The moment Urag stepped inside her chamber, his dark eyes swept over the mess, the cold brass platters left near the threshold, the tangled coverlet on the floor, the heavy curtains drawn tight against the light.
His jaw flexed with a sudden, dangerous tightness.
"You," Urag barked at the head maid hovering nervously in the doorway, his voice low and commanding.
"Clear all of this away. Strip the bed, fetch fresh linens, and light the hearth. I want a warm bath prepared in the adjoining chamber immediately. Bring new sleeping clothes for both of us, and food. Bring meat, fresh bread, broth, and wine. Bring enough for a feast, and do it now."
The servants scattered like leaves in a gale, terrified and eager to obey their Duke's commands.
