He grabbed the fire fox's jaw with one claw and pried, forcing the soul beast's mouth open by brute strength.
The fox's white flames burst upward and wrapped the claw, biting and chewing at it from every angle, but Saryx didn't even flinch.
His other claw slammed down on the fox's skull.

The fox's head cratered into the ground. White flame blew outward like a shockwave, and its body flickered hard, almost turning transparent.
Alex's heart clenched. He poured more lifeforce on instinct, forcing the fox to stabilize before it dispersed.
Saryx's tail whipped like a black spear.

It smashed into the fox's ribs and sent it flying. Two tails snapped into sparks midair, then regrew thinner as the fox forced itself back together.
The fox staggered up.
Its flames flickered like a candle in a storm, but it still moved, coming for Saryx's throat with everything it had left.
