"Come over for dinner!"
Mark Reed was currently with a few partners, having been poured a considerable amount of alcohol, already feeling quite dizzy.
"No, I have other things to do."
Turstin Muller said, then hung up the phone.
He wouldn't spend his valuable time socializing with partners; Valentine Teller was a priority.
Valentine vaguely heard Mark Reed's voice.
She hesitantly asked, "Whose call was it?"
"A colleague from work." Turstin casually brushed it off.
"Oh."
Valentine didn't press further.
But she had already guessed that it was Mark Reed's call.
Somehow, since seeing Mark Reed in the news that day, she kept uncontrollably thinking of him.
It was as if she had known him for many years.
Yet, she had no memories of Mark Reed.
And that sense of familiarity hadn't faded.
Turstin asked Valentine what she wanted to eat.
She thought for a moment and said, "Tomato and egg noodles."
