Chapter 19 - Chapter 19

[19:Teufel Hunden]

"I can't do it, Eleanor." Toru said

"Hmm…it's okay. We can train another time. Come on, we have to get ready." Eleanor said.

Eleanor tried what she could to help Toru, but not much could be done. With all her intelligence, Eleanor was really reaching, trying to train Toru in a different aspect of her power in such a short timeframe.

Toru tied the ten-million-point headband around her head. She was nervous. She was happy that she was invisible so that Eleanor couldn't see her nerves.

"Hold on, let me put this on it," Eleanor said before a small drone appeared as she placed it on the knot of the headband. "Just in case it's taken away, I can get it back easily." Eleanor then helped Toru up and put her on her shoulders.

'Stay focused, stay focused, stay focused.' Eleanor repeated in her head as Toru was on her. Let's just say that Toru was using her quirk at maximum efficiency.

"Toru, hold on tight. I need a few seconds to set everything up while I run around like crazy."

"Okay, Eleanor."

"Time is up! It's time to start the cavalry battle!" Midnight's voice sounded on the speakers. Once again, all eyes were on Eleanor, mainly from her classmates.

"They're staging a coup against me, Toru; they want to overthrow their president. I didn't expect the CIA to be involved in this." Eleanor jokingly said to herself.

"Huh?" Toru was confused.

"Get ready…begin!" Midnight brought down her whip as the battle official started.

"Eleanor, get here now!" Bakugo screamed, his face red with rage. He wanted to get back at her for what she did in the obstacle course. He felt humiliated. Others mainly just wanted to get the headband.

"We're going to play only defense, no offense, Toru. Hold on!" Eleanor said before she started running, unleashing multiple drones at the same time as she did. Her steps left small cracks on the ground as she ran, outpacing quite literally everyone. While others had to coordinate their movements to move efficiently, Eleanor didn't have to. Which meant she didn't need to hold her speed back as much; she only needed to watch her speed to make sure Toru didn't fall off.

"She's so fast!" Mina said.

"We just need to cut her off!" Bakugo said as he followed Eleanor with his eyes. But it was much easier said than done. Especially with what was about to happen.

As Eleanor was running, small drones started to surround her and Toru in a sphere-like shape. Slowly, she started to distort and disappear from view as if vanishing in thin air.

"Huh?" Bakugo was confused about what was happening. Before he got angrier. "Eleanor!"

It wasn't a perfect invisibility. There were small distortions and imperfections wherever Eleanor went, but with all the action in the event, it was very easy to lose track.

'Now, I just cruise around for 15 minutes.' Eleanor thought to herself as she slowed her speed. She didn't want to leave a trail for people to follow. She stuck to the outer wall of the arena, running in circles. If people could see her, it would be funny, but if it's a strategy that would win, then it doesn't matter how silly it is.

"Look at how I take advantage of the chaos to advance my own self interests, Toru. While they're distracted, I can do what I want without backlash. By the time they realize, it's too late." Eleanor said as she cruised along the edge of the wall, slowing down occasionally and dodging any other teams she met.

"You talk like a villain, or something." Toru said.

Toru hadn't expected it to be this easy so far. She saw how all the other teams were in an intense clash. Explosions, ice, acid, electricity, and more. When she saw the scoreboard, she was surprised at the poor performance of her class.

"What's happening?"

"Don't be surprised, Toru. Everyone has tunnel vision since they're too focused on me that they forget about the other classes. But that'll change. It'll be the other hero course's overconfidence that will help us by taking the heat off of us. Let's just focus. There's less than half the time left."

Eleanor started running again. But just a few short moments later, a massive block of ice was in her way. She stopped just in time, holding on to Toru's legs so she wouldn't fall over from the inertia.

"Well, this is quite the predicament. How did you find me, Shoto?" Eleanor said as the drones flew off, revealing her.

"With the help of Yaoyorozu," Shoto said.

Eleanor saw Momo with some goggles on her face.

"Alright, that's a good one. Did you see the bending effects?" Eleanor asked.

"Yeah, it was simple once I noticed it going in the same pattern around the arena," Momo responded.

"The brain and its pattern recognition are quite amazing, but we I think we know how this will turn out." Eleanor said.

Denki, also on the same team, started to look around. He felt that something was about to happen, a feeling similar to when he went against Eleanor in the team battles. "Uh…we should watch out. She can attack from anywhere."

"We have her in front of us and cut off. And she's alone, she's an easy target." Tenya said.

"True, but what about this?" As soon as Eleanor said that, three drones uncloaked themselves behind Shoto and his team. They quickly flew in front, letting out a flashbang blast one after another.

All of them closed their eyes, disoriented as their hearing filled with a high-pitched ringing noise. The only one less affected was Momo, since she had the goggles on, but the noise and the vision problems from three flahsbangs were enough to overpower it.

Precious time was lost as the effects lingered. They were at their most vulnerable. The only thing protecting them was the ice from Shoto. When their vision recovered enough, Eleanor was already gone, a large chunk of the ice taken out from where she had gone through.

"Not again! The same thing!" Denki said as he struggled to stand. It was luck they didn't all fall over.

Eleanor was laughing slightly as she ran away again. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

"That was so scary."

"It's going to get scarier, Toru. Everyone knows where we are now." Toru looked around and saw almost everyone trying to chase them.

"Woah!"

"Don't worry, they're not fast enough."

"Eleanor!" Bakugo's scream pierced through all the noise. The explosions sounded off as he flew to her.

"Bakugo, get back! We don't need it! Time's almost out, and we have enough to advance!" Kirishima tried to tell Bakugo, but it fell on deaf ears.

'Can't he focus on Midoriya instead? This guy's cortisol levels must be off the charts. 'He's like a heat-seeking missile. Wait, he's like a missile tracking me?' Eleanor smirked. 'I know what to do.'

Her "tactical evasion" was very simple. Just speed up.

No matter how much Bakugo tried, he couldn't catch up. Eleanor was just too fast. Even for other teams chasing after her, they couldn't physically react fast enough to act on what their minds already processed.

"Time's up!" Midnight's voice suddenly echoed from the stadium speakers.

Eleanor kept running as she slowly decelerated.

"We won? That was awesome, Eleanor!" Toru started clebreating as Eleanor helped her off her shoulders.

"Good job, Toru."

"You were running so fast! You were like a cheetah!"

"Or maybe a hell hound. That's a lot cooler. I'll see you later, Toru. I think we get a small break after this."
