...
AJ, Nikki, and Alexa looked equally irritated, scanning the ringside area, realizing they had been completely outmaneuvered without a single punch being thrown. Sandro dropped the microphone. It hit the canvas with a dull thud. He turned on his heel, motioning for the girls to follow him, and slipped through the ropes. The crowd rained boos down on the God King as he marched up the steel ramp, his jaw clenched, his dislocated shoulder safely tucked in the sling.
"The Wyatt Family has officially arrived on Monday Night RAW," Cole stated, his voice filled with awe as the champion disappeared behind the curtain. "And Bray Wyatt just put the most dominant champion in the industry on notice."
"Sandro didn't like that one bit, Michael," Lawler added. "He likes to control the narrative. He likes to control his opponents. But you cannot control the Eater of Worlds."
"Let them earn it!" JBL demanded. "Sandro is right! If Bray Wyatt wants a shot at the king, he has to fight his way through the trenches first! The God King isn't going to lose sleep over a magic trick!"
The broadcast rolled on, transitioning away from the mysterious confrontation. The WWE Universe was left buzzing, the unresolved tension between Sandro and Wyatt hanging over the show like a dark cloud, a promise of inevitable violence further down the road.
For the next hour, Monday Night RAW delivered a series of high stakes matches and backstage developments that kept the momentum moving at a blistering pace. Storylines progressed, rivalries deepened, but a distinct, heavy sense of anticipation was steadily building in the background.
The Chicago crowd knew what was coming.
Finally, the broadcast team cleared their throats, the camera cutting back to the announce desk.
"Gentlemen, it has been a night of massive fallout, shocking debuts, and corporate shake ups," Cole said, adjusting his tie. "But we still have one final score to settle. Last week, Randy Orton committed a heinous, unprovoked assault. Tonight, Dolph Ziggler looks for retribution."
"It's a mistake, Cole," JBL warned seriously. "Ziggler has heart, but he is stepping into the ring with a cold blooded killer. Orton punted his head into the third row, and Ziggler is rushing back into the fire way too soon."
The arena lights dimmed, replaced by a cold, golden hue.
The slow, methodical bassline of "Voices" hit the sound system.
The crowd immediately erupted into a massive, hostile chorus of boos.
Randy Orton stepped out onto the stage. The Viper had removed his t-shirt, his heavily tattooed, muscular physique ready for combat. He didn't rush. He walked down the long steel ramp with a chilling, dead-eyed focus. He didn't acknowledge the fans screaming insults at him. He didn't look at the commentary team. His expression was a mask of absolute, unfeeling stone, showing that his only concern in the world was dismantling Dolph Ziggler.
Orton climbed the steel steps, ducking smoothly through the ropes. He walked to his corner, climbed the middle turnbuckle, and raised his arms in his signature pose. The boos grew louder, but Orton simply closed his eyes, soaking in the hatred before dropping back down to the canvas. He stood in his corner, his eyes locked on the entrance curtain, waiting.
Then, the upbeat, electric guitar riff hit.
I'M HERE TO SHOW THE WORLD!
The Allstate Arena exploded into a massive, genuine pop! The cheers rattled the barricades as Dolph Ziggler burst out onto the stage.
The Showoff was moving with incredible energy, but the physical toll of Orton's attack was impossible to hide. A fresh, thick white bandage was wrapped tightly around his forehead. Bright purple bruising was visible along his jawline, and his movements carried a slight, involuntary stiffness.
But Ziggler refused to show an ounce of fear.
He didn't wear a scowl. He wore a look of fierce, unyielding determination. He jogged down the ramp, pointing at the fans, feeding off the incredible support of the Chicago crowd. He stopped at the barricade, high fiving several fans in the front row, drawing strength from the people who had watched him fight and claw his way out of the bottom of the card.
The contrast between the two men was striking. Orton stood in the ring, a picture of cold, sociopathic composure, practically a machine designed for violence. Ziggler stood on the floor, bruised, battered, bleeding passion and raw human emotion.
Ziggler leaped onto the ring apron, grabbed the top rope, and pulled himself into the squared circle.
He didn't go to his corner immediately. Ziggler marched straight toward the center of the ring, stopping just a few feet away from the Apex Predator.
Orton stepped forward to meet him.
The two men locked eyes. Orton stared down with a look of disgusted superiority, his jaw clenched tight. Ziggler stared back with fiery defiance, his chest heaving, refusing to back down an inch from the man who had tried to end his career.
The referee stepped between them, holding his arms out, forcing them to separate.
"Back to your corners! Both of you, back up!" the official demanded, trying to maintain order before the bell even rang.
Orton slowly backed away, never breaking eye contact, retreating to the far corner. Ziggler mirrored his movement, backing into the opposite turnbuckles, shifting his weight from side to side to keep his muscles warm.
The referee moved to Ziggler first, quickly checking his boots and knee pads, glancing worriedly at the bandage on his head. Ziggler nodded sharply, slapping his own chest, signaling that he was ready to go.
The official turned and pointed at Orton. The Viper simply gave a cold, nearly imperceptible nod.
The referee moved to the dead center of the ring. He looked at the timekeeper, took a deep breath, and raised his hand into the air.
He dropped his hand, signaling for the bell.
DING! DING! DING!
The exact moment the sharp metallic sound echoed through the arena, Randy Orton and Dolph Ziggler stepped out of their corners, marching toward the center of the ring as the Chicago audience roared in absolute, feverish anticipation for the collision.
There was no feeling out process. No traditional collar and elbow tie up. Ziggler abandoned all of his decorated amateur wrestling background, operating purely on raw, unfiltered anger. He launched himself forward, tackling Orton around the waist and driving the Apex Predator backward into the ropes. Ziggler unleashed a chaotic, blistering flurry of lefts and rights, his fists flying with reckless abandon, aiming directly for Orton's jaw.
The Chicago crowd cheered wildly with every strike. Orton was caught completely off guard by the sheer aggression. He threw his arms up, desperately trying to protect his face from the barrage, before forcefully shoving Ziggler away and rolling quickly under the bottom rope to escape the onslaught.
"Look at the fire in the eyes of Dolph Ziggler!" Cole shouted over the roaring audience. "He is not intimidated by the Viper! He brought the fight straight to Randy Orton the second the bell rang!"
"It's adrenaline, Michael, and it's going to run out real fast," JBL scoffed, shaking his head. "Ziggler is fighting with emotion. That is the quickest way to make a fatal mistake against a cold blooded killer like Orton. Ziggler doesn't belong in this spot. He's just trying to ride Sandro Zhang's coattails, hoping some of that God King magic rubs off on him!"
"Are you completely blind, John?!" Lawler argued, leaning over the desk. "Ziggler is out here defending his own honor! Orton tried to end his career last week. He has every right to be furious!"
On the outside, Orton paced slowly, rubbing his jaw, his expression darkening into a menacing scowl. He took a deep breath, calculating his next move. Ziggler refused to wait. The Showoff hit the opposite ropes, building blinding speed, and launched his body through the middle ropes with a daring suicide dive!
But the Viper was ready.
Orton stepped slightly to the side, catching Ziggler in mid air, and used the Showoff's own momentum to violently swing him face first into the unyielding steel ring post.
The sickening thud of bone hitting metal silenced the front rows. Ziggler collapsed to the thin ringside mats in a heap, clutching the thick white bandage wrapped around his forehead.
"Oh, no," Lawler groaned, his voice filled with dread. "That is exactly what Ziggler could not afford to have happen. His head is already compromised, and Orton just used it for target practice."
"That is ring IQ!" JBL praised loudly. "Orton knows where the injury is, and he is going to exploit it until Ziggler begs for mercy! I told you, he is out of his league!"
Orton casually slid back into the ring, waiting for the referee to begin the ten count. He watched with a sick, detached amusement as Ziggler crawled desperately on his hands and knees, fighting through the agonizing pain shooting through his skull. At the count of eight, Ziggler managed to drag himself onto the ring apron and rolled under the bottom rope, gasping for air.
Before Ziggler could even push himself up to his knees, Orton was on him.
The Viper delivered a heavy, measured stomp to Ziggler's right ankle. Ziggler hissed in pain. Orton slowly walked around the fallen superstar, delivering another sickening stomp to the left knee, then the ribs, and finally, a vicious boot directly to the side of Ziggler's bandaged head.
"The classic Garvin Stomp, executed with surgical precision by the Apex Predator," Cole noted gravely. "Orton is systematically dismantling him piece by piece."
Orton reached down, grabbing Ziggler by his blonde hair, pulling him up to his feet. He backed Ziggler into the corner and delivered a stiff, punishing European uppercut. The impact snapped Ziggler's head back, his legs buckling instantly. Orton didn't let him fall. He grabbed Ziggler by the throat with both hands, throwing him into the opposite corner with a brutal Irish whip. Ziggler hit the turnbuckles so hard he bounced off, staggering forward directly into a devastating standing dropkick from Orton.
Orton hooked the leg. The referee dropped to the mat.
"ONE!"
"TWO!"
Ziggler pushed his shoulder off the canvas, his face twisted in pain.
Orton didn't show an ounce of frustration. The kickout simply meant he had more time to inflict damage. He transitioned smoothly, dropping his knee across Ziggler's throat, pressing down with his body weight while casually looking out at the booing crowd.
"This is hard to watch," Lawler said softly. "Orton is treating this like a training session. He has zero respect for Dolph Ziggler, and he is trying to humiliate him on national television."
"Why should he respect him, King?" JBL retorted sharply. "Ziggler spent years carrying bags and waving pom poms! Just because he hitched his wagon to Sandro Zhang's Undisputed System doesn't magically make him a main event player! Orton is simply restoring the natural order of the WWE hierarchy!"
Inside the ring, Orton applied a suffocating reverse chinlock, specifically wrapping his forearm directly over the thick bandage on Ziggler's forehead. He squeezed tightly, grinding his bone into the open wound. The referee checked on Ziggler, asking if he wanted to submit, but the Showoff adamantly shook his head, refusing to utter the words.
The Chicago crowd recognized Ziggler's fighting spirit. A slow, rhythmic clapping started in the bleachers, gradually building into a unified, roaring chant.
"LET'S GO ZIGGLER! LET'S GO ZIGGLER!"
Feeding off the energy, Ziggler slowly planted his boots on the mat. He fought through the searing pain in his skull, forcing himself up to a vertical base. He threw two sharp elbows directly into Orton's ribcage, breaking the hold. Ziggler bounced off the ropes, looking to capitalize with a swinging neckbreaker, but Orton countered flawlessly, catching Ziggler's head and dropping to his knees to deliver his signature inverted headlock backbreaker.
Ziggler's spine bowed awkwardly over Orton's knee, and he rolled to the apron, clutching his back in absolute agony.
Orton stood up, a dark, sinister smile slowly spreading across his face. He looked at Ziggler on the apron, then looked down at the broadcast desk.
The Viper ducked through the ropes, stepping out onto the floor. He grabbed Ziggler by the hair and yanked him roughly off the apron. Orton didn't throw him back inside. Instead, he grabbed Ziggler by the waist and forcefully launched him over the barricade, sending the Showoff crashing into the first row of fans!
"Orton is taking this into the crowd!" Cole warned as security scrambled to push the fans back.
Orton climbed over the barricade, delivering a heavy right hand to Ziggler's jaw. He dragged Ziggler through the aisle, slamming his bandaged head repeatedly into the hard plastic seats.
"He is trying to permanently end this man's career!" Lawler shouted in genuine horror. "Someone needs to get out there and stop this!"
Orton hauled Ziggler back over the barricade, tossing him carelessly onto the thin mats near the commentary desk. The Viper then turned his attention to the desk itself. With a cold, mechanical focus, Orton ripped the monitors out of their sockets, tossing them to the floor. He grabbed the black covering and tore it away, completely clearing the announce table.
"Hey, what are you doing?!" JBL complained, standing up and grabbing his headset. "Take it somewhere else, Randy! These are expensive monitors!"
Orton ignored him. He grabbed Ziggler by the back of the neck, hauling the semi conscious superstar to his feet. He pulled Ziggler toward the exposed desk, hooking his head and arm, looking to deliver an unforgiving RKO straight through the solid wood structure.
"This is it!" Cole shrieked, backing away from the desk. "If he hits the RKO through this table, Dolph Ziggler will never wrestle again!"
Orton leaped into the air, pulling down for the RKO.
But Ziggler's survival instincts finally kicked into overdrive.
With a sudden, desperate burst of adrenaline, Ziggler shoved Orton forcefully in the chest mid air. Orton's grip slipped, and the Viper crashed back first onto the floor, missing the table completely.
Before Orton could recover from the impact, Ziggler scrambled onto the top of the exposed announce desk. He waited for Orton to push himself up to his feet. As the Viper turned around, dazed, Ziggler launched himself off the table, soaring through the air, and caught Orton around the neck with a breathtaking, mid air jumping DDT right on the concrete floor!
The Allstate Arena absolutely exploded!
"WHAT A COUNTER!" Cole screamed at the top of his lungs. "Ziggler just drove Randy Orton's skull into the concrete! The Showoff is fighting back with everything he has!"
"That is pure desperation, Michael!" Lawler cheered happily. "He knew he was about to get his neck broken, and he pulled off an absolute miracle!"
Both men lay motionless on the floor as the referee's count reached seven. Ziggler, operating purely on muscle memory, slowly crawled toward the ring. He grabbed the bottom rope, pulling his battered body up onto the apron. He reached back, grabbing Orton by the wrist, and desperately hauled the Viper under the ropes, breaking the count at nine.
Ziggler rolled in right behind him. He didn't go for a pin. He knew Orton was too dangerous to stay down from a DDT on the outside. He needed to hit something bigger.
Ziggler dragged himself to the corner, pulling his body up using the turnbuckles. He waited as Orton slowly pushed himself up to a vertical base, shaking his head to clear the cobwebs.
As Orton turned around, Ziggler charged out of the corner, leaping into the air to deliver a massive Fameasser!
But the Apex Predator was a master of timing.
Orton caught Ziggler in mid-air, spinning him around with terrifying strength, and planted him with a devastating snap powerslam in the center of the ring!
"Powerslam out of nowhere!" JBL roared in approval. "You cannot out wrestle the Viper! He has a counter for absolutely everything!"
Orton hooked the leg immediately.
"ONE!"
"TWO!"
"THRE—NO!"
Ziggler threw his shoulder up just a fraction of a second before the three-count.
Orton's eyes narrowed. He was beginning to grow genuinely frustrated by the resilience of a man he considered to be nothing more than a parasite. He grabbed Ziggler by the hair, dragging him toward the ropes. Orton pulled Ziggler through the middle rope, trapping his legs inside the ring while his upper body hung dangerously over the apron.
Orton locked his arms around Ziggler's head.
"We know what this is," Cole warned, a knot forming in his stomach. "The draping hanging DDT. Orton uses this to tenderize the neck before the RKO."
Orton pulled Ziggler forward, looking to spike him head-first into the canvas.
But Ziggler fought back!
He drove a sharp elbow backward, catching Orton flush on the jaw. The grip broke. Ziggler slipped back into the ring, springing to his feet with lightning speed. As Orton turned around, furious, Ziggler leaped into the air and brought Orton down with a beautiful, picture perfect leaping facebuster!
Orton stumbled backward, clutching his nose. He bounced off the ropes, staggering forward. Ziggler capitalized immediately, jumping five feet into the air and connecting with a breathtaking high angle dropkick directly to Orton's chin!
The Apex Predator collapsed to the mat, staring up at the bright arena lights.
The Chicago crowd reached a fever pitch, the noise practically shaking the broadcast monitors.
Ziggler scrambled over, throwing his exhausted body across Orton's chest, hooking the leg tightly.
"ONE!"
"TWO!"
"THRE—NOOO!"
Orton kicked out, sending Ziggler rolling away.
"He almost had him!" Lawler yelled, banging his hands on the desk. "I thought that was it! Dolph Ziggler almost pulled off the upset of the decade!"
"He is giving Randy Orton the fight of his life!" Cole added, swept up in the incredible emotion of the match. "You can call him whatever you want, JBL, but Dolph Ziggler is proving right now that he belongs in the main event!"
"I will admit, he is tougher than he looks," JBL grumbled defensively. "But surviving isn't the same as winning, Cole! Orton is just getting warmed up!" Ziggler pushed himself to his feet, his chest heaving, sweat and a thin trail of blood trickling from beneath his white bandage. He backed into the corner, watching Orton slowly rise. Ziggler began stomping his boot rhythmically against the canvas, tuning up the band, waiting for the perfect moment to deliver his finishing Superkick.
