Chapter 291 Bread And Ripples
When Kai finished drinking, he commented, "This is a strange way to drink." He curiously poked at the ball of water, fully expecting it to seep onto his hand. However, that didn't happen because of Aleshia's control over the water. Instead, his touch created ripples that cascaded through the water ball. The fascinating sight captivated both him and Aleshia, who remarked, "I hadn't expected this."
Aleshia wanted to test the different possible patterns on the surface of the waterball, so she created another orb to experiment with. She tossed the orb into the air and began manipulating it, causing it to ripple and creating various patterns. After playing with it for a while, she returned to his earlier question, "I know it seems unusual. You have to drink it this way because, right now, you're not able to drink from a cup without the risk of choking. I thought this method would be safer for you."
Kai only needed to think about the possibilities for a moment before he agreed. "That sounds... I understand." After he said that, he began to feel parched. Although it was strange, he continued to drink from the orb, now with a new understanding of his circumstances.
After Aleshia found a way for Kai to quench his thirst, she began to think about food. She remembered that she had restocked her food stores and took out the food she had brought back. She considered giving him the skewers she had, but realized that the chunks of meat might not be good for Kai to eat since he had just woken up and was still very weak. As a compromise, Aleshia checked her bag and found some soft food that would be easier on his stomach.
Aleshia brought out some bread filled with a savory paste and tore it into bite-sized pieces so it would be easy for Kai to eat and gentle on his stomach. When she handed it to him, he stared at the bread, then cautiously smelled it. After this brief test, he eagerly began to eat. It seemed he didn't realize just how hungry he was until he took his first bite and exclaimed in joy, "This tastes so wonderful!" He then started devouring the pieces one by one.
As Kai fell into a feeding frenzy, he soon realized that eating so quickly wouldn't be good for him. He paused to drink some water, hoping to calm himself down, and began to pace himself before taking his next bite. Aleshia kept supplying him with more bread, offering him a few varieties before she intervened, saying, "I think that will be enough for now. After all, your body still needs to rest and recover."
