The man was silent as he stared at Seraiya the the man she was holding hostage. "Do it" he said as if calling her Bluff. "Ok" Seraiya said simply. With a snap of her finger the man was gone dust fell from his place.
Suddenly her beta burst into her room. "Good your here do me a favor and deal with him" she said as the man stared at her in disbelief.
"T-they said you only kill if absolutely necessary" the man said. Seraiya turned to him. "Who said that?" she asked him as she knelt down to his level. The man was silent. "Alright" she said standing up. "Take him down to the cellar and ill deal with him…" she hesitated for a moment as she looked down at him then to her beta. "Accordingly" she said. "Yes Alpha" said her beta. "Wait" the man said.
"The triad sent me" he told her. "What the fuck is the Triad?" she questioned looking at her beta. "You know what it doesn't matter right now" Seraiya said simply. "Take him to the cellar" she told her beta as two wolves came in and dragged the assassin out.
Seraiya let out a deep breath and walked over to her window.
"Have you ever thought of becoming the full tribrid so people wont try to kill you anymore?" her beta asked. "Its to risky" Seraiya told him. "How?" asked her beta. "Seraiya turned to him. "My brother and I are the only Tribrids to ever exist, we don't know what will happen when we change. Were not even exactly sure how to do it" she added. "It seems to me you just don't want to" her beta said. "Of course I don't" Seraiya said. "My life has only ever been one trauma after another trauma and setting that part of myself free will be like remaining stuck in that trauma forever" she told him. "But then again I know I don't have much of a choice either" she added.
"What do you mean?" asked her beta. I have to become the Tribrid" she said "why" he asked. "The moon goddess made me a Tribrid to stop my brother" she said. "But for me that's not the only reason" she added. "If I don't become the tribrid that means that everything I went through everything I suffered was for nothing" she told him. "And I can't let it be for nothing" she added.
"Then ill ask one more time Alpha…" said her beta. "Why not become a full tribrid so people will give up on killing you?" he asked again. "Thats enough" she said "this is none of your business is that understood?" Seraiya asked. "Yes Alpha My apologies" said her beta. "Ill have wolves stand guard so you can sleep" he told her before leaving the room.
Seraiya fell back on to the bed behind her. She was tired. So, so tired. This life felt never ending. 3 years of peace and now the world was after her again. And on top of that a mate. Derek popped into her mind. The thought of him made her blush momentarily as she turned to her side.
He was her mate that much was true. She felt the pull towards him but not being a full wolf made her somehow less susceptible to the mate bond. But then amani slipped into her mind. Her heart began to ache. Seraiya curled up as she began to clench her chest. Amani was gone. She was dead. But she was also her first love.
Her breath became heavy. No stop! she thought. "Stop thinking" she whispered as her breath suddenly became more quick and shallow. "The more you think the more it hurts" she said closing her eyes. "Think of something else, think of shadow think of the pack think of anything other then her… anything other then them" she said.
She knew it as plain as day. Them… their death… her guilt… it was her biggest weakness. She didn't deserve to be alive yet here she was. "SERAIYA!" she heard her name and her eyes snapped open. Her breathing began to slow.
"Michael" she said. "What happened are you alright?" her beta asked kneeling on the floor by her bed. "No" Seraiya said "I'm not alright" she added. "What is it?" he asked her with concern. "If I tell you, you'll think I'm weak" she said. Michael let out a sigh "right now I'm speaking to you as your friend not your beta" he told her. "You are the strongest person I know" he added. "I could never think your weak and no one in this pack would either" he said as he got up and sat on the bed and Seraiya sat up.
"They haunt me" she told him. "Amani, Anya, Aaron…" she said. "Every time I close my eyes I see them and its only gotten worse over time" she added.
Michael just stared at her. Seraiya wouldn't move. No. She couldn't move. Her guilt weighed so heavy that it left her unable to do so. "Its bee 3 years Seraiya" said Michael. "How long are you going to let this guilt you hold control you?" he asked.
"I don't know how to make it go away" she told him. "I try to force it down and ignore it but…" she hesitated for a moment. "I can't do it all the time" she told him.
"Here" Michael said as he suddenly put a folded up piece of paper on the bed in front of her. "What is that?" Seraiya asked looking at Michael with a look of confusion. "Its a spell" he told her. "One to get rid of the guilt you hold" he said standing up. "Of course you don't have to use it, but I think you should" be told her. He then walked to her door and turned back to her. "You don't deserve to suffer like you think you do" he said before leaving the room and closeing the door behind him.
Seraiya grabbed the piece of paper and unfolded it before looking at it.
Then she read it.
