Months past in peace...for the most part at least allowing me to focus on helping Elise now that I finished her dress
I was put in charge of helping the dragon side of our kingdom grow which basically entails expanding their agricultural ecosystem, construct mines to harness the mineral rich ground and lastly reinforce current structures an expand for anyone who may choice to live on this side
It was hard to figure out where to begin but after getting a couple projects going things fell into place
" this should be good." I stopped polarizing rock to expand a new mine and turned around. The dull thuds of wood hammers putting up pillars and sharp ping of mining echoed throughout
" can you guys handle from here." A bulky man with blue wings and scales stood up to face me after hammering a pillar into place helping keep the ceiling up
" yes thank you for clearing the way sir."
" no thank you, its because of you guys our kingdom can grow steadily and stable." I meant what I said to him without all these people willing too collect minerals, water fields, or any number work ranging from hard labor to simple desk work none of what Elise and I are doing would be possible
As I walked out of the mine taking note of the different mining methods some used what I was use too just a pickaxe against rock while others who were able used their mana by channeling it through items like the pickaxe or a stick they can turn into a little drill when needed
Some even used their elements to break the rock or staves to help focus their elements and amplify it
At the entrance to the mine we stationed a lot of wind elementals their job was to keep the mine filled with fresh clean air so nobody was effected by the mine and to carry large carts into the mine using their elements so the materials could be carried out efficiently
I've been pretty proud of what I've accomplished over her recently it didn't just feel good to help my wife with some of the pressure she feels but also to take care of the people of my kingdom who trust me with their well-being
A roar of thunder drew my attention to a lightning storm that I was told happened all the time some distance away from the mine
It didn't seem to move or ever fade it was just a permanent lightning strikes in the distance
I really wanted to check it out but I was told it was too dangerous but I doubted it would be for me
" tell the former king I'm going to check that out." I pointed out to the distance before traveling im that direction it took a while for me to get there but when I did it wasn't disappointed
Around me the sand was being turned into glass so reaching into the sky like eerie trees thanks to the periodic lightning strikes
" stay here." I spoke to zauto not wanting him possible get hurt following me
Walking forward the ground crunched under my feet. Lightning struck all around me superheating the glass as it follows the ion trails creating more glass trees
The lightning struck me a few times an as is though it didn't harm me in fact it was the opposite it felt more energized
Eventually Getting to what I believed to be the center of this transformed landscape i found a skeleton that lightning continuously struck like it had a vendetta against it
Moving to the skeleton i noticed a shard stuck inside of the body it was of dark and light blue color pulsing with a otherworldly ghostly light
When I picked the shard up a bolt traveled from it up my arm and towards my head where I had a vision of a creature fighting somebody it moved to quickly for their prey to track properly and every hit struck like thunder
But in the end it was struck down as it took its last breath an seeing a opportunity the monster lashed out with its stone tipped tail getting the last laugh on the one who fatally wounded it
When the vision faded i was grasping the shards in my hand 'where's the other skeleton?'
From what I saw in the vision there should have been two skeletons
that's when I saw it off in the distance sun bleach bones in the shape of a slender but mighty beast staring at me with it's hallowed out eye sockets
" I just wanted this I'll be going now." I held up the shard before moving to leave
The entire time we watched each other until I was out of the lightning charged glass landscape " lets go." I quickly got out of there with zauto heading back to the mine
The next hour I spent fixing some problems that had come up in the new mine and a nearby greenhouse underconstruction before heading teleporting to Leon's basement
" sigh" I looked at the work in progress dess on the mannequin. Over the past months I've got a lot closer to alaine so much so that tonight we will be sharing the same bed
So i thought if I do end up marrying her it would be appropriate for her to have her own mythical dress like I made for Elise. I dont want alaine to feel like she is less then If I do chose to take her as a wife, I wish that not to be a problem for us.
Placing the shard on my workbench for later i teleported to Elise office
The room was mostly empty except for Amelia and Elise of course, giving her a peck on the cheek I took the seat next to her as she went through paperwork
" how are things going there."
"Great!', I just helped finish expanding one of our mines over there the others are operating at a better capacity then expected thanks to our dragon citizens. The couple farms we have are in the process of refertilizing the land for crops."
As I spoke listing the things I had started in the dragon's piece of land I took one of Elise's legs in my hand and started massaging it whilst I let it rest on my lap
" good just keep me informed so I can provide the necessary support."
" of course my love....your not going to thank me for the massage." I commented as I moved to the sole of her foot after moving the sandal like footwear she wore here
" dont put up an act like you're doing purely for my benefit you just want to look at it." Throughout our talk my eyes were on the treasure hidden between her legs which was now visible thanks to me lifting her leg up
" can't it be both." Putting that leg down i picked up the next one a did the same
Though her words would denied it, i knew she was enjoying what I was doing. " why are you bare down there anyway."
a little sadness showed on her face, it was quickly overshadowed by the pink shading her cheeks
" it was a mess down there my period came late."
" ohh but I thought you like messes there especially mine ." Rolling her eyes she hit me with the foot i was holding
Before the chair tipped over i forced it back down " im glad I won't be the only one dealing with your terrible naughty jokes anymore. "
A moment of silence passed as the atmosphere got more somber " are you really ok with this...I'll call things off with her if you're not you and Emily are my priority."
" I'd be lying if it didn't hurt a little, but she deserves it. she's a good person and has been through a lot I want her to be happy the way she looks at you and you her says a lot already."
I was about to rebuke her statement but slowly closed my mouth instead realizing she was right. accepting my feelings for her was the only reason im willing to to this to begin with
" im sorry Elise." I looked down in shame that i let another woman sink their claws into me
" its pointless to apologize for your feelings just dont forget me." I could hear a ping of sadness and fear in her voice that she was trying to hide.
" never." Moving closer i kissed her deeply leaning into her, i wanted her to feel every ounce of love for her i have regardless if im by her side tonight or not.
i stayed with Elise until night came and it was time for me to meet alaine
Looking out the window at the night sky i sighed before turning to Elise who put her finger to my mouth to stop me from talking
" go to her...please I'll be fine." Nodding I walked towards the door before I could see the tears she was holding back too fall
Getting outside to the refreshing night air i took a deep breath an walked to alaine's
The busy road was near empty compared to the crowdedness of the day. The lights installed during the eclipse allowed anyone to move around freely and safely
Being a growing city were dont have much of a night life but that doesn't mean our red light district hasn't been growing rapidly. being lost in my thoughts I ended up there
We had a long debate on weather we should approve this type of district in the end she won out but on the condition it was highly regulated
We won't restrict anyone fun but every service that is provided must be safe for the consumer an also the provider
Ignoring the calls from the females and stall workers there i continued down the main road dodging drunks until I came to a side street the would take me near where alaine stays
When I got to alaine's I hesitated for a moment before entering
" I was worried you wouldn't come." Alaine's sweet voice entered my ears as i moved inside.
Moving from the kitchen she walked to the front of the diner where I had just entered smiling at me tails flicking with excitement
