of helping. He went to Middle-Earth for Smaug's corpse and for Mithril. While there, he helped the heroes.
That will be the theme of this story. Except a few times when he travels because someone—usually a child, is calling for help, almost every world he travels to — like Star Trek, Halo, The Blacklist, MCU — he will have a purpose for going there, as you will see.
I want to make this story as believable as possible, which is why I didn't incorporate something as blase as a System or a Gacha, that keeps spouting rewards out of its ass. The MC will have to work and plan for power. At the same time, it is a story with an Overpowered MC, which means the MC will usually have to plan ahead to handle unexpected situations.
Lastly, as I stated before, the MC is not a loner. In this story, I'm spending so much time on relationships because I want to do something that I have never seen done before in an HP crossover story. When he finally creates his home, MC will not go there alone, or even with just his girlfriends.
Instead, he will travel with all his friends and family. And they will not just sit idly there. They will all work together to create a new, better Wizarding city/nation/world there.
Alright, enough said. Not gonna give out anymore spoilers and ruin the story for you fine folks. All I will say is that — it's gonna be a blast. Sit tight, enjoy, and pray that I don't drop dead and am forced to abandon this story.
