Chapter 585: Appearance of Two Demon Kings
Time flew by.
The demon faction was being beaten back steadily.
Most of the abilities possessed by the pure demons born from this magic mine leaned toward deserts, rocks, storms, and similar elements.
They all had fear-type magic as well, and when they fought together, the combined effects were impressive.
But even united, they still couldn't hold out for long.
After all, this battlefield was filled with elite magic-pattern users gathered from across the sea.
Numbers were not on the demons' side.
And realistically, a single large magic mine was nowhere near enough for the demons to compete on equal footing.
Rumble!
By now, the battlefield had shifted toward the outskirts of Jayne's forest.
On the wide street outside, the demons once again unleashed powerful waves of sand.
Yellow sand surged like raging tides, like golden wheat fields rolling in the wind, a spectacular sight.
"Heh-heh-heh-heh! Here we go again. Useless," Doflamingo said.
He was currently advancing with the frontline fighting squad.
With their side holding the advantage, he, as the apparent leader of the Magic Alliance, naturally had to put in effort and build prestige.
The Warbeast Commander who had been fighting him earlier was now among the retreating demon ranks.
Using his ultimate attack, Evergreen, to clear the battlefield had also affected Doflamingo's side.
Erdo, his opponent, endured wave after wave of the vine attacks.
But Erdo was no simple enemy, his ability was especially strange.
He simply bit through the incoming forest vines.
Even Doflamingo's earlier blockade had been bitten apart.
That sight had left a deep impression on Doflamingo: the places the monster bit into didn't merely break, they vanished, as if erased from existence.
It's not because of good teeth, just a terrifying ability.
Still, even though Doflamingo hadn't beaten the creature, he didn't feel discouraged.
The overall situation was already in their grasp.
Whoosh!
Lines of bright red light crisscrossed the sky.
A slash of red tore past, cutting the wall of yellow sand that had risen toward the sky, breaking its momentum instantly.
Other magic-pattern users joined in as well.
The Shadow Night Emissary Dorobetta controlled darkness, staining the sky like black cloth and swallowing a massive section of the sandstorm.
Kelly, the gluttonous woman, hurled a huge white sphere of light toward the demon side.
Everything its path touched, every grain of sand, was decomposed.
It smashed into the distance and exploded, scattering the last of the sand within tens of meters.
The other magic-pattern users also unleashed their respective abilities, clearing debris, dismantling attacks, or launching counterstrikes toward the demon forces.
While the fighting continued, two figures stood silently atop a nearby building, overlooking the street.
Judging by their clothes and their faces, the two were demon kings: Gusen and Desert, who had arrived on Holy Court Island.
They watched the magic-pattern users quietly.
"The abilities of these humans are quite strong," Gusen said.
"And those two humans with demon-king-level magic power… If we could bury them here, that would be ideal. I wonder how heartbroken the human forces would be."
His hoarse voice drifted through the wind. Desert's eyes flickered.
"If it can't be done, our lord's main goal is still balance," Desert replied.
"Too much conflict would be counterproductive."
Gusen didn't deny his words. He continued: "Humans are openly holding ceremonies like this now… Demon hunters… they're eager for the power of our demon clan."
"For something like this, I don't see any reason to consider the bigger picture."
Gusen's voice carried an unsettling tone.
As they spoke, the battlefield gradually fell silent, because the two demon kings standing there were impossible to miss.
"Great! The Demon Lords are ready to act!" a demon shouted.
"Those damn humans won't be arrogant anymore!"
The demons had also noticed the two kings on the rooftop and were ecstatic.
Before this, they'd been uneasy, humans were aggressive, cunning, and might have something hidden up their sleeves.
They weren't completely sure the demon kings would intervene.
Now their worries vanished.
With the two demon kings leading, they believed they could drive out all the humans and seize the mine completely.
"It's the Blue Demon King Gusen and the Sand Demon King Desert!"
"They actually came here!"
The magic-pattern users also stiffened when they noticed the two figures.
No one was surprised that the demons would send demon kings, but seeing these two still darkened their mood.
The demon kings of Demon God Island had fought humans more than ten times.
None of them were weak.
The weakest were equivalent to a one-star gem-level hunter.
More commonly, they matched a two-star hunter.
But the Nine Demon Kings…
Almost all were ranked at least equivalent to three-star gem-level hunters.
Facing opponents like that, even just two of them, doubled the pressure.
"There's something wrong with their magic… it's too strong," a top magic-pattern user muttered.
Some of the stronger magic-pattern users began noticing abnormalities.
They'd seen demon kings before, but this level of magic, this oppressive, monstrous pressure, was something else entirely.
Jayne, still deep inside the forest maintaining his magic, had not come.
Zeno, the only demon on the human side with demon-king-level magic power, wore a grave expression.
His ability was powerful. After reaching the demon-king level, he believed he could rival a two-star gem hunter.
Even against the stronger three-star hunters, he felt confident.
But now, after sensing the magic emanating from these two pure demons…
He felt completely uncertain.
These two… have already reached demigod-level combat power!?
Zeno's face turned cold.
If these two had broken through, then the other demon kings among the Nine Demon Kings probably weren't far behind.
When that time came, the enemies humanity would face… Would be far more terrifying.
This was a deeply troubling situation.
At that moment, Desert finished speaking with Gusen.
He stepped into the air, appearing before the human magic-pattern users. His voice was cold and commanding: "Humans. Release all demons and monsters, and then exit the mine."
"This farce ends here."
