Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Keep it on the leash

CARTER

"That bloodsucking demon must have lost his mind" Kirko said and signaled us to look at the hospital entry way. He's about to move where he stood when I stop him from walking towards the pale man holding cooled transit container. We all know what that means.

"Dylan never needed to go this far for supply..." I said.

"Maybe that's not for him, maybe that's for his brother" Evan said. Kirko nodded. Kirko has always been in the wrong foot with these type of person. A family member of him, died in the hands of his kind. Never ever, Kirko has been the same as before. He just want to go and kill each one of them. He want to kill each of them, by his own hands. But of course, no amount of strength can kill someone like them all at once.

Dylan's lips quirk up just before he get into his car seat and look at me. We both have good eyesight. Even from this far. He knows it. This damn bastard. I didn't react. If Kirko saw that, I don't know if I can stop him from clawing his damn face.

"Let's go?" We looked up when we heard a soft voice from someone who just came out the same door Dylan walked out.

"Kyla..." Kirko said and smiled at her.

"Carter..." instead, Kyla looked straight to me and about to hold me in my arms when I immediately open the car door and signal both men to get in. Kyla's about to seat in the front seat when I signal Kirko to get first. He's my beta and no one's going to have the right to sit beside me, except my Luna or my Beta.

"So, uhm. I just got to know something spicy..." Kyla started the conversation and started blabbing about something I'm not interested in. We are on our way to Kyla's home when I heard Evan growled.

"What's that?" I asked. I step on the break and stop the car. Evan didn't even answer my question and just jump out of the car.

"What the fuck is that?" Kyla said as she look where Evan is going. He run off inside one of the house. I get off the car and look around. The white wooden fence is broken. Evan just run and forced open the poor wooden fence and ran off inside the house.

"Tell me this isn't something I should be worried about" I asked Kirko who just got off the car. He firmly said no.

"Whose house is this?" Kyla asked.

"Evan's girlfriend" Kirko said.

"And?" Kyla asked. My ears perked up when I heard Evan breaking something inside the house. I cursed under my breath. Fuck it.

"Stay in the car, Kyla. Wait here with Kirko. I'll check Evan. If something happens, go back and tell the elders" I said, restraining myself to put my fangs out in the daylight. I walk slowly, checking if there's someone inside with Evan or if the owner is in here. Once I caught to sniff some blood--I started calling Evan's name.

"Evan!" I called his name. I found Evan, inside a colorful room with a broken door. He must've kick the door to strong that he should have.

"She's gone!" He said. Shouting.

"Calm down, what did you see?" I asked. The glass window is broken. I walk closely and sniff if I could pick up some scent left.

"I came here running, after I manage to break the door something threw me off the wall and I--"

"Shhhh...we are going to find her" I said to Evan, reassuring him. He shut his mouth and try to calm down. I looked at his eyes, he's about to shapeshift if I didn't stop him in the right time. This house is not that far from innocent human neighbors, I don't think I'd want to handle things like that right now. Or ever.

"We have to go and settle this case first" I said and put on my speed dial. We left the house after I called to an elder. Thank heavens, Evan's girlfriend is one of us. If not, it will surely turn ugly. We report what happened to elder and they order to start looking for Lily. We also notified Lily's parents who's away from this city.

We went back driving again to escort Kyla into her home. These case about the missing people is skyrocketing is giving me a headache. This isn't just someone who's a killer. A human killer. It's not. That killer for surely can't take Lily that easy. There is no signs that the person who break into her house is more than one. There's just one scent. And that doesn't seems a good. That person is not from here. He or she is not a familiar scent.

---

Three days ago.

I'm about to swing my axe when sense some uninvited guess. I looked up and it didn't disappoint me.

"What the hell did the devil did to make you walk here in your own? you wanna die today?" I said, sarcastically. I heard one of them chuckled. West' brother is here. Two of them. Lorenzo and Dylan.

"It's fancy seeing you.." Lorenzo said, like an old man himself.

"There's no fancy in that" I said. Dylan just laugh. Like the devil he is. "You know what's funny? me, swinging this axe to your pale face" I said almost letting my fangs show. I show them how pretty the axe I'm holding.

"Hmm, what a barbaric young man" Lorenzo mouthed to Dylan and looked at me. Dylan just shrugged it and look at me in the eyes.

"Keep your dogs on their leash properly" Dylan said. No smile. No smirk. Just cold dead. I growled.

"The fuck did you say?" I cursed. No more holding back. We are in our territory.

"Always remember, this is where we stand" Lorenzo said and point at his feet. He's in out in the asphalt.

"You should be thankful you'll not heading home holding a headless body" I said directly to Lorenzo. Dylan snickered.

"May the heaven humbles your arrogant self, barbaric beast" Dylan said and looked at me.

"Says the dead cold body who sucks" I said. I started to get back bucking some tree logs.

"Whatever" Dylan shrugged.

Clink.

I looked at the thing he threw to the ground. A tribe bracelet. This isn't from us.

"Always keep your pups in check, will you?" Dylan said giving me the cold look.

I picked up the bracelet and froze when I got a whiff of the familiar scent.
