When she said this, she lifted her head and looked at Su Junhao.
Su Junhao almost choked on a steamed bun.
"What did you say?" Su Junhao finally managed to swallow the bun and stared at her in disbelief.
"He's in the terminal stage of cancer, less than three months to live. Yesterday, because he had no family, the hospital was going to kick him out. I just went over to help him with the admission procedures, that's all. Anyway, we're from the same hometown, sort of." Jian Yanyan lowered her eyes, stirring the porridge in her bowl with a spoon.
The rising steam misted her eyes, and Su Junhao could barely make out her expression at that moment.
There was sadness, and helplessness too, probably.

He picked up another steamed bun and held it out to Jian Yanyan, but she shook her head. "You eat it yourself."
