The first thing Aliena noticed was that Sebastian had stopped moving.
He stood before her, staring at the ancient throne rising from the depths of the earth. His golden-red eyes had turned completely black, and the shadows surrounding him twisted like living creatures.
Something beneath the throne was waking.
And Sebastian knew it.
"Sebastian?"
He didn't answer.
She stepped closer. "Look at me."
"Don't."
The word was so cold that she stopped.
"Whatever you've remembered, you need to tell me."
His gaze met hers.
"You don't understand what you've done."
Aliena scoffed. "Then explain it to me instead of giving me another mysterious warning."
Before he could respond, a soft laugh echoed through the chamber.
It came from somewhere beneath the throne.
Then a voice whispered inside Aliena's mind.
There she is.
Her blood turned cold.
My little queen.
She stumbled backward, and Sebastian caught her.
"What did you hear?"
"Something called me its queen."
