"U-Uhm sir that's your fifth one-"

"Keep em coming."

Right now I was eating a seafood stew, it didn't taste that bad but it wasn't very filling. The only reason people probably only get one bowl was because it looked very strange and the texture and consistency was similar to slime.

'Hmm, it's noon'

I looked at the sun high in the sky, ever since clocks or watches weren't a publicly available thing I've been thought how to read the sun and moon to calculate the time. Sure it isn't to the the very second or minute but I could still find out what time it is by hours. Since I don't exactly know how to make those sun dials I sometimes saw on reddit.

"Here keep the change"

A bowl of the stew cost 10 notes each so I left 60 notes as a tip before I stood up from the stew stands stool before making my way to the docks and I was greeted with the sight of my little sloop with reinforced iron plates screwed into it, and the oncr ruined and stitched up sails were now replaced with a clean and new sturdy white sail.

"Well just in time boyo, Just got her from the back she's ready to go"

"Thanks, I noticed how you replaced the sail"

"Ay, can't have a crappy sail on your vessel!

I gave him a look of gratitude before I stepped into the sloop and opened Kelsius's Journal, other than the fact that it contained some notes and helpful information for survival it contained a map of the Etrean Eastern and Central Luminant.

'So the Songseeker wilds is two hours away.'

I sighed at how far it is, at least there was a shortcut using the Highway but apparently if I didn't reinforced my sloop it would have been torn apart by the oceans currents.

"Well thank you for you're services sir, now excuse I will be on my way."

"Good luck boy!"

I waved him goodbye as I lowered the sails and as soon as I did the winds started to push it, the thing about the deepwoken world is that for some reason there is always wind strong enough to push the sails it doesn't matter where you are the wind seem to always find its way to your sails.

The Highway is basically a part of the deepwoken ocean that gives your boat a speed boost as long as you're on it, in game it does nothing but realistically if your boat couldn't handle the speed it would break apart.

[The Tale Of Tides]

"Yeah and hour of nothing but the ocean is really boring."

I was halfway to the Songseeker wilds there was a reason I was going to that place, in game it was the second area where you would want to farm when you just started out but in this world it was quite different.

There was a small settlement of monks there and they wouldn't do anything as long as you mean no harm, but since It was close to the Rot Lands many adventurer's would try to go into it without the proper precautions and would be killed by the monsters in that place.

But my main reason of going there was the fact that I could speak to the Flamecharm master and try to learn the attunement if I even had any talent and potential with it, since unlike the game you couldn't just level up your attunement stats even now it would take 10-20 years of training and experience to obtain expert level mantras.

"If I can't use Flamecharm there's always Frostdraw, Ironsing and if all fails I could try getting an Oath."

Speaking of Oaths apparently they weren't that known, even now the only listed oaths in the Vigils Library was Jetstriker and Blindseer of course this was just the Public Section. Even Kelsius only knew about these two oaths which meant that in my head thanks to being Deepwoken lore lover I basically had information that people would pay good money for.

"If I ever go to the depths I could go to Klaris and try to trade this information for an Enchant Stone, and that's if I don't get killed in the depths."

Before I could think of anything I felt something hit my sloop by the side, there weren't that many monsters that could do that in the middle of the ocean so there was only one thing that could have done it.

I looked over the side where my sloop was hit and suddenly I saw something rapidly approaching me from deep withing the ocean, I brought my head back narrowly dodging the bite of a giant shark and lion hybrid aquatic creature.

"Great my first monster is a freshie killer."

[The Tale Of Tides]

Right now if I were to scale his strength and abilities it would be just slightly above the Vigil Guards, his trump card currently is slight physical mantras and his alloyed katana.

Of course he'll get stronger but don't think that it would be instantaneous

"Alright wait for the head to show up again...."

It was safe to say that Joseph was paranoid, he was gripping his Katanas handle so tightly that his hands were starting to hurt. Some may say he was doing it out of fear or nervousness but in reality it was something he had to do to make sure that his grip wouldn't loosen while enhancing his physical capabilities.

*Gurgle.....*

He turned around and leaped off the boat as the head of the lionfish poked out of the ocean, Joseph with his Katan in hand span around to not only dodge the lionfish's bite but to also allow his katana to run through it's body like butter.

But unlike what he expected it didn't fully go through, so the lion fish who now had a Katana run through half of it's body began flailing around.

'This sucks!'

Despite it's attempts Victor wouldn't let go, so instead of flailing around it started to submerge itself to the water going ever so deeper each passing second.

'Crap if I don't hurry this up I may end up in the depths!'

Joseph pulled the revolver he got back in summer aisles and aimed it directly at the beast's head, now normally if a gun specifically a revolver were to be fired under water it wouldn't do anything due to wet powder.

But the guns of this world was different they were designed to be used in any environment, so when Joseph pulled the trigger point blank at the head of the lion fish it immediately went limp and Joseph who saw it pulled his Katana out and started swimming back to the surface.

"Hu.....hu...."

Taking a deep breath of air he looked around to see where is boat was to only spot it a few feet away, he sighed in relief as the lion fish didn't attack him when he was in the highway or he would've not only injured himself due to the currents but he would've also lost his boat.

Splash!

The limp corpse of the lionfish finally floated back up causing Joseph to smile as in this world it's corpse would sell for a lot of notes.
