Jareth was stunned by the sudden barrage of notifications that appeared when he successfully cast the powerful seal on the golden nail.

Jareth has never truly figured out the mysteries of this weird system.
It wasn't in the game, as there was a character leveling system in the game. This system is purposely asking him to change the destiny of the world as if it knows that the world is headed towards ruin and wants to change that.
