Her weak voice transmitted through the receiver to his ear, making Owen's heart tremble suddenly.
"Are you... feeling unwell?"
Annie opened her eyes and glanced at the caller ID. As expected, it was him.
"Say what you want directly, we're not in a relationship for casual chats."
Annie didn't choose to hang up on him right away; perhaps this unintentional action revealed her heart.
"The boss wants you to investigate Molly Harguez's factory fire case."
Fire?
Annie was stunned. She'd been in a daze these past few days and wasn't even aware that Molly Harguez's factory caught fire.
"Mm."
"If you're really not feeling well, just don't look into it."
Owen Lewis was truly worried about her, and immediately said so.
"Owen Lewis, does what you're saying make any sense?"
She abruptly hung up the phone, sat up straight from the bed, and picked up the computer beside her.
The computer was never turned off, and soon her fingers were flying across the keyboard.
