Xi Mi's dad, much like Xiao Bao, was a natural talent, as if blessed by the heavens. After a supporting role in his first TV series, he shot to fame, and every subsequent project he took part in was a hit.
Now middle-aged, Xi Mi's dad rarely appeared in films anymore. He focused on his family and his children, only occasionally acting to repay social obligations. In a film released last year, the investors and promoters had marketed it heavily under his name, but it turned out he was barely a supporting character. He was cast completely to prop up some fresh-faced young actor and an ingenue. The result was deeply embarrassing; their acting skills were so atrocious that not even special effects could salvage the horrendous display. Unsurprisingly, the film flopped.
