"Since Walter, if that's your decision, then agree to his terms. Dr. Tesla, what's Cocolia up to these days?"
After Walter spoke in agreement, Einstein and Tesla fell silent. After all, Walter was the true leader of Anti-Entropy. Once he made up his mind—even if it meant signing our death warrant—they wouldn't dare oppose him.
"Chicken Coop Head, we can't keep indulging that Cocolia—she's still hell-bent on capturing the Third Ruler. It seems she just won't give up."
At the mere mention of Cocolia, Tesla's face burned with anger.
"Alright, Dr. Tesla, I already know about that. Now, the key issue is Cocolia's recent actions."
Tesla immediately reported the latest intelligence: "According to our recent information, she appears to have established connections with people from Schicksal. It seems someone is trying to defect from Schicksal through her, though the details are still unclear."
"Defectors from Schicksal…"
Tesla's words caused both Einstein and Walter to frown. They instantly recalled a person from years ago who had attempted to defect from Schicksal to Anti-Entropy—only to be rebuffed, not just by Anti-Entropy but even by Schicksal's Otto.
"Dr. Tesla, keep a close eye on Cocolia. This time, we absolutely must not let her pull any more stunts," Einstein admonished. Although this matter should have been handled by Tesla, due to our current situation with Davis's involvement, she can't easily return to Anti-Entropy.
"Rest assured—I've already sent Siegfei over. This time, I won't let her schemes succeed. By the way, wait a moment on your end. I'll be there shortly."
Tesla said as she vigorously waved her right hand. She clearly felt very satisfied with her decision.
"You're coming over?" Einstein's brow furrowed.
"Hey, Chicken Coop Head—this is the Quantum Sea, a parallel world, after all. How could I not be present? Don't worry, I won't delay things over here. Also, we need to rescue Thunder Dragon Ma as soon as possible, or our funds will run dry."
Anti-Entropy implements an Executor system where every executor enjoys autonomous operational authority. Although Walter is Anti-Entropy's leader, he does not have absolute control over his subordinates. That is why Cocolia dared to cause such chaos in Walter's absence—and later, even Walter and the two doctors found themselves unable to deal with her due to lack of evidence.
Under Schicksal, no one would dare pull such stunts under Otto's command; Otto would have long since scattered her to the winds. Admittedly, factors such as Thunder Valkyrie Mei and Thunder Dragon Ma's imprisonment played a role—if they were present, they could have contained Cocolia.
Walter, Einstein, and Tesla were extremely busy; they simply did not have time to manage Anti-Entropy's day-to-day operations. Normally, Anti-Entropy was run by Thunder Dragon Ma, who also supplied the funding. This is quite similar to Schicksal, where Otto usually left daily matters to Amber.
"I understand."
"Even at that, you still can't stop eating, can you? Fu Hua doesn't take missions as rigidly as we do. But at first glance, one might even mistake you for a man."
In Lion City, after his shadow clone had accompanied Fu Hua and Kiana into the metropolis, Daniel Davis swapped his shadow clone with his main body so that he could take duty at St. Freya Academy, while he himself came in person.
At that moment, Fu Hua was dressed in a neat black suit, standing alongside Kiana in a gorgeous, elegant dress. Together, they looked every bit like the professional butler escorting a young lady out on the town—a level of polish one might only see on television.
After disembarking from Schicksal's aerial warship, the two immediately headed for Lion City's most luxurious Queen Hotel and booked a presidential suite. It wasn't that they were here to indulge in Schicksal funds; their target was inside that very hotel.
"This is Walter—or no, it should be Waite. Dr. Makki, the Tranquil Gem… so that's it. Poor Cocolia—she's been reduced to a pawn on the front line."
While Fu Hua and Kiana schemed on how to approach the enemy, Daniel Davis had already pieced together nearly every detail of the matter.
Dr. Makki, disgruntled over Otto's experiments with the Ruler Gem, had contacted Anti-Entropy with his own Ruler Gem and his research findings, only to be picked up by Walter.
Alas, poor Makki had no idea that he'd contacted the wrong person on Anti-Entropy's side. If he had reached either the two other doctors or Thunder Dragon Ma, there would have been no issue—but he ended up contacting Cocolia. In doing so, he escaped the tiger's mouth only to fall into the wolf's den.
Cocolia had long since prepared equipment in Lion City and amassed vast quantities of Honkai Crystals. Once she acquired the Tranquil Gem, she immediately began to activate it.
Finding a suitable host for the Ruler Gem is extremely difficult. For years, Schicksal had been experimenting with it. In the end, after sacrificing countless Valkyries, the coveted gem's energy finally stabilized within Wendy's body. As for the Tranquil Gem, no one has yet found an appropriate host.
Otto was clever too. He did not force anyone to undergo Ruler Gem experiments. Instead, under the guise of saving humanity, he had the Valkyries voluntarily participate.
Dr. Makki was originally in charge of the research institute for the Tranquil Gem. At first, he didn't care at all about the Valkyries' sacrifices—until one day, his own granddaughter became one of the experimental subjects. Devastated by her loss, he then resolved to rebel.
Alas, he never realized that all of this was part of Otto's grand plan—from the experiments to having Makki take away the Tranquil Gem, every step was under Otto's control.
"Conducting Ruler experiments is meant to save Xier. Now that Xier has appeared, yet you continue your experiments—what is your excuse this time?"
On the basement level of the Queen Hotel, Daniel Davis scowled as he gazed upon the Tranquil Gem, encircled by masses of Honkai Crystals. With a mocking laugh, he smashed the tempered glass in front of him with a single punch and grabbed the Ruler Core inside.
"As expected, it's different from ordinary Honkai energy."
Feeling the Honkai energy emanating from the Ruler Core as it permeated his body, Daniel Davis chuckled. With a flick of his hand, he safely secured the Ruler Core. No matter how hard Honkai energy tried to corrode him, even a Ruler Core couldn't.
While researching artificial Stigmata previously, Daniel Davis had begun to study Honkai energy and even started absorbing it. If one disregarded Honkai's will, it could be seen as a form of natural energy—usable in cultivation.
In traditional cultivation, when one's true qi reaches the innate realm, they can absorb Honkai energy without suffering its corrosive effects; in other words, they won't go berserk.
The fate of the Crimson Kite Immortal was essentially that of succumbing to demonhood. Though Honkai energy possessed its own consciousness, it simply wasn't inclined to heed you unless you reached a certain threshold. Frankly speaking, until you reach that level, even if you try to listen to Honkai's whispers, it might not even pay attention.
It was rather amusing—in the era of the Crimson Kite Immortal, many martial artists in the jianghu regarded the voice of Honkai energy as if it were a message from an immortal, believing themselves worthy of ascending to the immortal realm, only to be seduced and led astray.
"This time I have to face Otto. Perhaps it's best to disguise myself," Daniel Davis mused as he packed up the Ruler Core, Honkai Crystals, and all of Cocolia's installed equipment.
Frankly, he didn't want to confront Otto right now. As for Otto's wish to resurrect Kalian, if it didn't require too high a price, he wouldn't mind Otto achieving his goal.
For five hundred years, Otto had steadfastly pursued his ideals, and in many ways, he was to be respected.
"From a parallel world—the world bubble—that guise is already established. How about we change it to 'Thirteen Flame Chasers,' or perhaps Kevin?"
Recalling someone currently residing in the Quantum Sea, Daniel Davis's mind suddenly sparked with an idea.
"Damn it, what's happening? Who is it—get out here now!"
On the 55th floor of the Queen Hotel, after a flurry of clattering sounds, in the presidential suite where Walter Two and Dr. Makki were staying, Walter Two's earpiece suddenly short-circuited with sparks. In an instant, he leaped from the sofa and began scanning the room.
Before Walter could take it all in, Daniel Davis materialized beside him and seized him by the neck, slamming his body against the wall.
"You bastard—sneaking up on my dear old Walter!"
Even though it was just a clone, it was still a copy of the First Ruler's strength. Under intense pain, Walter Two attempted to unleash the Eden Star. However, Daniel Davis's punch shattered the Eden Star he had summoned.
"You're nothing but a clone—don't act like an old man!"
Earlier, Daniel Davis had intended to capture Waite alive. He was quite curious if a clone could still channel some Ruler power, but fate had it that the real Walter had completely crushed that clone, leaving only Walter Two to be apprehended.
"Thunder—this is how the Thunder Ruler does it in the future."
(Latest novel: first published on 69Book!)
The Third Ruler—the Thunder Ruler—if her power were properly harnessed, could wreak immense havoc in modern society. The greatest difference between modern and ancient times is the use of electricity. In prosperous ancient cities, supporting a population of one million was rare; in modern cities, populations in the millions or even tens of millions are common. And if a modern city were suddenly stripped of electricity, it would collapse instantly.
Recall what happened in the Marvel Universe: just a few electromagnetic pulse devices caused tremendous destruction. With the power of the Thunder Ruler, such feats would be child's play.
Just now, considering Anti-Entropy's level of technology, Daniel Davis had swiftly dismantled the room's power system and Walter's external communication channels. His attack was swift, precise, and ruthless—leaving Walter no time to call for backup.
Although the technology in this world was advanced, even without carrying any visible weapons or mechs, quantum teleportation could instantly summon a mech to one's side. While Daniel Davis wasn't afraid of these mechs, he preferred not to create unnecessary complications. After all, if things escalated too much, Fu Hua and Kiana might rush in.
"Who are you? Are you from Schicksal?"
Inside the presidential suite, in a private room where Dr. Makki was sipping his wine, he turned pale upon seeing Walter being kicked aside by Daniel Davis.
It was clear that Daniel Davis was male. Had he been female, the others would have immediately assumed he was one of Schicksal's Valkyries.
"I'm not affiliated with either Schicksal or Anti-Entropy—I'm simply an outsider here to talk with you, Dr. Makki."
After tossing the unconscious Walter aside, Daniel Davis spoke directly.
"What do you wish to discuss?"
Dr. Makki's expression remained unruffled, as he now regarded life and death with indifference. When a person truly doesn't fear death, nothing can threaten them.
"Shall we talk about this?"
Daniel Davis then produced the Ruler Core.
"What do you intend to do with it?"
Dr. Makki's face immediately turned grim at the sight of the Ruler Core.
"Not so much what I intend to do with it, but what Cocolia intends. Dr. Makki, take a look at this."
Daniel Davis then produced his phone and showed Dr. Makki a photograph—a detailed overhead shot of the basement level, where the Ruler Core was surrounded by a mass of Honkai Crystals.
"Cocolia isn't a good person. For her, running experiments one by one to find a suitable candidate for the Tranquil Gem is too slow."
Even without him saying more, Dr. Makki understood. He had been researching the Tranquil Gem for some time. Since individual experiments were too slow, Cocolia intended to use an entire city as a testing ground—sacrificing millions—in hopes of finding a suitable host.
"Cocolia… this cannot be. Has she gone mad?"
The contents of the photo made Dr. Makki tremble.
"She's always been a madwoman. You should recall the Third Honkai Eruption in Changkong City—that was her doing."
After the death of the Void Ruler, her power fragmented into four Ruler Gems; Schicksal acquired three, and Anti-Entropy got one—the latter being known as the Conquest Gem.
"This… what am I even doing?"
Dr. Makki seemed on the brink of collapse. He had intended to atone for his sins with his life, but now he had almost triggered an even greater catastrophe.
"Calm down, Dr. Makki. Cocolia's plan has been foiled. Now, I need you to hand over that Honkai Neutralizing Serum."
Dr. Makki was a genius in his own right. He had developed HSN-b46, a serum capable of mitigating or eliminating Honkai energy within Valkyries. Although it might strip a Valkyrie of her power, for ordinary people suffering from Honkai sickness it was a lifesaver.
Later, Himeko managed to rescue the Valkyrie who had become the Void Ruler—thanks to this Honkai Neutralizing Serum fused with Cecilia's sacred blood to form the God-Slaying Gun.
Unfortunately, since Dr. Makki's demise, only one vial of the serum remained. Given that Dr. Makki was now here, I cannot allow that serum to vanish into thin air.
"Take it," Dr. Makki said, his voice heavy with resignation, as he retrieved a small box from a drawer and placed it on the table.
"My apologies, Doctor," Daniel Davis said, having sensed Fu Hua approaching, he promptly knocked her out.
Although he had the serum, he had the time and capability to replicate it. If he were here, why spend extra time researching replication?
"Thunder, that's how the future Thunder Ruler fights."
