Chapter 35 - The Dark King's Visit‎

[Xefer's POV]

‎

‎The sea was calm again, the Marine ship drifting in ruins behind them. The girls stood proudly on the deck of The Viser, their victory fresh, their laughter still echoing. Kiruko's fortress walls had held strong, and Xefer had fished through the chaos as if nothing had happened.

‎

‎Then came the voice.

‎

‎"What are kids like you doing on the sea?"

‎

‎The crew froze. The words carried weight, authority, and a strange warmth. They turned, scanning the horizon. And there he was.

‎

‎A man stood on a small boat, drifting effortlessly toward them. His hair was silver, his eyes sharp yet kind, his presence commanding. He wore simple clothes, but his aura was unmistakable.

‎

‎Silvers Rayleigh. The Dark King. Vice Captain of the Roger Pirates.

‎

‎Keala's flames flickered nervously. "Rayleigh…"

‎

‎Keeva's grin faltered, her eyes wide. "The Dark King himself."

‎

‎Kunai's blades trembled faintly in her grip. "What's he doing here?"

‎

‎Kiruko clutched her satchel, her breath catching. "He's… legendary."

‎

‎Xefer's expression remained calm, but his eyes gleamed with recognition. "So. He's finally shown himself."

‎

‎---

‎

‎[Rayleigh's POV]

‎

‎Rayleigh's boat bumped gently against The Viser. He looked up, his grin wide, his laughter booming. "So, this is the crew making noise on the sea. You've got spirit."

‎

‎Xefer stepped forward, his voice cheerful, his grin sharp. "Rayleigh! What an honor. Welcome."

‎

‎Rayleigh chuckled, his eyes twinkling. "Honor, eh? You've got guts, greeting me like that. Tell me, am I invited aboard your fine ship?"

‎

‎Xefer's grin widened. "Of course. You're welcome here." He winked at the girls, his voice playful. "Get us snacks and drinks. We've got a guest."

‎

‎Keala laughed, her flames flickering. "On it."

‎

‎Keeva smirked, her fire dancing at her fingertips. "I'll make something warm."

‎

‎Kunai sheathed her blades, her aura calm. "I'll bring the wine."

‎

‎Kiruko hesitated, then smiled faintly. "I'll prepare tea."

‎

‎Rayleigh climbed aboard, his movements effortless. He looked around, his grin widening. "The Viser, huh? Fine ship. Feels alive."

‎

‎Xefer nodded. "It's ours. Our home. Our fortress on the sea."

‎

‎Rayleigh chuckled, settling onto the deck. "You've got ambition. I like that. But ambition alone won't carry you through the Grand Line."

‎

‎Xefer sat across from him, his voice calm but cheerful. "True. That's why I've got them." He gestured to the girls, who bustled about preparing food and drink. "Family. Strength. Resolve."

‎

‎Rayleigh's eyes twinkled. "Good answer."

‎

‎---

‎

‎[Keala's POV]

‎

‎Keala's hands trembled slightly as she arranged the snacks. The Dark King. The man who had sailed with the Pirate King himself. And he was sitting on their ship, drinking their tea.

‎

‎"Are you okay?" Kiruko asked, her voice soft.

‎

‎Keala nodded, forcing a smile. "I'm fine. Just… nervous."

‎

‎Keeva appeared beside her, her grin reassuring. "Relax. He's just a man. A legendary man, but still a man."

‎

‎Kunai's voice came from behind them. "And Xefer seems to know him. That's enough for me."

‎

‎Keala looked at her husband, who was laughing at something Rayleigh had said. Her heart swelled. "You're right. He's got this."

‎

‎---

‎

‎[Xefer's POV]

‎

‎The girls returned, setting snacks and drinks on the table. Keala's flames kept the food warm, Keeva poured drinks with a grin, Kunai sliced fruit with precision, and Kiruko placed tea gently before Rayleigh.

‎

‎Rayleigh laughed, his voice booming. "Now this feels like home." He raised his cup, his grin wide. "To the sea. To the journey."

‎

‎Xefer raised his own drink, his voice cheerful. "To the journey."

‎

‎The girls joined in, their laughter filling the deck. Kiruko smiled faintly, her heart swelling.

‎

‎Rayleigh leaned back, his eyes sharp. "You've got spirit, Xefer. You've got strength. But the sea is vast, dangerous, unforgiving. Are you ready for what's coming?"

‎

‎Xefer's grin sharpened. "Always."

‎

‎Rayleigh laughed again, his voice warm. "Then I'll watch. I'll see where your journey takes you. Maybe you'll surprise me."

‎

‎---

‎

‎[Xefer's POV — The Offer]

‎

‎Rayleigh sipped his tea, his eyes sharp yet kind. "So," he said, his voice steady, "tell me. Where are you headed? What's your destination?"

‎

‎Xefer leaned back, his grin cheerful. "Raijin Island. That's where we'll make our base."

‎

‎Rayleigh's brows lifted, his grin widening. "Raijin Island, eh? Dangerous place. Lightning storms, beasts, no human soul dares stay there. Do you really believe you can make it?"

‎

‎Keala's flames flickered brightly. "Yes. We'll endure it."

‎

‎Keeva's grin sharpened, her fire dancing at her fingertips. "We'll thrive there."

‎

‎Kunai's blades gleamed faintly as she nodded. "We'll carve our place."

‎

‎Kiruko's fortress walls shimmered faintly around her, her voice trembling but strong. "I'll protect them. I'll heal them. We'll survive."

‎

‎Their voices rang with determination, their resolve unshaken.

‎

‎Rayleigh chuckled, leaning back. "Strong words. Determination like that reminds me of old days… perhaps I should teach you, guide you, sharpen that resolve."

‎

‎Xefer's grin sharpened instantly. He caught the thought, his eyes locking on Rayleigh's. His voice was calm, but carried weight.

‎

‎"Not every flame needs the same torchbearer. Your lessons belong to another future, not ours. We'll walk our own road, and you'll find the one meant for you."

‎

‎The words hung in the air, heavy yet liberating.

‎

‎Rayleigh's eyes widened, his grin fading into shock. "What…? Another future? What do you mean?" His voice carried confusion, curiosity, and a rare hint of unease.

‎

‎Xefer's grin remained. "You'll understand when the time comes. But it won't be with us. Our paths diverge."

‎

‎---

‎

‎[Rayleigh's POV]

‎

‎Rayleigh leaned back, his mind racing. For the first time in years, he felt unsettled. "You speak as if you've seen something I haven't."

‎

‎Xefer's tone was calm, almost playful. "Not sight. Just clarity. We're not meant to be shaped by your hand."

‎

‎Rayleigh sat in silence for a moment, then laughed — a deep, booming laugh that shook the deck. "Ha! You've got spirit, boy. You caught me before I even spoke it aloud. You're right. My hands are meant to guide someone else. And if what you say is true… then I'll wait for that future."

‎

‎The girls exchanged glances, their hearts racing. Kiruko's eyes shone with admiration.

‎

‎Rayleigh raised his cup again, his grin wide. "Then I'll drink to that. To your destiny. To Raijin Island. To the path you'll carve."

‎

‎Xefer lifted his own drink, his voice cheerful. "To the path we'll carve."

‎

‎The girls joined in, their laughter filling the deck. Kiruko smiled faintly, her heart swelling with pride.

‎

‎---

‎

‎[Xefer's POV]

‎

‎Rayleigh leaned back, his eyes twinkling. "You've got resolve, you've got strength, and you've got family. That's enough. The sea will test you, but I'll be watching. And when that other future arrives… I'll be ready."

‎

‎Xefer's grin widened. "Then it's settled."

‎

‎Rayleigh stood, stretching his limbs. "I should be going. The sea calls, and I've got my own path to follow."

‎

‎Xefer rose, offering his hand. "Thank you for visiting. It was an honor."

‎

‎Rayleigh clasped his hand firmly. "The honor was mine, boy. You've given me something to look forward to."

‎

‎He turned to the girls, his grin wide. "Take care of him. He's going to do great things."

‎

‎Keala nodded, her flames flickering. "We will."

‎

‎Keeva grinned. "He's stuck with us."

‎

‎Kunai's voice was steady. "Always."

‎

‎Kiruko's walls shimmered faintly. "Forever."

‎

‎Rayleigh chuckled, climbing back onto his small boat. "Then I'll be on my way. Until we meet again."

‎

‎---

‎

‎[Xefer's POV — The Departure]

‎

‎The girls gathered at the railing, watching Rayleigh's boat disappear over the horizon.

‎

‎Keala's flames flickered softly. "He's incredible."

‎

‎Keeva nodded. "And he sees something in you, Xefer."

‎

‎Kunai's voice was quiet. "Something special."

‎

‎Kiruko stepped closer, her walls shimmering faintly. "He believes in you."

‎

‎Xefer's smile was warm as he looked at them. "He believes in all of us. And that's enough for now."

‎

‎He wrapped his arms around Keala and Keeva, pulling them close. Kunai and Kiruko joined them, their bodies pressed against his.

‎

‎"Whatever comes next," Xefer said softly, "we face it together."

‎

‎Keala's voice was barely a whisper. "Always."

‎

‎Keeva's hand found his. "Forever."

‎

‎Kunai's lips brushed his cheek. "Until the end."

‎

‎Kiruko's walls shimmered around them all. "And beyond."

‎

‎---

‎

‎[Luffy's POV — Brief]

‎

‎Far across the sea, Luffy's small boat drifted toward Shells Town.

‎

‎"Zoro!" he shouted, his grin wide. "I'm coming for you!"

‎

‎He had no idea that the storm was already watching.

‎

‎---

‎

‎[Xefer's POV]

‎

‎Xefer stood at the prow, his grin sharp but his eyes soft as he watched Rayleigh's boat fade from sight.

‎

‎"Raijin Island," he murmured. "That's where we'll build our future."

‎

‎Keala appeared beside him, her hand finding his. "Together."

‎

‎Xefer squeezed her hand. "Together."

‎

‎The Viser sailed forward, the sea stretching endless before them. The storm was just beginning.
