Nigeria's opponent in the quarter finals was Burkina Faso and on paper they didn't look like too strong a team, but after the match against Tunisia, the whole Nigerian side had learned to give respect to any opponent who had gotten to this stage of the competition.
Thus, the preparation for the match was being taken very seriously.
It had become painfully obvious how much of their initiative would be lost if their opponent refused to attack, especially since they played something of a direct counterattacking football system.
They had won the game in the end, but that could only be chalked up to individual brilliance for the first goal.
The goal had led to a massive drop in morale which allowed the second goal to happen and forced the opponents to attack, allowing their usual tactics to work and produce the third goal.
So in the end, it couldn't be said that they had broken their opponents' tactics.
