The lingering heat of summer still clings to Capital City in September.
After school in the evening, Emma Moreland and Ella Moreland, now in eighth grade, sprinted from the junior high to the high school department. The thirteen-year-old girls, with their delicate features, overflowed with innocence and youthful charm.
"Nick!" Emma Moreland tugged her sister as they veered by Jonathan Wilson's classroom door, upon seeing Jonathan Wilson, Emma's face lit up with excitement, "Shall we go home together? I'll let the driver take you first."
Ella Moreland quietly stood aside, watching her sister circle around Jonathan Wilson.
Though the sisters were twins, they looked quite different—the elder resembled their father and the younger their mother. Yet, Emma's personality was far from their father's steady and reserved nature, while Ella's character was calm like their mother's.
