Chapter 79 - Rebirth-Hybrid

After Valarius realized the child was dead, he didn't know what to do with the body so he left it lying on the ground. Hoping that someone who knew the child would find her.

He discarded the bodies of the humans he eliminated before returning into deep into the forest to continue his hunt.

He had started to feel weak because of the silver knife that had dug deep in his shoulder and needed blood to heal faster and to quench his thirst.

Days later, he was on another hunt at night. He was stalking a deer when a new scent wafted into his nose. It was unique.

He followed the scent and found a child sound asleep underneath a tree. He gritted his teeth in frustration as he had hoped the scent was coming from a creature he could feed from. But it wasn't. Valarius had promised himself not to drink from children.

Seeing the child was like a temptation for his vampiric side because of the child's peculiar and not-human scent but he had a moral code. Also, he was curious because the scent was familiar to him but he couldn't place where he had first perceived it.

So he walked closer.

Reaching the exact spot where the child was, Valarius saw him jolt out of his slumber.

Valarius was a vampire who took promises seriously and had personal morals he kept to. One which was not to harm humans; especially children but Sebastian, just like the child he tried saving days ago whom he didn't know was Sebastian's sister, wasn't human and had a different scent from the other creatures in Denverion and their scent brought out the vampiric side of him, making his red eyes glow.

But he didn't give into his vampiric desires and decided to take Sebastian as his own.

Now, knowing a little about Sebastian's life, Valarius explained to Sebastian how the mask belonged to one of his sister's murders and he wanted to save the girl but it didn't work out.

Little Sebastian gritted his teeth at the thought of the humans murdering his sister. His fingers rolled into a fist and he turned to Valarius and said "I want them dead. All of them".

Valarius, not surprised by the child's anger asked "How do you intend to do that?".

Sebastian turned away from Valarius, not knowing what to say.

He knew his powers weren't fully developed and he couldn't do so much because he was the least of his siblings when it came to their powers. Even his little sister had started showing some of her abilities and though it was in a very small amount, it was better than his.

The offsprings of fallen angels usually start showing their powers from six-months old and as they grew older, it enhanced.

Back then, his mother would often say to him "Mahalalel, you're special. Do not worry about it. It would come when you need it".

But thinking about it now, little Sebastian felt even more annoyed. "Why didn't my powers show up when Esther was being killed?." He asked himself. "Instead, I slept!" He said to himself once again, his expressions catching Valarius' attention.

"I can help you" came Valarius' words and Sebastian's eyes rested on the scary but handsome looking man once again.

"How?" Little Sebastian asked.

"You'd be just like me-Powerful" Valarius answered but it only confused the child more.

"And what are you sire?" He asked.

"An ancient creature who some believe to be a myth". Valarius paused to look at Sebastian's eyes that was lit with curiosity.

"A vampire" Valarius replied.

Sebastian felt happy that he had finally gotten the answer he wanted. He had heard tales about vampires from his parents but he never really knew much about them.

"Were you born as one or you were turned?" Sebastian asked and Valarius went ahead to tell Sebastian how he was turned into a vampire.

"I have answered all your questions child. Now you answer mine". Valarius stated.

"Okay".

"Your family... you're not humans, you're not witches either and you're certainly not a werewolf. So what are you?" The vampire asked.

"I am the grandchild of a fallen angel" Sebastian answered honestly.

Valarius was aware of the existence of supernatural creatures because he was one but he had never heard of fallen angels having children.

But despite that, he wasn't so perplexed by it because Denverion was home to a lot of creatures; night creatures and light creatures and in the era they lived in, these creatures hid themselves from humans because humans hadn't come to accept them yet. Especially witches.

"That's... surprising. I guess you have some special powers or abilities?".

"I do but it is not fully developed. As I get older, it would. I hope" Sebastian explained as his expression turned sad.

Valarius hummed and stayed quiet for a while before asking "You wish to take revenge on those who murdered your sister is it not?".

Little Sebastian nodded his head. Valarius knew how serious the child was but he also wanted Sebastian to be a hundred percent sure of what he wanted before he would make any move.

"You can become a hybrid. One of the most powerful creatures in Denverion". Valarius suggested.

"How does one become a hybrid?" Sebastian asked, determined.

"A hybrid is a fusion of two supernatural creatures into one. A hybrid can be born and can be made. In your case, I'd give you my blood and it fuses with yours, turning you into a hybrid" explained Valarius.

"Do it then" Sebastian urged.

"First I want you to be aware of something. Vampires need blood to survive so you would have to drink it, lots of it. Also, turning you into a hybrid is risky. It might work and it might not work. If it doesn't, you will die" Valarius explained.

He noticed how Sebastian quietly assessed everything he said and he hoped the child would ask him a question.

"Alright then" little Sebastian said and Valarius was amazed by how the child spoke and how smart he was.

He began to wonder if it was part of little Sebastian's ability but the child didn't realize it yet.

"I want you to promise me something. Promise me you'd use your vampiric powers on those who actually deserves it because when you're a vampire, you're most likely to get controlled by your vampiric instinct or bloodthirstiness most of the time but it can be controlled. So I want you to promise me you would only use your powers on those who deserve it and not innocent people". Valarius' expression turned serious.

Little Sebastian placed a hand on his chest, a way his father usually sealed a promise. "I promise" Sebastian said in all seriousness.

Seeing that little Sebastian was hell-bent on it, Valarius raised his palm to his lips and sunk his sharp fangs into it, causing a wound that blood began to steep out of.

"I know this is a bit unsettling but drink" he stretched his bleeding palm to Sebastian.
