The familiar scene resurfaced, and with it came a headache. She massaged her throbbing temples, striving to recall the man's face from her memories, but it remained a blur.
Helpless, she gave up. She noticed a small rabbit plush toy next to her and reached out to pick it up.

Holding the rabbit plushie, she tried to remember, but instead found herself leaning against the large plush toy, and before she knew it, she had fallen asleep.

Outside, Kris Cooper got out of his car. He gestured for the driver to leave and took out his keys to open the front gate.
He went to the backyard and pushed open the bedroom door, but Vera was nowhere to be found.
Her bag was on the table. She should have been off work by now. If she wasn't sleeping in bed, where could she be?
Putting down his laptop, Kris walked into the study, but no one was there.
He turned back to the washroom. Still no one.
