Chapter 15 - Invasion(1)

Ashiro floated above Kinko, radiating with a large, and vast amount of revenant. "I would've thought Kodak couldn't even fight the weakest of you all, but he seems to have broken my expectations."

He then scratched his head as he looked at Kodak's passed out body. "Well, up until he got sloppy with his revenant usage. Maybe this is why Principle Akira wanted me alert."

Kinko then bolted out across the school grounds, fueling himself with a golden glow of revenant. "I have to run from him!" He thought to himself desperately. "I've got no chance!"

But as he raced further, and further a sudden dense, and sturdy wall of stone erupted from the ground. Kinko's face smashed bluntly into the wall, and Ashiro then spoke out to him.

"Leaving so soon?" He chuckled. "I thought we could get to know one another better!"

[Blazing Firestorm has been selected!]

Kinko's eyes widened in fear as orange and red flames blasted from Ashiro's hands. He tried dodging, but the flames were too great. Too fast, too strong, and too damn unstoppable.

"WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU HERE!?" Kinko yelled again with a terrified look.

Ashiro shook his head--his smile shifted from an overconfident look, to a cold stare. "It's simple," He said in a cold and blunt tone. "I was the back up in case he went too far, or if he lost."

He then gazed at Kodak's unconscious body. "And it seems he lost, so now I have to step in as his upper classmate!"

The flames then lit up in Ashiro's hands again, the mix of orange and red flames pulsed violently. Kinko's eyes stared erratically at the flames, sensing the power those mere flames had. The power wielded by Ashiro.

"Stay out of this." A voice called out.

Ashiro's eyes then widened. "What!?" His head jerked around, seeing that Kodak was still standing.

"Well, I didn't expect this." Ashiro expressed with an impressed look on his face.

Blood dripped from Kodak's wounds. The echo state he had entered, was still activated. His black eyes light up with a darkened blue.

His hand then shoves Ashiro out of the way. "MOVE."

Ashiro stumbles a bit, but doesn't fall. His face then twitches in annoyance. "Make me then." He taunts.

But Kodak walks past him, staring angrily at Kinko. "Just stay out of my fight. Even if you're some high and mighty council president."

Ashiro then grabbed Kodak's arm as he tried passing him. "Don't even try to act prideful. You have less than 10% of your current revenant pool. Along with countless open wounds, and a left arm that is broken."

Kodak squeezed his right hand tightly. "I don't care!" He then pulled his arm from Ashiro grip, and began running towards Kinko.

But as Kodak ran across he felt a quick touch around the middle of his neck, and shoulder. His world then went black, and he fell immediately to the ground.

---

5 hours later...

Kodak slowly opened his eyes, seeing two figures in front of him. "Where am I?" He muttered softly. He could barely see cause of his eyes adjusting to the bright lights.

"The infirmary," A voice spoke out. "though the doctors said you should've been asleep for a couple more hours."

Kodak then sat up, seeing Ashiro, Fumiko, and even Kohaku. "The hell are the council leaders doing here?"

But before he got an answer, Fumiko jumped into his bed and hugged him tightly. It kind of hurt a little.

"What were you thinking, you idiot!" Fumiko yelled while crying into his shirt. "You could've been killed against Azar's group!"

Kodak's eyes then softened as Fumiko cried. "Please don't cry, Fumiko." His tone was gradually getting softer, and his arms tightly embraced around her back.

"I know I was a big idiot, I'm sorry."

Fumiko then softly nuzzled into Kodak's chest. "It's okay, I forgive you."

"Ahem!" Ashiro grunted loudly. "We need to talk with him real quick."

Fumiko then rolled her eyes in annoyance. "Fine, but you better not take long. And Kodak."

"Yes?" He replied.

"Don't be rude." Fumiko chuckled softly.

Kodak then smirked while waving at Fumiko exiting the door. "No promises!" He jokingly said.

The door gently closes, leaving Kodak with Ashiro and Kohaku. "So, what do you want?" He asked.

"Show him." Ashiro said while gesturing.

A small tablet was then pulled from Kohaku's bookbag, revealing a scan of Kodak's body.

"Am I suppose to know what that is?" Kodak said bluntly.

Kohaku then stared at him, slightly annoyed. "It's a scan of your revenant's physical aspect." She then pointed towards the center of his body, showing a singular glowing revenant core.

"An average revenant user would be able to create 1-3 cores."

"Yeah what about it?" Kodak said while slightly confused.

Kohaku then sighed a breath of annoyance. "Your kinetic energy core, and revenant core have fused completely together. Normally, fusion between two types of cores would be impossible. You know why?"

"Yeah," Kodak said confidently. "It's cause the usages would usually overlap, leading to a blockage between the cores. It clog the user's body so badly that they would theoretically explode from their own revenant. Thus, killing them slowly, and painfully."

Kohaku then nodded her head as Kodak finished his explanation. "Exactly," she said. "your body should have shutdown on itself. It that was even more prevalent with you using up that energy pool."

Kodak then raised his eyebrows in shock. "Wait a damn minute," he said while raising his hands. "what you're telling me, is that I have created a completely way of shaping revenant cores with an energy-based technique?!"

Kohaku then nodded her head. "This creation of your cores fusing together is an anomaly in itself. Hell, during that brief moment when you created those purple flames was even more impossible. You were literally igniting your own kinetic energy ablaze!"

Kodak's eyes then glared sharply at Kohaku. "How do you know about my flames?"

"I was watching from afar, just like Ashiro was." Kohaku replied, unfazed by Kodak's glare. "You're not the only one who can hide their revenant."

Kodak then frowned at Kohaku. "So, you guys just gonna downplay me all day?" He said in a sarcastic tone.

Ashiro shook his head. "Kohaku might not show it, but she cares about everyone in this school."

Kohaku then smirked a little but, but not enough for Kodak to see. "I mean he did cause a bit of trouble with trying to find him." She said to Ashiro."

"Oh, that's right!" Ashiro said with an impressed look. "Kodak was so proficient at being stealthy that not even you, or me could sense him!"

Ashiro then got really close to Kodak's face, very intrigued with him. "How did you ever get to do that level of stealth!?"

"My uncle." Kodak replied. "Kenzo Kawanari."

Ashiro and Kohaku's eyes quickly opened widely. "KENZO KAWANARI!?" They both shouted loudly, almost scaring Kodak right from his bed.

"He's the first person within the modern era of revenant to have obtained a revenant realm!" Ashiro shouted loudly.

Kohaku then spoke up. "Don't forget that he was able to stop the 'Violent Patrollers" along with having a broken arm, and leg!"

Kodak then smiled to himself while thinking about his beloved uncle. "He really was unbeatable." He thought to himself.

"I even remembered the day I saw that fight." Kodak began thinking back to a strong, yet humble memory of his uncle.

Rubble and debris stretched across a large portion of Seoul. But beneath that destruction, and havoc was a single man.

Kenzo tensed his hand, punching the rubble high, and away into the sky. He then started climbing through the opening he had created.

A golden glow from the sun then shined down on Kenzo, revealing a younger Kodak shielded between his arms.

Kodak's eyes then widened as a flying figure shot down from above. "LOOK OUT!" He cried to his uncle.

But Kenzo just smiled, and a shield of revenant shielded Kodak. His fist then started glowing a bright teal as his opponent charged at him.

[Innate Skill: Gale-force Shockwave activated!]

Gusts of dense wind pressure coated around Kenzo's entire right arm. And as Kodak fled through the rubble, he saw a tornado burst from his uncle's arm as he punched up into the air.

Kodak then came back to the present day, smiling. "My uncle was unstoppable." He said out loud.

"Did anyone even come close to him?" Ashiro asked curiously.

"Nope," Kodak said while shaking his head. "not even my father, Shiro Kawanari could do anything beyond a tie."

Ashiro and Kohaku's eyes then widened once more. "Is he really related to them?!" Ashiro murmured to himself.

Kodak then spoke up once more after a couple minutes have passed. "Can I go home now?" He asked impatiently.

Kohaku then nodded her head. "Yeah, but don't come back to school after 2 days."

"Why?" Kodak asked with a puzzled look.

"Cause you're injured, ya idiot." Kohaku chuckled.

Kodak then frowned at her. "Whatever."

The next day, 10:05 AM...

Kodak sat atop his bed, still feeling his injured body as tossed and turned in his bed. "Dammit," He muttered aggressively. "I thought I was getting stronger?!"

He then gazed at a dark blue flower pot. It contained red spider lilies, and a written message within the paper.

"Hey, Kodak! Hope you are feeling better. Me, Kohaku, and even Ashiro put together this gift for you. Also he says if you are feeling disheartened, then just train!"

The bottom of the paper was signed: The people who care, and appreciate for you.

Kodak wanted to smash the flower pot, but when he saw that the message was mostly written from Fumiko he stopped instantly.

"Son of a bitch." He muttered to himself.

Kodak walked across the house, from to the hallway leading to his bedroom--to the living room. But as he traced across the living room a noise echoed from outside his house.

Rustling from what seemed to be coming from the bushes on the right-side of the house. The system then started blaring in Kodak's head.

[WARNING WARNING!]

Kodak fell his knees, screaming in pain as his hands gripped his own head tightly. "GAHH!!!"

His eyes then widened as he saw the system's message.

[WARNING: COMBAT SENSORY IS DETECTING TWO DANGEROUS REVENANT USER!]

Kodak then immediately stood up, with his breathing become increasingly heavy. "Where are you bastards!?" He thought to himself with a focused look.

He then turned his head to the left, seeing that the front door burst into a pile of splinters. And what walked through the door was a man and woman about a few years older than him.

"Who the hell are you?" Kodak said out loud in a firm, yet calm tone.

The blonde-haired man then smirked. "Ren, but you won't remember such useless things when you're dead!"

Kodak then watched a barrage of dark tendrils were launched at him. A blue glow then radiated around the room as he prepared for Ren's assault.

"TRY DODGING THIS!" Ren yelled as his hands then became a murky black.

Kodak stood his ground, as the multitude of tendrils launched him. His fists then started glowing a dark shade of blue as the tendrils flew fiercely through the air.

[Innate Skill: Siphoning Charge is building up strength!]

Kodak then punched the first tendril, and failed his left fist to his left side. This loop of black tendrils, and Kodak's fists imbued with revenant collide for a couple of seconds.

But once the 50th tendril was destroyed. Kodak felt his body surging with kinetic energy throughout his pathways.

[Innate Skill: Tenfold Burst activated!]

Ren tried sending more tendrils, only for them to be destroyed in a surprising burst of new energy.

"Is that it?" Kodak smirked as he walked through the crumbling tendrils.

Ren scoffed at Kodak. "Damn, she was right. You are more overconfident than I thought."

[Innate Skill: Darkened Haze activated!]

Kodak's eyes then widened as the entire living room filled smoke. He jumped, and ran through the smoke, only for him to trip over the nearby coffee table.

"SHIT!" He screamed in his head. "I can't see anything but this damn smoke!"

Kodak then stood up, radiating with a new solution.

[Innate Skill: Pulsing Aura activated!]

A dark blue then started shining through the smoke, and Kodak's vision started coming back to him rather quickly. But as he turned over to look, a fast crimson spear was flung at him dangerously.

Kodak then shifts his body to side as the spear grazes his arm. He then noticed the white-haired woman was running straight at him with some type of red knife, probably no bigger than a hunting knife.

But as she lunged at Kodak with the knife, causing him to raise his left forearm to block the knife. But as the weapon made contact it shattered completely. The woman's face soon turned into shock, and she was immediately meant with a strong punch to the jaw.

[Innate Skill: Tenfold Burst activated strongly!]

The woman fell face first into the ground, sending her straight through the wooden floorboards. Kodak then lunged forward as a blade manifested through his palms as he clapped them together, creating a blade slightly larger than a butcher's knife.

Ren attempted to jump back as Kodak lunged swiftly towards him. He starting sending out tendrils, with various weapons, items. Mainly to throw Kodak off his path.

But that was useless as Kodak charge midair, as the cluttered items were instantly shattered, and broken upon impact.

He then stood over Ren with a grin. "Like I said, is that all?"

Ren then smirked at him with arrogance. "You sure about that?"

A red sword then stabbed directly through Kodak, making fall to the ground. And there stood that white-haired woman. She wore a bloodied, and psychotic grin. "DIE!" She screamed violently.
