With that, you took off, flying towards the Female Titan that was recovering against the wall. Clearly, the attacks from the Colossal had left it weak and battered. But you were not concerned about that right now; you needed to talk to her, to make her understand. You had to make her stop. The problem was that the Colossal was still a huge threat. You looked over to Levi and the others, who were now engaged in battle once more.
Levi was the only one who could take the Colossal down, but he needed time and an opening. One that the Colossal's steam prevented him from finding. The rest of the Special Operations squad was still in the fight too: Petra, Oluo, Eld, and Gunther, all doing their best to assist.
But you could not count on them right now; you had to do your part. You had to reach Annie, and you had to do it fast.
With a final look at the Colossal Titan, you turned and flew towards the Female. She had just managed to stand back up, her eyes now on you as you approached. For a moment, you thought you saw a flicker of surprise in them, as if she had not expected to see you alive. But you couldn't be sure.
As you got closer, you readied your blades. You were not planning to use them, but you had to be prepared for anything. The moment you were close enough, you spoke. "Annie, it's me, Conrad." You tried to sound calm, while also convincing yourself that what Commander Erwin had told you was true.
She looked at you, the enormous face of the titan expressionless. It was almost as if she didn't believe you, but then she reached a hand out towards you, her palm open. You took it as a sign of truce and landed on her palm. The feeling of the rough, yet somehow soft skin of the Titan beneath you was strange and unnerving. It made you want to flee, but you stayed still, looking at the supposed face of your lover.
A single tear fell from her eye, the hot steam hitting your face. But you didn't mind. You had to make her listen. "Annie..."
At that moment, you heard the sound of flesh being torn from behind the Female Titan, the body of the Titan began to evaporate. But then, Annie appeared from behind, her ODM gear attached to her own body. You stared in awe at her as she jumped into your arms. Then she buried her face into your shoulder. "You are alive..." She said, her voice shaky.
"Yes, I am..." You replied, hugging her back tightly. The joy and relief of seeing her were immense, but you also had a question to ask. "Annie...What's going on? Why did you...?"
Annie pulled away from you, her eyes red from tears, but they were still as cold and determined as always. "I told you...that I would keep watch...I didn't think that he would..." She paused, her voice breaking for a moment. "...I had to stop him. For what he did to you..." Then, now out of her berserker state, she allowed herself a moment of pause. "Historia, Addie, and Mikasa?"
"They are safe, I made sure of it." You assured her, feeling the same sense of urgency that you had when you thought she had been harmed. But now was not the time to get into all of that, as Bertholdt was still on the rampage.
"I am glad..." She smiled softly, but her eyes quickly went to the back. Then, as if she had made a decision, she grabbed her blades. "We need to stop him; he believes that Reiner is somewhere in the city..."
"Reiner?" You questioned, confusion clear on your face. How could that be possible? He was at the armored wagon, right?
"Commander Erwin made sure to have two wagons. I helped..." Annie began, and her words made everything fall into place.
"You should have told me..." You said, a bit of disappointment in your voice.
"There was no need...Not then..." She replied. "I was not sure that this would happen...This was not part of the plan...But Conrad, when I saw you dead, I lost all hope...I was angry, and that made me become..." She took a deep breath. "It made me forget what I wanted..."
There was a deep sense of guilt in her words, but there was no time to delve deeper into it. You placed a hand on her shoulder, your expression serious. "We will talk later...For now, we need to stop Bertholdt." You looked up at the titan, who was continuing his fight against Levi. It was clear that the fight had taken its toll; the survey corps was not entirely equipped to handle this threat, and Levi was not getting his opening.
Annie nodded in agreement. "I promise that I will tell you everything...Later." Her voice was firm, but you could still sense the uncertainty within her. But you could also see the trust she had in you and the overwhelming fear that, maybe...Just maybe, she was asking too much of you. Which made them all the more afraid of what might come next.
Her eyes seemed to apologize for that as you steeled yourself and said, "I will hold onto that." Then, as the body of Annie's Titan evaporated, she got ready to engage Bertholdt again, and so did you. There was no turning back now. Whatever was to come, you would face it together. The only question now was: How do you fight an opponent that seems to have all the advantages?
-x-X-x-
Mikasa, who had not been too far away from the blast from the Colossal Titan, had managed to recover enough to continue the fight. While Captain Levi told her that it would be better for her to be on the back line. She knew that with her fighting alongside him, they would have the best chance of victory.
She saw Conrad go up to the female titan and do...something. But then Annie reappeared with Conrad. She didn't know what to think about this; a titan helping them was unheard of. Her bandaged hand ached for a moment; the burning sensation was still fresh, and it would not stop her. Not when she could help him and the others.
As she moved across the rooftops, her heart pounded in her chest. It wasn't entirely the adrenaline of combat or the anger she felt toward Bertholdt...it was something else. A deep, undeniable emotion she had tried to suppress. One she only felt for him. The thrill she felt when she fought side by side with him was exhilarating; the way they moved together as if they had been made for this...For battle.
She wanted him to see that...To acknowledge it. And that thought fueled her, drove her to push herself harder. This was entirely different from how her protectiveness with Eren, and yet it was covered with a layer of selfishness that she found strange and intoxicating. She knew that this feeling was not entirely right...Her mind should be on the battle, on helping everyone. But her heart, for once, had its own desires, and it was hard to resist.
"Hah..." She let out a breath, her eyes locking onto Conrad as he approached the section where the Colossal Titan was located. He had a look in his eyes that she had never seen before. It was not the calm and collected gaze that he often carried; no, this was something else. It was intense, focused, and filled with a fire that made her heart beat faster.
It was not love; she knew that much. No, this was a battle lust, an urge that made her want to fight, to feel alive...and she realized she wanted to share that feeling with Conrad.
She moved with increased speed, her ODM gear expelling more gas as she inadvertently hurried herself. Her black hair whipped in the wind as she closed the distance between them, and she felt herself become more aware of her body. The way her gear was tight against her hips, the way her arms resisted the inertia of her movements...She could feel the power in her limbs, the potential for violence...and it thrilled her. Mikasa had fought titans at Trost, but this time it was different, because she had found someone who could match her passion, who could understand the desire to destroy...She had found him, and she wanted to show him just what she could do.
She landed on the rooftop beside him, the force of her landing making the burnt brick tile creak under her boots.
"Conrad, Annie. Are you okay?" She asked, her voice steady despite the excitement inside her. Conrad turned to her, his eyes flickering with a hint of surprise. For a moment, it looked like he wanted to ask her why she had joined them. But then he gave a curt nod.
"We are fine, Mikasa," Annie responded first, her gaze weaker than Mikasa was used to. "...But the plan has changed,"
"I could tell...." Mikasa said, the revelation that Annie could also turn into a titan...She had no more space in her mind to process that information. Now all that mattered was stopping Bertholdt. "...Tell me the new plan," she requested.
"The Colossal is trying to look for Reiner; if we stop him from doing so, we might have a chance at killing him," Annie explained, her voice serious. "But I will need your help...Both of you."
Mikasa looked at Conrad, who was already prepared, and she felt a surge of pride. "I am with you," she said without hesitation, her hand gripping her blade tighter.
Conrad nodded, his gaze now focused on the task ahead. "Annie, how are we going to do this?"
Before Annie could answer, someone else landed on the rooftop with them. It was Petra, carrying an unconscious Olou on her back, her face was smudged with sweat, and there were small burns on her uniform.
"The Colossal...It's too hot," Petra said, before recovering some air and looking straight at the three of you. "Captain Levi needs help! If he stays there too long, he will get burnt just like..." She stopped, looking at Oluo with concern. "...Help him! I'll get Oluo to safety!" And with that, she jumped back, using her ODM to retreat. You all looked at the spot where she had been just moments ago. Petra's face was not that of the kind woman you knew her to be. The fight was taking its toll on all of you, and the reality was that you might lose someone today.
"Understood!" You said your mind is trying to come up with an idea on how to beat him.
"How are we supposed to get through his steam?" Mikasa questioned. "It's like a furnace..."
Annie looked up at the Colossal, who was busy with Levi. Her expression became cold, determined. "...I will go up and keep him distracted; you two go for the neck...If there's an opening..."
"I will take it," Mikasa declared.
"You will barely have seconds before he reacts. No, the two of you must go at the same time and use all your strength," Annie argued, her eyes meeting Mikasa's.
"And what if you can't hold him?" You asked. It was a real concern; it has already been shown to you how the Colossal could easily defeat her in her Titan form. She did not answer, her silence speaking volumes. Then you added. "...Then we must be ready."
"We will," Mikasa affirmed. Then you both took a deep breath, preparing yourselves for the fight ahead.
Captain Levi was struggling to stay on the offensive as the steam continued to envelop him. You and Mikasa nodded at each other, and Annie launched herself towards the wall. The plan was simple. Annie would distract him and, in doing so, give you both the opening needed to strike. The rest...You would figure it out when you were there.
-x-X-x-
Annie needed elevation, and so she moved towards the wall, watching as the Colossal Titan tried to shake Levi off with its arm. It was clear that the strongest soldier of humanity was beginning to feel the heat, as his gear was starting to malfunction due to the extreme temperatures. You even wondered how he had been able to fight this long without being cooked alive. The remaining members of the Special Operations squad did not even get close; always repulsed at the last moment.
It was a tug of war between the titan and the captain. But Bertholdt still seemed to have the upper hand, the heat becoming unbearable, even for someone like Levi.
"Rookies! Move!" He shouted, as he evaded the arm of the titan, and you and Mikasa immediately went into action. Annie reached the top of the wall, where she stood observing the battle, ready to pounce at the right moment. Her presence alone was enough to attract the attention of the Colossal. His head moved towards her, the Titan's expression devoid of emotion. The same could not be said for Bertholdt.
Annie knew he would not go easy on her, not after the betrayal. But that did not deter her; she needed to protect Conrad and the others. Protect...others. It was funny how that thought came to her mind so naturally now. It felt good, there were no doubts anymore... No internal struggle for what to do. She was free, free to choose, and she chose to stand by him.
"Bertholdt..." She chuckled. "...Always running after Reiner." She said with a smile that did not match the somber expression in her eyes. "...It is so pathetic..." She placed a foot in front of the other. "It always has been...I don't care anymore about your wish to return to our homeland, always putting excuses on top of more excuses..." Her body was now leaning forward. The moment was about to begin. "We were never warriors...we were never special." And with a final glance at you and Mikasa, she said. "The reason I don't want to go back...It's because of people like you, who gave us the chance to be more...To be happy." She closed her eyes and bit her hand. "That's my own choice. This is how I fight..."
You did not need to hear her speak to understand; her actions said enough. Then the titan transformation began, and Annie launched herself into the air, her body transforming into the female titan. It was an amazing sight, seeing her fly across the city and towards the Colossal. The Colossal immediately stopped emitting steam, its two arms raising as it tried to grab Annie.
There...This was the moment. You and Mikasa looked at each other, then moved forward, your blades ready to kill.
Mikasa's movements were as fluid as yours; your ODM gear's gas released in sync, propelling you both towards the nape of the Colossal Titan. The world around you slowed down, the adrenaline pumping through your veins making you feel invincible. In the back of your mind, there was only one thought...You had to end this, not only for Historia, but for everyone who had been hurt by this betrayal.
For the soldiers who had died.
For Annie.
For yourself.
The nape of the titan grew closer and closer; your blades ready to strike.
"Die, you traitorous bastard!!!" You roared.
Then, with all your might, you and Mikasa struck. The sound of metal cutting through flesh was almost inaudible amidst the chaos, yet, it was not enough to cut through the dense flesh. You were met with resistance; the blades only sank a little more than halfway. The shock made your heart sink.
"Conrad!" Mikasa shouted your name as she pulled her blade free and stood on the nape.
"Again!" You shouted, already retracting your blade, and together you struck once more.
"Wait!" Captain Levi had not expected the strange plan to work, and now that it was possible, he tried to join the fray. But it was impossible, he knew that you and Mikasa had but seconds to do it before the steam blasted the two of you off the titan. "You two!" He tried to say, but you did not listen.
Your blades cut through again, this time a bit more. But the nape was thicker than the other Titans'...And time was running out. And then you hear a loud thud. As you looked in front of you, you saw the Colossal holding the Female Titan with his two massive hands, as she struggled to break free from his grasp. There was an almost pained expression on the face of the Titan. But also one of terrible satisfaction, as he began to squeeze Annie's titan body.
The Female Titan screamed in agony as the pressure increased, the muscle on her arm almost disintegrating into a fine mist of blood. You could feel the fear and anger rise in your body. You had but seconds left.
"HAAAH!" You screamed in return, hearing Annie's pain and frustration. The dull sound of the flesh parting with each swing of your blade was music to your ears. You cut and cut, with the desperation of someone who knows they have to end the nightmare now. Yet, the scream of the titan in Annie's throat made the hair on your skin stand on end.
Who was he to hurt her? Who was he to make her suffer so?
Yet, even as you tried to go faster, you couldn't finish the job. The nape was still not completely cut.
"Conrad! We have to go!" Mikasa shouted, her blade sinking into the nape just like yours.
No, you could not. Not now. Not when you were this close.
"I won't!" You replied. You looked up and saw how the face of Annie's titan was being crushed, forcing her throat to close...Just how strong could Bertholdt be? Just how strong did his resolve to bring Reiner back make him? That was something only he knew...But that would not stop you. "I won't give up!" You said and swung again.
Then you heard it, the final scream of Annie. A terrible, gut-wrenching cry that was quickly drowned out by the steam and the crackling of bones being crushed.
"Annie, NO!" You screamed, and Mikasa, sensing the steam about to go off, rushed to you, only to be grabbed by her neck by Captain Levi, who managed to reach only her in time. As before he could reach you, Bertholdt unleashed his steam. The heat was once again unbearable, about to burn you to a crisp, but even so, you could not give up.
Your skin began to rapidly peel, the heat melting away your clothes and burning your flesh. The handle of the swords cutting into your hands as you felt your body burning away. Yet, you felt as if your blades had made a breakthrough...All you needed was one more strike.
-x-X-x-
It was impossible to think of anything else. Not the pain, not the cries of the people you loved, nothing. You pushed the blades in, even as your hands melted into them. A roar escaped your mouth as you put all your remaining strength into the final blow. But then the steam made your hooks loose and sent you flying into the sky.
As your body flew through the air, a piece of flesh detached from the neck and fell in front of you. It was the piece you cut off, the piece that would make the nape vulnerable. If only you had another second...
The pain was as incandescent as it had been the first time, even worse..."AhhHHH!!" You could not help but scream in agony, but in your pain and desperation, and with your eyes still functioning. You saw Annie's titan body fall onto the ground, the wet thud echoing across the now destroyed city of Ehmirch. You thought you could never have felt for a Titan, but the image of seeing her mangled body with a discolated jaw and eyes popped from her sockets made your chest ache. It hurt in ways you had never imagined.
Your eyesight began to fail you as the air made your wounds even worse. Bertholdt did not care for the state of your wounds; instead, he turned around, sending one of his arms towards you.
You could not give in to despair, not when your body had endured this before. As the steam evaporated, your sight was returning to normal. You knew you had to act quickly before Bertholdt did. Your melted hands did their best to grip onto the gear once more. The smell of your burnt flesh filled your nostrils, and you knew you were seconds away from being smashed to death. There was nothing else to do but try. You were not going to let Bertholdt win.
"BERTHOLDT!" You shouted as you expelled more gas from the gear, trying to gain enough speed to dodge the attack.
With what gas you had left, you released your wires and sent yourself towards the falling arm, narrowly avoiding the titan's grasp as it swept the sky in an attempt to crush you. But even so, the winds generated by his arm were enough to make you lose your balance.
"Ugh...Fuck!" You cursed as your body began to descend uncontrollably. Yet, you used what was left of the momentum to aim towards Bertholdt's shoulder. There was no hesitation in your heart. You aimed the gear so that you could circle around to the nape once more. You felt your vision blurring again, and the flesh was beginning to regenerate...But your hooks made it.
This was your last chance to kill him, and you would take it.
But then you felt as if you slowed down, your vision too blurry to see anymore. Your consciousness began to fade again, but not before your fingers released the handles and your body fell towards the titan. Its hand was already waiting for you...The last thing you saw was the palm of a Titan that had once been your friend...It closed around you. Crushing you.
At that moment, you felt a terrible regret in your heart, one you had never known before...The thought of the future, one that was stolen from you...The thought of a world you could never see again. The faces of Annie, Adelaide, Historia, Mikasa...Your family and your sister. It was too much...You had failed them. Failed humanity...As your bones broke, your mind thought of them and how much you had wished to spend more time with them. How you wished that your selfish desires would not have to remain only that, just desires. The thought of never kissing Historia's lips again or holding Adelaide as she rested in your chest, to feel Annie's hands and her sweet embrace...To know what Mikasa's touch would feel like...All of it would never be...Not now.
"C-!" You heard only a single sound before your ears ruptured; the pressure of being crushed was so immense that all of your senses were shut off. You felt nothing, you saw nothing...There was just nothing...Only darkness and regret.
And then, your consciousness faded away for the second time and maybe the last time today.
-x-X-x-
"How many tries will it take...before I die? How many more times will this happen to me? The world just can't let me die, can it?" A voice inside you whispered as your vision returned once more, not to the white space of dreams, but to the darkness of a room. "You won't let me rest..." Someone was saying, or was it you? "Even if you try, it won't work...It won't...No matter what you do, I won't be free." You recognized the voice, but not quite to put a name on it.
"I made a promise..." A man's voice responded, the sound echoing in the dark, making the space you were in feel endless and inescapable. You felt your body, the familiar feeling of flesh and blood, and your sight began to return. You blinked, looking at the dark ceiling that was covered in damp stains, the smell of rot and decay filled the room, yet there was something sweet lingering there. "But I won't make the same mistakes...Not again..."
It took you a moment to register that you were lying on a bed, one that felt neither comfortable nor familiar. The small room had a small, dusty window, the light of the night outside barely making its way inside. Your head felt heavy, as if filled with a thick liquid. "W-Where..." You tried to move your arm, but found it restrained. You looked to your right side, where your arm was chained to the bedframe. The cold steel biting into your skin as you realized that both your legs were tied as well. "Wha-..." You tried to speak, but your voice came out as a whisper, barely audible. The sudden realization made your heart race. What happened? What is this place?
The answer came from a figure in the corner of the room. The shadows covered them, making their identity hidden from you, but they began to speak. Their voice was a strange mix of gentleness and firmness.
"Don't worry...Conrad. You are safe here." The figure stepped forward, into the faint light, revealing a face that you did not recognize. "Did you really think you could take on the Colossal Titan? That is just not possible...Even for someone like you." The person did smile, and their long hair, darkened by the shadows, seemed to move with their face.
You had so many questions, but none of them came out. Instead, you tried to move your body, but the chains were too tight. "Let me...go..." You said, your voice a bit stronger now. There was something in the eyes of the person, something that sent shivers down your spine.
"That's the spirit, always trying to escape." The figure shrugged. "It took me a while to get you here...Especially after your stunt with Reiner at Trost. I have to admit, I thought you would have perished, but you were lucky again...A real miracle." They walked around the bed, observing you with interest. "Or rather a curse." The figure sighed. "But that is what you wanted, isn't it, Conrad? To save humanity? Sacrifing yourself for it."
"Let me go." You repeated, this time with more force. "Who are you?!"
The figure chuckled, their hand resting on the side of the bed. "A friend, in a sense." Then they crouched down so that they were on eye level with you. The eyes were a cold blue, the same as a frozen lake, and their smile was not a kind one. "Someone who understands what you have been through...and what you will go through if I let you return to that battle." They paused. "...It would be such a waste, though." The words were spoken with a hint of pity, as if the person cared for you. But their eyes betrayed them; they were filled with something else.
"Who...What..." You were struggling to comprehend the situation. Then you steeled yourself and tried to focus on the facts.
"Bertholdt did not like that you managed to convince Annie to betray them..." The figure spoke again, standing up and moving away from the bed. "...He really wanted to kill you, you know? He was crying even as he did it,"
"Crying?" You questioned.
"Not for you, of course. No, for Annie. He really cared about her." They turned around to face you, their face still as dark as the room. "...He saw how her feelings had changed. That's what drove him to fight back so fiercely." A dark smile crossed their face. "For the chance that maybe...Just maybe, he could have her back."
You were silent.
"You make a mess of things...I really thought that the blast from Bertholdt would finish it. You were close enough, I am sure..." They paused, looking up at the ceiling as if reminiscing. "But I suppose that is not the case. Someone saved you..." Their gaze moved back to you, and the smile was replaced by something darker, something colder. "...And they will save you again...I know it...You may return, but next time you end up here, you might not be so lucky."
You wanted to speak, to demand more answers, but the words caught in your throat. The fear, the anger, and the confusion were all mixed up, making. The darkness of the room seemed to swallow your voice, right as a tiny speck of light appeared on the window. It grew, expanding, until it became a sphere that seemed to distort the very fabric of the world around it. You could not look away; your eyes were fixated on the orb that pulsed and flickered, as if it were alive.
"Do not worry, Conrad..." The voice said, its sound now distant and echoey. "I will make sure the future you want never happens..." The person walked to the light, their body slowly dissolving into the white glow. "...That I promise."
Then, just as it appeared, the light vanished. And so did you.
***
A sudden gasp, the sound of someone drawing breath. You were back in your body, the cold air hitting your skin, making your body tremble. You tried to move, but the pain in your chest and head was overwhelming. "Ugh..." You moaned, feeling a wet cloth being placed on your forehead. You opened your eyes, expecting to see that room, that strange person...But no, it was different.
Above you, there was a wooden ceiling that appeared to have been hastily repaired, some beams of light filtering through cracks and gaps. The bed was simple, and you could see the outline of the walls that were not too far. "Where...?" You murmured, trying to lift your head.
"Easy...You need to rest..." A voice said. It was female and unfamiliar. The face came into view, and you saw a young woman with reddish hair with several bangs. Her eyes were light brown, almost honey-colored, and she had a kind expression. "I know you are confused, but don't worry, you are safe."
"What happened?" You managed to say, trying to make sense of it all.
"The battle is over...We won, but at a high cost." She explained, her hand moving the wet cloth from your forehead to the side of your face. The feeling of the cold fabric was soothing against your hot skin. "You...were..." She struggled to find words. "...In a very bad shape...Captain Levi said you were caught in the Colossal Titan's grasp...I have never seen something like it. Your body was completely mangled, but you were not dead."
The realization of what had happened came to you in a flash, and your heart rate picked up again. You remembered being crushed, the feeling of your bones breaking...The voice of that mysterious person. You attempted to sit up, ignoring the pain that shot through your body. "How...How am I still alive? Where are the others?" You asked, urgency clear in your voice.
She gently pushed you back down onto the bed. "Do not move...You need to recover...As for your friends, most of them are okay. Your sister has been looking after you non-stop..." She then added. "We lost some people...Eld and Oluo from the Special Operations Squad. Captain Levi is...injured but recovering. He made the killing blow, but he almost lost his arm."
"Oluo..." The name hit you like a punch to the gut. He had survived so much, yet now he was gone. And what about Annie...Did she make it? The thought made your chest hurt, and not just from the physical wounds. "Annie..." You whispered her name.
"She is alive...I will tell her you woke up..." The girl replied. Her tone was kind, but you could see a hint of something else. Sadness? Sympathy? It was hard to tell. Then she continued. "It has been a month since we got you out...It was touch and go for a while, but you are stable now." She paused.
"A month?" You were in shock. Had you been unconscious for a whole month?
"Yes...Don't worry about the details right now. Your wounds have been treated, and you should be able to move in a few days. For now, just rest." The girl's hand was on your chest, trying to soothe you.
But your mind was racing. What had happened to Reiner? What was that dream? Who was that person? So many questions and so few answers. Yet, there was nothing you could do but obey. "Okay..." You said, trying to calm down.
"Good...I am Nifa...I will be looking after you." She introduced herself, her smile genuine. "You are at an abandoned house close to Wall Sina, away from the capital. Don't worry, you're safe here." She assured you.
Nifa...That name sounded familiar, and you recalled that she was one of the Survey Corps members, part of a special division within the Survey Corps. It was no wonder she had been assigned to watch over you. The mystery that surrounded you was now becoming a burden. What were you?
"Thank you...Nifa..." You said, your voice weak.
"Get some rest...You'll need it," She said as she got up and moved away. "I will send someone to check up on you in a few hours." With that, she left the room, leaving you alone with your thoughts.
The silence was almost deafening, the only sound being your breathing and the creaking of the house. You were alive. Against all odds, you had survived again. But why? What made you different from others who had died? The image of Annie's fallen Titan body came to your mind, and you closed your eyes, trying not to think about it. Still, she was alive. She had to be, right? Nifa had said she was okay.
There was still much to learn, much to process, but for now, you would do as told and rest. As your eyes began to close again, a sense of hope and dread filled your heart. Had Reiner been executed? Was Historia alright? What had become of Mikasa and Addie? What happened to your sister?
It was a waiting game, but you knew you would get the answers eventually. Until then, you had to focus on healing.
