[12:Democracy is Non-Negotiable]
Shouldn't the class representative thing have happened already? Before the kind of false alarm? Yeah, I think it should've. Oh well, not my problem.
After lunch, we went back to our classes. I guess it'll happen now?
Aizawa entered the class. "Alright, class, before we begin, I saw the footage of your battle trials. Eleanor, while others may think you went too far with your actions, I don't. You did a good job showing a glimpse of what villains can do in a situation. And your planning was solid; you exploited weaknesses in the other team's quirks and took advantage of the rules heroes follow."
My man. I had a feeling he would back up what I did. Being underground gives him insight into these things, I guess.
He said some other things about the other battles, but things that haven't changed. Bakugo losing, but having good skills. He just needs to keep his temper in check, but that'll take a long time and require a lot of patience.
"Now, for the next itema on the agenda, which will be very important for your hero careers." Did he really have to pause for effect here? "It's time to choose a class president."
I covered my ears because the class went up in an uproar, since they all wanted to be the class representative. Honestly, I never saw the appeal of this student representative stuff. But in this place, I guess it's different. At least there's no comically powerful student council trope going on here. I also never understood that either.
"Quiet down. I don't care how you do it; just choose one before time's up." He got back in his sleeping bag. I admire his ability to sleep at any place and seemingly almost at will.
"Everyone! I propose we vote! It'll be the fairest way to select the class representative!" Iida shouted before he got everyone's attention and calmly presented his proposal.
I'm not sure that's the fairest, but in this scenario, it's acceptable. And like Aizawa, I just want this over with. I have no interest in this stuff.
Soon enough, we started voting. And just to be sure, I voted for Tsu. I like her the most out of everyone here, and her honesty is a nice trait. I was also thinking Iida or Momo, but intelligent people are a better fit for a specialized role, instead of a broad and generalized one. For example, I would have Momo as a chemist in a lab, since she has to be good at chemistry for her quirk to work as well as it can. As for me, I think I would put someone like myself to work on something to do with computers; I feel that is my specialty. Not that I don't know outside of that, but that's my best fit.
Let's see the results.

Oh, come on. You've gotta be kidding me.
"Eleanor - 4 votes," was written on the board after everything was tallied up.
Damn it. Seriously? After what I did in the battle trial and the stuff I said when I debated Midryia on that ethics prompt? I know for sure that kind of rhetoric isn't exactly something that people find popular or appealing.
I got up from my chair. "Alright, what's going on here? Why me?"
"I voted for you because of your battle trial. I thought about it, and Aizawa made a good point about you." Tenya said to me.
He voted for me?
"I did it because you're smart." Tsu told me
"Momo is also smart. Why not vote for her if that's your criterion?"
"You came up with the plan in the trial, didn't you? And Momo was on your team," Tsu said
Okay, that's a good point. I'll concede that.
"I also voted for you, Eleanor." Midoriya told me.
"You did? After what we talked about?"
"Your mind thinks differently. I thought about it, and I think most of us here have an ideal view of heroes, you don't. But not in a bad way! I mean, in a way of having a more diverse set of thoughts! By having you as a different mindset, I feel it would lead to more constructive arguments." Midoriya said
Why are they all of a sudden making good points? And everyone having an ideal view of heroes? I mean, sure, everyone here might fall under that brand term, but there are different levels to this idealization. Like, I'm sure Shoto, Bakugo, and Midoriya don't have the same ideal for heroes. Especially Shoto.
Fine, I'll concede that as well.
"Alright, since the people have spoken, I'll be the class representative."
Well, as an American, I have to spread the values of freedom and democracy. Democracy is truth. And whatever else the giant robot says.
"Good, you've decided. Eleanor will be the class president, and Momo will be the vice-president according to votes." Aizawa said.
Heh, he's doing it how elections in America were at one point. The one with the second most votes becomes vice-president. Imagine if America had that system today. The chaos would be funny.
"Okay, so what now?" I asked Aizawa.
"Now, you select the class officers. The secretary, treasurer, and so on. There's a list of what you need to select on the podium."
Walking past his sleeping bag, I reached the podium and picked up the list.
There was a secretary, treasurer, historian, cleaning, event planner, and general affairs. Okay, this won't take long.
"Momo, come here and help me. Oh, and please don't address me differently, just keep calling me Eleanor, but if you want to, don't be overly formal."
"You want recommendations for who to pick for these positions?" She whispered to me as she got close.
"Yeah, and why are you whispering?" I whispered back.
"For privacy."
I looked up at the class. Wow, they were way too into this. Their eyes were boring holes into Momo and me as they tried to listen in. Is this really that big of a deal?
"You do know Kyoka and Mezo could just listen in with their quirks, right?" I said as I saw Kyoka and Mezo discreetly using their quirks. And when I brought it up, they just so coincidentally stopped.
"Oh, I guess you're right."
"If you weren't vice-president, I would pick you for treasurer, since you have the most experience with money here."
"Are you going to pick by most technical experience?"
"Yes, I'm going to be technocratic about this. Let's start with the secretary. The obvious choice would be Tenya, but he could also be a treasurer. His family is wealthy, so he most likely has experience."
"His family?"
"Yeah, his brother is Ingenium. Anyway, I feel like he could do both roles, but maybe treasurer would be best instead of secretary. Both roles require strictness and keeping good records."
"We can decide by looking at the next best canidates dpending on where Tenya gets assigned. If he's the secretary, who would be the treasurer? And if he's the treasurer, who would be the secretary? We can decide based on which option is better."
"Hmm, good idea, Momo. Let's see, if I make him the secretary, the best option for treasurer would be…not a lot of good options. Almost everyone here doesn't have much experience with money. Tenya is a bit too good at a lot of things. He's like a queen in chess. He can do a lot, but he can only play a certain way in this situation."
Damn it, why do Momo and I have to be the president and vice-president? Momo would be best as treasurer, I as secretary, and so on. Great, the queen problem also applies to Momo and me in this situation. Our best roles aren't this.
"Let's look at the other option, making him a treasurer," Momo whispered to me. Well, we have to make do with what is present.
"If I make Tenya the treasurer, the best option for secretary would be…more varied. Maybe Ochaco, since her family has a construction business, she probably has some experience with secretary work, or has been exposed to it at a minimum. Maybe, Shoto, since…nevermind, that's too unpredictable. There's also Midoriya, since he takes very good notes on heroes, it could translate well into the secretary role. Yeah, thats sounds good."
"So, Tenya for treasurer and Midoriya for secretary?"
"Yeah. Now we need to appoint historian, cleaning, event planner, and general affairs."
"There's not much technical experience here to go off of. We need good record keeping, someone who likes cleanliness, someone who has experience with events and celebrations, and a jack-of-all-trades."
"Okay, I think Shoto for historian, Koji for cleaning, Kyoka or Mina for event planner, and Mezo for general affairs,"
"Why Shoto for historian?"
"He's the kind of person to think about the past. As for the others, Koji liked animals and has a pet, so he most likely has good experience with keeping things clean. Kyoka is a musician, so she probably has better ideas for events, and maybe Mina could be a helper or something to her. And Mezo for general affairs, because he works well with everyone."
"Are those your final choices?"
"Yes. Alright, I'll announce them."
Momo stood to the side, and I got ready to announce them.
"All right, Momo and I have come to a decision. Teyna, you'll be the treasurer, Midoriya, you'll be the secretary, Shoto, you'll be the historian, Koji, you'll be cleaning, Kyoka, you'll be the event planner, and Mezo, you'll be general affairs. That is all, and no, I won't hear anything; the decision is final. Aizawa, we're done." I got off the podium and went back to my seat. I made sure to tell Aizawa I was done, so he could take over the class, and so I wouldn't have to hear whatever words they would shout. The last thing I want is to hear someone complaining about why they weren't chosen for a certain role.
I got back in my desk, and just as I could feel people would talk, Aizawa came in clutch.
"That was faster than I thought it would take. With that over, let's move to the next item. We're going to talk about rescue training."
Here we go. The moment I've been waiting for. I can't wait to rack 'em up.
