Episode(119) Lumi, Opening The Door To A New World!
SOVEREIGN OF DEATH~(119)
How arrogant.
If you were any less human looking I would have swatted you into oblivion with that annoying tone of yours.
[Before you talk at least learn how to speak properly]
Regardless of whether she was some queen or not, Nagisa could never get use to someone constantly talking down to him.
Seriously, now even just looking at her grates my nerves.
Sigh*
But, the spirit queen seemed not to even care about this.
[Enough of you already human!]
What learning to speak? Did others even have the right for her to speak casually to them?
Spit*
Not even a hundred lifetimes would be able to earn someone that right.
[Just tell me how you had achieved victory now!]
She seemed to have completely forgotten how she was scared witless by Nagisa and the mysterious figure and settled right back into her role of an overbearing queen.
[Tell me now!]
Grabbing his ears, she threw a tantrum as if she wouldn't stop until she got exactly what she wanted.
This B*tch!
Her pinching my ears didn't hurt at all, rather her nagging felt like the buzzing of a mosquito by your ears right when you were about to fall asleep.
I waved my hand irritated.
[Stop asking okay!?]
What was she even on about? How did I kill it?
Was this even a question?
[I just stabbed it with my sword, duh?]
For a self-proclaimed queen she seems lacking in the brain department. Poor thing, this whole queen thing must be a massive delusion as well.
The spirit didn't know about his rude thoughts at all. Rather the incomprehensible answer of 'Just stab it with a sword' struck like lightning.
It made no sense to her at all.
Physical attacks didn't work on it which was expected and magic as well would completely pass through it without causing damage.
Although her own attacks would work, the level at which the previous hero could wield her power barely scratched an itch on the reapers body.
And due to the contract, she could only make a move personally without the hero borrowing her power a few times. Even then, her full power strike didn't do much damage and it used that annoying spatial tear ability to teleport her attacks behind herself and the hero.
So, what was just killing it?
It looked easy based on his demonstration just now but even when she saw it she could not understand it at all.
I know the hero was a pivotal part of her life, so him dying to the monster might have caused a scar, but it doesn't seem like something she needs to be so animated about.
In the end, she could only sigh.
[You make it seem so effortless]
???
[Because it was?]
I wasn't boasting. Even at its final bursts of power it was still something I could make light work of.
Perhaps, if it continued to grow until it surpassed Yagar by four or five times I might have to exert a bit of effort but it really was no struggle at all.
It felt like stretching before the work out.
Maybe if it had succeeded in placing a hex on me from the start, I would need more than just a little effort to subdue it but not that much.
I doubt I would even break a sweat.
Thinking about his own thoughts, Nagisa couldn't help but cringe.
Yet, this truly wasn't conceit in the slightest. Just pure confidence and understanding of his own strength.
[kuh!]
The spirit felt frustrated at his nonchalant expression.
Gah! Just thinking about her long suffering of several decades because of that bastard made her even angrier.
And the thing didn't even put up much of a fight!
Perhaps if it had she wouldn't have been so angry but seeing her trauma cut down so easily was seriously like thinking a math exam as was difficult for everyone as it was for you but later realizing that you were the only one who struggled.
How aggravating!
[Tch!]
What now? Are you angry I didn't lose?
Nagisa seriously thought this woman had a few screws loose. But seeing her gradually drop the queen like act in anger made him feel this thing was no longer so displeasing.
[Anyway, what's your name?]
[hm?]
The spirit looked up at me with eyes as if she had swallowed something sour.
[Your name? You've gotta have one right?]
Huh?
Did she not introduce herself at the start? She also began to wonder if she had missed this out, but well it didn't matter.
She didn't even bother to keep up the majesty and just spoke listlessly.
[Lumi]
Lumi, for such an annoying fellow she had a cute name.
[Well, Lumi. I am Nagisa, nice to meet you]
Seeing the finger extended towards her and feeling the goodwill, Lumi sighed.
Right, she couldn't just stay hung up on this forever.
She took the finger with both hands and shook it.
[Nice to meet you]
After, I went to collect the scythe. It wasn't in a deep part of the lake and I just simply had to stand at the edge of the landing while using water manipulation to bring it up.
Examining the scythe, I heard Lumi ask a question.
[So, since this one has graced you with answers I seek some of my own]
I didn't look up, I was trying to examine the materials involved in this scythe to make a decision whether to synthesize or keep it.
[Why doth thou not use Aura?]
She was confused. She had seen him use nature magic all throughout the fight, but based on his fighting style he seemed to be a warrior not a mage.
Though he had used magic, it was just at brief moments to test the opponent.
Wouldn't aura be better to fight as a warrior?
Or, was this monster that shattered common sense unable to use aura? If so then she would really be shocked.
But the answer that came shocked her even more.
I paused at the question that struck me.
Aura?
The heck was that?
[…What-What is Aura?]
[…]
[…]
After a few minutes of explanation I frowned.
That Camilla didn't say anything about this method of using mana at all!
I guess I'll need to have an in-depth conversation with my subordinate later.
Hmph!
[So, you say aura is the mana in the blood?]
Lumi nodded.
[Mana in the origin of all things and it is divided into many stages. The mana that humans and mortal creatures use is both 'Nature Magic' which interacts with the elements to produce phenomena]
This was just directly sending mana out of the body into the world and interacting with the elements according to a spell or magical circuit.
Skilled users of mana didn't need incantations and could use a single word to activate a spell and interact with the elements or were already used to the flow of a magical circuit just imagining it they could cast a spell.
[There are few like you who could can cast magic without spells or magical circles]
In fact, she was very surprised at Nagisa's skill.
This required mana sensitivity beyond human scope to be capable of directly sensing the elements and applying mana.
Even skilled sages rarely reach the first step of this level yet this guy already mastered it completely.
[The second form of mana mortal's use is called Aura]
Aura was applying mana to the blood. One could argue that it sounded easy, however try applying mana directly to the blood without understanding and you would explode into a rain of blood.
The process of manifesting aura included infusing mana into the blood and converting it into Qi. Thus it becomes Aura which vastly strengthens a person body.
Didn't body strengthening do the same thing?
No.
Nature magic essentially influenced the outside world making even body strengthening a type of phenomena of the outside world. Thus the level of body strengthening relied on how powerful the physical body was and if one applied too much they would risk overload.
Whereas, as long as one could fully control Aura to a fine degree then even someone with the arms of a twig could demonstrate power ten times their actual strength.
The only limit was one's own mana capacity and mana control. Well, also ones recovery speed.
Since it was basically converting mana and blood into Aura, blood was also an essential component in this process.
My eyes were already gleaming at the explanation.
Aura, this magical energy was something I had to learn!
But, not now.
[Huh, I though thou would have be driven to death to try this out]
I shrugged.
[Now's not the time]
As she said, if I tried it recklessly I would just end up hurting myself and it seemed like a waste of time.
Even if I could learn it quickly, I was getting worried about Camilla and learning and mastering were two things.
It would take a few minutes or even an hour to full adjust to controlling this new energy.
I might not even have that time to spare.
[And with this thing dead and no clear notifications coming up it's definitely not the boss]
Fanfare oh fanfare where art thou?
At any rate this was not the boss so wasting any more time seemed pointless.
[Very well, I will allow thee to assist me in finding the way out as well as becoming my servant]
B*tch!
I didn't even bother with her. Just when I thought she was getting better, the illness must be severe.
Lumi saw that she was ignored and felt that this human was really rude.
Since the first time he had shown her absolutely no manners whatsoever.
And yet-
[Ahah…Being ignored, it's a new feeling-haah]
???
[It's strange! Strange and yet why do I feel the door to a new world opening!?]
Her body trembled with excitement.
Nagisa at the side heard the words and felt his spine tingle with disgust.
[Close that sh*t! The only doors I need right now are the ones that get me the hell outta here!]
