Scarlet spoke with a hint of innocence and disbelief: "Uncle Mason, where are you taking my dad?"
Though she still didn't understand what was happening, Scarlet felt a vague panic in her heart and clung tightly to Thomas's hand.
Mason said nothing.
Thomas gently patted Scarlet's head, forcing a smile: "Scarlet, go home first."
"No, I'm not going back. Dad, what's going on?"
Thomas slowly pried Scarlet's fingers away and then forcefully pushed her towards Keira, directing his gaze to Keira: "Take her back."
Keira grabbed Scarlet's arm.
Thomas looked at Mason: "It's the Family Head who sent you, right?"
Mason nodded: "Jodie won't cooperate with the Family Head, and we have no other choice."
Thomas chuckled softly: "I understand."
The two had spent a lifetime battling, with Thomas moving from direct lineage to a branch, while Mason rose from a branch to become the direct brother to the Family Head, with grudges along the way.
