Chapter 160: Absolute Being's Corpse
______________________________________________________________________
- Felix -
"With the topic on the Cardinal World, now is a good time to talk about the extra variables that I had mentioned."
I wasn't sure how they were going to react to threats from the Cardinal World being here, and they'd be able to connect the dots pretty easily and realize it was probably my fault that they were even here in the first place.
The Radiant Fragment of Brilliant Light nodded. "Before that we had one last question."
I raised a brow. "Oh?"
"Then if you do not mind us asking, why is your own aura so similar to the aura we sensed from the Cup of Reincarnation? It is not an exact match, but it is too close to be a mere coincidence." The Brightest Fragment of Brilliant Light asked. After a moment he continued. "You said that Veldanava had a child that weakened him… could it be!?" He asked with widened eyes.
I could only laugh at his assumption.
"No, no, nothing like that. His kid is actually one of my best friends and is here in this world too."
They all seemed to be shocked at my response, as if they were already assuming that I was Big V's kid.
"You might already know about her depending on the surveillance you've been keeping on Earth. She's the pink haired one."
"The one known as Demon Lord Milim?" The Illustrious Fragment of Brilliant Light asked with some surprise, which was understandable.
At first glance, Milim didn't really seem like the daughter of God, even though she was the nepo baby. Maybe the first nepo baby in existence, and if not the first, she was certainly the greatest.
"Yup, that's her."
"I-I see." He responded after a moment. "Then why does your energy signature feel similar to that of the Cup of Reincarnation's? Even though it is not a perfect match, I believe it is far too similar to be a coincidence. Something like that should not be possible without some intentional alteration done to you."
I didn't mind explaining, Factors were present in all worlds, though to different extents and with differing alignments and in differing forms, but they were still present. They weren't the exact same from world to world, but close enough that the description worked.
The Rulers for example had some sort of Angelic Factor. They were different from the Factors from the Cardinal World, and they had a slightly different taint to them, but the functions were the same.
In the end, the Factor was the essence of the person.
I'm sure the Rulers should have enough knowledge about them to realize what I was going to be getting at.
"There are things called Factors that each being in the Cardinal World possesses. I have my own Factor as well. I pulled some shenanigans basically and integrated Veldanava's Factor." There was no point in keeping such a thing hidden. Hell, if anyone asked, I'd probably just tell them outright, even back in the Cardinal World. Well except maybe Guy, just because he'd be annoying.
The Rulers seemingly didn't know how to react to that and just moved on, which was reasonable. Thinking back on it, what I did with the True Dragon Factors was batshit insane. Factors were the essence of the person. Integrating three Factors from beings on the highest classification of existence was pretty crazy.
But Brahma, Lord of Creation and Othinus were more than enough to make it work without changing who I was. In the end, it all worked out and my power grew to the leagues of the True Dragons, at least by definition.
"You guys don't have any more knowledge about the mysterious energy that the Absolute Being was able to manipulate? Maybe some other things he left in his 'journal'?"
They may not have delved that deeply into it earlier because they had no reason to think I cared, but if they had more information, then that could prove very useful to me now that I know it's somehow being created inside of me.
'Is the energy just appearing from thin air? You said that Infinity Space was likely imitating the process that a universe goes through before it is created.'
Essentially it was a blank canvas waiting to be painted on. Not exactly the same as a real universe, but similar enough in its state.
Infinity Space was always a blank canvas I could freely paint on though, but according to Othinus, it was becoming more than that. It was difficult to put into words directly.
"I believe there is some sort of unknown phenomena occurring within Infinity Space, one I cannot understand at the moment." Othinus said, though she sounded extremely frustrated.
'So a phenomenon is creating this energy then.' I stated, as that was the only reasonable conclusion I could come to.
And it wasn't unprecedented that Othinus couldn't understand something that was going on in Infinity Space, despite it essentially being my inner world. The case was the same with Information Particles prior to me acquiring the data for Gabriel, Lord of Patience which boosted me into a Digital Lifeform right away.
Without Gabriel, it would have taken me much longer to understand the mechanics of Information Particles and be capable of manipulating them.
"I believe so."
An idea came to mind with Othinus' words. Seeing as this mysterious energy formed before the creation of a universe, and after its destruction, there may be a few people that may actually have a bit of an idea about it.
After all, the Primordial Daemons were some of the oldest beings in existence. And I just happened to know all of them. There was still a chance that they didn't know, though. Most of them hung around the Daemon Realm for most of their lives and weren't very involved in the process of this multiverse being created, but it didn't hurt to ask at least.
If they don't know, then maybe Dino did. He was around before the Cardinal World was even created. Surely he would at least know a hint of something. If he'd be willing to explain was a different thing entirely.
I didn't really want to tell Guy about anything, as despite being allies and even friendly with each other, I didn't trust him enough for that. Who knows how he'd react if he knew I had access to such an energy. It all just sounded too troublesome.
Dino was chill though. I think.
"No, there is nothing else we know unfortunately." The Brightest Fragment of Brilliant Light responded to my earlier question about the energy the Absolute Being used.
"I see. No worries then. It was a long shot anyway." I said with a shrug. It was a bit concerning that the energy that was used to create universes was slowly accumulating in my Infinity Space, but it was quarantined and therefore handled for the time being.
It didn't seem to be an actively harmful energy, so it was probably fine to leave it be for the time being and try to understand it more before messing with it at all. I was a bit excited about understanding it more. If I could learn to manipulate it, then who knows what my limit would be.
I could use Brahma, Lord of Creation for most purposes, but maybe this energy was more efficient, or it could be used to accomplish greater feats with Brahma.
"Now, as I was saying since we were on the topic of the Cardinal World, let me explain the other variables that have shown up that I mentioned when I first arrived here."
I didn't hide anything from the Rulers, as I felt there was no reason to do so.
I went on to explain a bit about the Phantoms and how I found traces of them in the Chaos World when I visited.
I shared a bit about their origins, and how they were from another universe. How they seemed to mostly operate on stealing other people's bodies, and seemed to visit other universes and destroy them just for the love of the game and nothing else for the most part.
I mentioned that they were now working with or for the Monarchs. As for their reason, I didn't know, but I could make some guesses that I shared with the Rulers. I did make sure to mention that the strong Phantoms shouldn't be present, as the amount of energy needed would be more than what the Phantoms could gather in this period of time, even with the time dilation.
"So these Phantoms as you call them are essentially Angels, just like us, however corrupted versions?" The Glittering Fragment of Brilliant Light asked to confirm.
I nodded. "They were corrupted due to the universe that they came from, according to someone I know."
And I didn't think Velzard would give me misleading information about something like that for no reason. Not to mention I was able to confirm a lot of what she said by going through the mind and soul of that Phantom Megumin and I managed to come across. I only confirmed the basics as that Phantom was low on the hierarchy, but it still gave credence to Velzard's words.
I had also asked Zegion a bit about the Phantoms in the past, which made him a bit flighty but he answered what he could. He didn't know a whole lot more than the common Phantom that I came across in the Chaos World, in the end.
"Hmm, and they have come to our universe only to cause chaos?" The Radiant Fragment of Brilliant Light asked.
I nodded. We had some more back and forth discussion about the Phantoms and their capabilities as well as their possible motives and threat levels.
Overall, I didn't think there would be many powerful Phantoms present due to the restriction the portal that connected the Chaos World to their home universe had, but there was always a possibility they managed to flood the portal with enough energy to allow a stronger Phantom to come through. And if that happened, I'd already stated I'd handle it.
"Was it merely a chance that they ended up arriving in our universe?" The Radiant Fragment of Brilliant Light asked sternly.
"Could be, or it might not be as well. Maybe they were able to leech off my own travel to this universe and use that to appear here. The possibility of that being the reason is why I'm willing to offer so much help to you all."
As it was, the plan was for Megumin and Lalatina to be the main helpers if it was necessary. And if someone really strong came through the portal from the Phantom's universe, then I'd be the one handling them.
The Rulers were silent for a moment before coming to a seemingly mutual understanding with one another. They were probably blaming me a little bit, which was valid, but they understood there was nothing they could do at this point.
It was tyrannical of me, but in the end I was still a Daemon and a Demon Lord. I'd prioritize myself and my own enjoyment as well as that of those close to me over any potential issues said enjoyment may cause.
"Very well then." The Brightest Fragment of Brilliant Light responded after a moment.
"Do you all still have the Absolute Being's body, or did he disperse into energy?"
Most Spiritual Lifeforms would disperse into energy when they die, though their physical vessels would remain behind. If I could get my hands on the Absolute Being's physical vessel, then I was sure I could get some good data.
The Brightest Fragment of Brilliant Light looked at me with suspicion, but responded nonetheless. They were clearly going all in on me at this point, which was the right move to be honest.
"His physical vessel remains behind… why?"
I smiled, which only seemed to make the Rulers even more wary. "That's great. Now I have an offer you cannot refuse." I paused for a moment. "I don't mean that in the sense that I'm forcing you to take it." I added before they could overreact.
"We are listening." The Brightest Fragment of Brilliant Light responded after a moment.
"Now you all have no love for the Absolute Being right? So why don't you give me his body, and I'll power one of you up. You should jump to beyond the levels of Ashborn and Antares with what I'm going to do."
My plan was just to name one of the Rulers, giving the Ruler I name an increase in power. There was no need to make it overcomplicated or anything; a simple naming should do the trick.
There was no further evolution for them to be had, but a name from me should still do quite a lot due to the sheer gap between them and my true self.
Naming was a thing that was present throughout this multiverse, just in different forms. Most universes were too weak, didn't have the energy for the Laws of Naming to actually work, or it was restricted due to differing Laws in some universes. The Rulers weren't named, so it wouldn't be hard for me to do so. They did have a title engraved onto their souls though, likely from the Absolute Being which functioned similarly to a name in that it helped solidify the ego.
In this world, I'd found some non-humans were named, others weren't. So it was similar to the Cardinal World in that respect, and I imagine it was similar across the multiverse.
Some beings were even born with names. Then, of course, all the Humans I'd met on Earth were also named. They just didn't get anything due to the way naming for Humans worked.
Though I do wonder if a Hunter had ever accidentally attempted to name another being. Probably not since it worked off of intention.
"How would this process work?" The Brightest Fragment of Brilliant Light asked after a moment. I sensed something similar to a Thought Communication going on between the Rulers as well.
"I would be bestowing a name of my choosing upon you. It would be engraved into your soul, strengthening the soul with my energy as well as strengthening your ego, not that you really need the latter."
"We will discuss amongst ourselves." The Brightest Fragment of Brilliant Light told me. "Until then, we will have one of our subordinates guide you around, if you are not opposed."
I shrugged. "Sure."
With that, I got up and left as the Rulers called on one of their minions to guide me out. It was fair enough that they wanted to think things through; I did just ask for their dad's body basically, even if he seemed like an absolute fuckwad.
The Angel that was guiding me had minimal ego, and was mostly just a bot capable of answering some questions and nothing more. He was decently strong, though.
The first place I was led was their archives, a massive library-like space, except the "books" were more like bottles of memory and slabs of light, which was certainly something. I skimmed a few shelves, and most of it was just them recording events they thought were important.
There wasn't a lot to see in this dimension, though. It wasn't like the Rulers needed recreational facilities or anything actually fun, so it was mostly just training facilities, places where records were kept, and some storage for random artifacts.
Nothing too interesting in the end.
After the short tour, I was led back to the meeting room where the Rulers were already waiting for me.
As I took my seat the Brightest Fragment of Brilliant Light spoke up. "We have made our decision. We accept your offer."
"Great. Which one of you will I be giving a name then?" I asked.
They all looked at each other for a moment.
"I will." The Brightest Fragment of Brilliant Light said.
"Alright, let's get this over with then."
I quickly destroyed the Parallel Existence I was in and moved my consciousness back into my main self that was essentially just comatose inside of my Infinity Space. After that, I appeared in front of the Rulers again, though this time they looked even more shocked.
"Ah, it's always nice to be back in this form." I said with a sigh. I knew why I was restricting myself in this world, so that it wouldn't actually feel like I was holding back in a fight, but there was still a world of difference between my real self and Parallel Existence self.
"Wh-What did you do?!" The Brightest Fragment of Brilliant Light asked. "The aura you are passively releasing alone dwarfs what it was before!"
"Ah, that's my fake body so that I get the chance to have some decent fights without feeling like I'm actively holding back." I gestured to myself. "This is my true body."
I wanted access to all my power before doing the naming as I didn't want anything to go wrong.
The Rulers seemed about ready to shit their pants if they were capable of it.
"Let's begin." I said gesturing the Brightest Fragment of Brilliant Light towards me.
"Hmm, now what name should I give you?" I mused out loud. "Ooh, I got one. I name you 'Lucian'."
Lucian could mean light, or brightest one. It fit with the whole theme he had going on.
Lucian gasped as some of my energy flooded into his soul, and engraved the chosen name into it.
Light flared all around him as his power grew before the light flared outward in a halo that made even the other Rulers instinctively step back.
"Wh—" He tried to speak, but the word came out as a hoarse whisper. His power was rolling off him in waves. It was a good bit greater than before, and so his control suffered for it.
"He's… changing." The Glittering Fragment of Brilliant Light muttered.
My expression didn't change as I watched the process. Though I made sure to sever the connection that was forming between us before it could form.
Naming isn't flashy on the surface; most of the work happens underneath, but this one was fun. I funneled a bit more of myself into the etching. Nothing crazy, but enough to give Lucian a bit more oomph.
After a moment, his aura calmed down as he did his best to rein it in. It wasn't perfect, but it was good enough.
"Any issues you feel?" I asked.
After a moment Lucian shook his head. "No… I cannot describe how I am currently feeling. It truly is quite… wondrous."
Lucian seemed to be a bit out of it currently.
"You should probably be able to fight Ashborn and Antares now."
Lucian nodded. "I believe so as well. Thank you, Felix." Lucian said as he dipped his head slightly.
I waved him off. "Just give me what I want and we're even."
Lucian nodded. "Very well." He turned to the rest of the Rulers who were all looking at him in various states of awe and happiness. No envy, surprisingly.
"Can you lead him?" He asked the Radiant Fragment of Brilliant Light.
"Very well."
With that, the meeting ended and I was being led to wherever it was they kept the body of the Absolute Being.
In the end, I thought it was a pretty fruitful discussion. I got everything I wanted and more, and the Rulers got everything they wanted and more as well.
Before we left, I asked for the coordinates of the dimension where the World Tree of this universe was. After some hesitation, they told me, but I did bribe them with a Legend Grade weapon I created with Brahma, Lord of Creation for it.
I could locate the dimension myself if I wanted to with some effort, but why do that when the Rulers could just tell me?
I also made sure to tell them that the Phantoms were already beginning to take over some key Humans in power, likely to stir shit up. I'd tell Gunhee as well, and he could tell other people who he believed would trust his word.
"I am beginning a deeper analysis of the Cup of Reincarnation." Othinus informed me.
'Got it.'
It wasn't really for the sake of understanding exactly how the Cup did what it did, as we were already able to figure that out basically, but it was because of something the Rulers said. They said that it was an artifact that Veldanava gave all of the Absolute Being's kind to stabilize the universes they made.
It was an artifact that Veldanava personally made, and likely put a good bit of his essence into. That meant that perhaps there was more that could be acquired from it that could speed up the process of recreating Veldanava's memories without the ego that would normally come with those memories.
As it was, the process of recreating Veldanava's memories was at about 25.12412%, and that was with Othinus acquiring the data for Sariel, Lord of Hope, the World Tree, and even Damrada's Alternative as it was once a part of Michael, Lord of Justice, one of Veldanava's personal Skills.
The Radiant Fragment of Brilliant Light let me down a few halls. Their titles really were a whole mouthful, and while I could name all of them, I didn't really feel like giving them that much.
He seemed to be on his toes as he escorted me around. In fact, through Lover, I could feel a sense of helplessness from him.
I wonder why. It certainly wasn't because of me naming Lucian. No, he was still happy about Lucian's growing power.
- The Radiant Fragment of Brilliant Light -
As he escorted the outsider to his creator's body, he wondered if there was anything he could do. Not about the fact that they would give their creator's body to the outsider. No, as the Humans said, there was no love lost between them.
Though if Ashborn was still around, he imagined that he would be on the verge of a "crash out" as the Humans also liked to say. Humans truly had some amusing euphemisms.
No, his worries were for Felix's absurd level of power that he had displayed. Before, he had been in agreement to make use of Felix's abilities for their own ends. He did not particularly trust Felix, but he believed that if he betrayed the Rulers, then he and his kin together could at the very least have a chance of defeating him.
He displayed incredible combat abilities at Jeju Island, and he had observed the broadcast of it numerous times in order to find out every single little detail about how Felix fought to prepare for betrayal.
After all; trust was earned, not given.
Felix had been helpful, but he was designed to be the cautious one among them, there was nothing he could do about suspecting an outsider.
But with the power that Felix showed… he had no hope of going against him, and that scared him more than the Monarchs. For if Felix decided to do what he wished in their universe, he believed that nothing could stop him.
His only hope was that Felix could finish what he desired in their universe, and then leave and never return.
- Felix -
"We have arrived." The Radiant Fragment of Brilliant Light said as he led me through a set of large double doors.
In the center of the room was a crystal 40 feet tall, and inside of it was who I could only assume was the Absolute Being.
I didn't say anything, I just walked forwards, and raised my palm.
Beelzebuth.
In an instant the entire crystal was absorbed and I began "digesting" the Absolute Being.
After a few moments, he was completely digested. He was strong, but he wasn't even alive anymore, and whatever remnant will that remained in his body was too weak to resist.
I immediately felt a small change in my soul. It had grown a few degrees stronger, and I'm pretty sure my own potential was also enhanced somewhat.
From a basic analysis, I could tell that the Absolute Being was an Ultimate Lifeform like the True Dragons. He could fight at the Ultimate level just due to his own existence being at that level. Though that didn't mean much when he had no real combat power due to the restrictions Veldanava placed on him.
'Anything else you can get, Othinus?'
"I believe he will decrease the time remaining to recreate Veldanava's memories, as well as perhaps slightly enhance my own understanding of the energy within Infinity Space."
'That's something then.'
"Even with that, however, I believe it will be a struggle to understand the energy in Infinity Space. No matter what I send at it, I do not receive any information back. The analysis waves I attempt to use are reduced to nothingness, leaving me to only make use of my own observational abilities, which will result in an extended period of time."
'Nothing that can be done about it. You probably have some of the best observational capabilities in existence, so I'll believe in you.'
I was well aware of Othinus' superiority in the finer details.
"Thank you, Master." Othinus responded bashfully after a moment. "I believe I will need to resort to Information Particle levels of analysis, but that will take a significant portion of my computational power. That combined with recreating Veldanava's memories will significantly reduce what I am capable of."
'That's fine. I can handle things myself too!'
"I did not mean to imply you were incompetent Master!" Othinus hurriedly replied.
'Haha, I know. I'm just joking. In all seriousness, do what you think is best. I trust you, Partner.'
"Very well then."
Worst case, if something major was happening, Othinus could always pause her analysis to focus on helping me. In my day to day life, however, I was more than good enough to handle almost anything.
'Be ready though; our date is still happening!'
I could feel Othinus' spike of embarrassment and excitement, as well as some far deeper emotions. Emotions that were far more intense than even Lalatina's and she was by far the one who felt things the most deeply among my lovers.
I suppose that puts things into perspective. Othinus may have gained her own complete ego, her own personality and emotions, as well as her own desires and things she desired to do, but in the end her very existence was still based around supporting me and being loyal to me.
No matter how much I tried to get her to have her own hobbies and own enjoyments, in the end it will all revolve around me. It was just in the nature of her as a Manas.
She loved me in a way that was hard to describe and was far deeper than what I was probably capable of considering. I could see that now, even if before I'd pretty much willfully ignored those feelings of hers due to wanting her to learn more about herself first.
Perhaps all Manas felt such things about the person they were born within. Maybe that was why Michael was seemingly trying to mess with Rudra; he was in the middle of a crash out from losing Veldanava.
Chronoa was a bit different since she wasn't born from a Skill, but Chloe's negative emotions over the period of her time loops, but even then she still seemed loyal to Chloe. And Rimuru thought so as well, which meant Chronoa had Raphael's seal of approval.
I shook my head. Now wasn't the time to debate about the nature of a Manas.
I already had quite a bit of Veldanava's memories recreated, around 25% of it, in fact, but a lot of it was from before he even managed to create anything. It was also pretty scattered, more like fragments of his memories rather than his real memories.
I couldn't perfectly control the way in which his memories were recreated, but I wasn't complaining. The mere fact that I could do something like recreating his memories was incredible in itself.
I imagine when I have his complete memories, I'd be capable of doing so much more. Perhaps being able to manipulate the Laws to a much higher degree and with much more proficiency too. Maybe I could even ignore them entirely.
Not to mention more knowledge on Skills!
I imagine that I'll get more relevant memories as more progress is made. Not to mention that Othinus also quarantined those memories off as well, to prevent them from affecting me.
Our plan was to eventually create a sub-skill solely tied to Veldanava's memories, one that would serve as a library of sorts, allowing me to search through Veldanava's memories for certain answers.
After I quickly processed the Absolute Being's essence, I turned around to face the Radiant Fragment of Brilliant Light. "Thanks."
He merely nodded, seemingly not caring that I just ate his creator, which was good for me. And with that, I teleported back to Earth.
That was a fruitful meeting.
- Scoripius -
He allowed a toothy smile on his face as he looked around at his men. Each of them had taken on the forms of various denizens of the Chaos World. Some were strong, others were even stronger. Although he still reigned at the top.
He was an officer-class Phantom, after all, so of course he was the strongest by default.
He couldn't help but feel excitement at just how smooth his plan was going. The Monarchs were slowly losing more and more of their kind, which was only a good thing for him.
A single Monarch was powerful; stronger than Scorpius by leagues, and yet they would not be an issue if his and Lord Cornu's plan succeeded.
Lord Cornu had already been informed of the state of this universe as well as some of its rules and stronger beings, and had decided that he would personally like to visit this universe.
Scorpius did not ask why, as that was not his place; he only agreed. Now he must do his best to make certain that the portal could handle even a fraction of Lord Cornu's weight.
He had gone through the possibilities, and in the end the only viable option to not seem too suspicious to Antares seemed to be to use one of those Monarchs as fuel for the portal.
Such a thing would not be easy, but he had acquired a weapon from through the portal that could enhance his combat potential. A weapon with almost as much energy as he himself had, essentially doubling his combat power.
They could also place various barriers meant to weaken their foe, further "debuffing" the Monarch they would attack.
With that and his legions of Phantoms, then perhaps they could arrange something to ambush a single Monarch, the weakest Monarch left: Tarnak, The Monarch of the Iron Body, and the King of Monstrous Humanoids.
With Tarnak as energy for the portal between this dimension and the Underworld, their home, then Lord Cornu could at the very least send a Split Body to this universe, which was more than enough to slaughter through this entire universe, for Lord Cornu was a Primordial Angel, one of the strongest beings in existence.
And so Scorpius would accomplish his purpose. He would bring Lord Cornu to this universe. With that, even that odd anomaly that Antares seemed interested in would be nothing but a bug waiting to be slaughtered, for none could stand up to the might of a Primordial Angel.
- Cornu -
Cornu felt the stinging emotion of anger, as he always did. Only this time it was slightly more intense. Some time back, he had gone to Feldway to inform him of a new Space-Time oscillation that appeared due to randomness.
Feldway did what he was supposed to as the leader of the Phantoms, but Cornu could tell that internally, Feldway was looking down on him, like they all looked down at him.
Feldway looked at him, and essentially told him to go away and deal with it himself, and he would have done so anyway.
Were they not supposed to be siblings? Were the words Veldanava said when he created them all completely ignored?
In the end, he was the "weakest" of the Primordial Angels. He was self-aware enough to know that. He was still leagues stronger than anything else in the Underworld, except perhaps Ivarage, and yet they all still looked at him as if he were nothing, as if he did not matter to them or to anyone.
And it angered him. They had treated him in such a way for longer than he could remember.
He was always the "lesser one", the one who was a second thought. It was not even disdain they felt for him; they completely acted as if his existence was minor, as if he was no one to be remembered in their own history.
Even Feldway, who prided himself on order and duty, could not hide the quiet mockery behind his eyes.
And yet… it was they who were blind.
Cornu clenched his jaw, recalling the oscillation he had sensed. That anomaly may have been random, but it was also more than that. No, it was an opportunity.
Scorpius had proven himself useful. The officer-class Phantom was once a nameless grunt, but he had gained a name through assimilating the identity of his vessel and become a ruthless and ambitious individual. And above all, he was loyal to him and not the others, which was only natural.
Most of his kind, the Phantoms, lacked any sort of ego. They were merely imprinted with a sense of loyalty towards the Phantom King, which in this case was Feldway, but with a little bit of imprinting of his own he could overwrite that, mostly because Feldway didn't particularly care, which gnawed on him as well.
The fact was that he could only do what he was doing because Feldway simply did not care. He was not a threat in the Phantom King's eyes, and so he was disregarded and allowed to do as he pleased.
Even though Feldway had been planning recently, Cornu wasn't even aware what Feldway's plans were about. Zalario and Obera were the ones that he shared his plans with as they both seemed to have already known Feldway planned to ally with their hated enemies, the Insectars.
And Cornu was tired of it. Tired of not mattering, tired of being disregarded, tired of being the weakest of the bunch, the runt of the litter.
Now he finally had the chance to change things, a chance to be strong.
Scorpius had informed him of some of the details of the universe he was currently in and preparing to invade. He told Cornu about the Monarchs and Rulers and their eons long war, but that wasn't what interested Cornu. No, such a thing was fairly common in some universes.
What interested him was the possibility of passing on the "mantle" of being a Monarch. The Monarchs and Rulers were almost mirror images of the Primordial Angels and Primordial Daemons, which was also somewhat common due to the creations of Veldanava being responsible for expanding the multiverse.
It was obvious that they would take inspiration from their own creator.
Cornu believed that if he managed to take on the mantle of a single Monarch, then his power would soar, and that was ignoring the possibility of taking on the mantle of multiple Monarchs, and perhaps even assimilating and absorbing the souls of the current Monarchs like the one known as Antares.
All in all, the universe that Scorpius was in was one that had opportunities for his own growth present.
The only issue was getting through the portal to arrive in that universe. Even with the weakest Split Body he could create, he would still be too strong for the portal to handle his presence.
He may have been the weakest Primordial Angel, but he was one of the originals nonetheless. He was still far above most beings in all of existence in the hierarchy.
But Scorpius seemed to have a plan in place, and he had not let Cornu down yet, and so Cornu would place his trust in him for the time being.

Author's Note:
Sup everyone, back with another chapter of Daemon. In this chapter we get to learn a bit more about the mysterious energy and how it's acting within Infinity Space. Felix gets to absorb the leftover corpse of the Absolute Being which was one of the main reasons I wanted him to come to this universe, there is quite a lot I plan to do with that, but I'll see what I get to.
We get introduced to yet another Primordial Angel, and this is one with an inferiority complex. Bro is the only primordial to not even have a proper illustration of him in the light novel lol.
