Song gasped in disbelief as he saw the scene; it was a sea of pure darkness and blood, constantly swirling together, resembling a small galaxy.
"T-This is… the Soul of the Demon King?!"
Surrounding it were countless black and dark red stars made of crystallized demonic energy and countless circuits and mechanical parts.
At the center, there was a speck of golden light.
"Song!"
Anna screamed as she saw, within the sea of blood and darkness, a little boy.
Half his body was gone already, but it was him!
"Huh?"
The original Song glanced into the skies with his only eye left; he looked weak, half his astral projection already corrupted.
In just a few more minutes, he would be fully consumed by the Demon King!
"W-Who… Who is it? What…?"
He was confused, looking dizzy and exhausted.
He noticed a girl with long blonde hair and shiny rainbow eyes.
And a boy… similar to him.
"E-Eh? Who are…?"
"GRUOOOHHHHH!"
However, his words were interrupted; the moment Anna and Song rushed down towards him, something within this realm awakened.
Countless black and red tentacles wrapped around Song's astral projection, pushing him further down into the darkness.
"SONG!"
Anna raged as she grew desperate, rushing down as her entire soul rapidly began to expand; her Egos were summoned at her side, multiplying by the hundreds.
And then, the tentacles rushed towards her and Song!
"W-Who is that, the Demon King?!"
The Song born from the World's Records grew as desperate as Anna.
"Yeah, it is its soul! See how powerful it is?! It is because it absorbed all your original self's powers!"
"N-No… We still have to fight even more?"
"Don't worry, I came prepared!"
Anna's cosmic powers exuded at full power as Bastet and Sepa merged into her body, and the powers of the White Tiger and the Black Fox did as well.
Her entire soul transformed, gaining golden, majestic, divine armor!
She manifested two golden katanas, swinging them down.
"{Heavenly Myriad Blades}: {Sword Ocean}"
SLASH! SLASH! SLASH! SLASH! SLASH!
Anna cut through the Demon King's Soul at lightning speed, thousands of times at once, as her hundreds of Egos copied her movements with ethereal swords of their own.
The result? A gigantic golden, blue, red, and black ocean of sword slashes, engulfing the hundreds of gigantic tentacles and cutting them to a subatomic level.
This was a technique only achievable within this Astral Plane, where the rules of physics and limitations didn't exist.
Here, Anna could go all-out and even unleash techniques impossible for her to create in her current self.
"GRAAAAAHHH!"
The Demon King screamed in agony as he was rapidly cleaved and slashed apart; Song climbed onto Anna's back as she dove deeper and deeper while cutting through anything.
"H-How deep are we getting?!"
Song grew more desperate as he saw the darkness approaching them; Anna quickly jumped into it, diving as if it were an ocean.
SPLAAASH!
As she swam down, the darkness she swam through quickly tried to suppress her or even consume her soul.
And yet…
The golden armor held strong; it easily reflected the damage while emanating a bright aura of pure light that burned anything into ashes.
"{Super Nova}!"
Anna activated the power of her Physique through her Soul, thanks to the connection they had, which the Heavenly Demon had created using fragments of heaven.
She blasted through all as explosions of light reverberated across the corrupted soul of the Demon King.
Not only was the darkness destroyed, but the soul was being purified!
"A-Anna! The soul is…!"
"I know, it was always part of the plan!"
"But didn't you say we were going to cut the surviving piece?"
"That will no longer work, seeing how far the corruption has run! We're recovering as much soul as possible!"
Anna spread her arms out as her heavenly divine powers were unleashed at full power, Sepa and Bastet strengthening them even further.
"HAAAAHHHH!!!"
With a ferocious and loud roar, Anna became a blinding star, illuminating everything around her!
The Demon King had simply no chance at all, as the light rapidly consumed absolutely everything as fast as possible.
FLAAASH!
"There he is!"
Song pointed down at his other half, his other self, his true self.
The boy was surprised, looking around, confused, as he saw light everywhere.
The darkness of the Demon King was rapidly being cleansed; every inch of it was disappearing.
"Song! Come with us!"
"W-Who are you?!"
"I'm Anna! We are your friends; trust us, please! Your parents sent us!"
"A-Ah… Okay? Okay!"
Song didn't have any time to think anyway, leaping towards Anna with everything he had.
And yet…
"YOU WON'T LEAVE!!!"
The furious voice of the Demon King echoed from within the deepest darkness that had yet to be cleansed, which rapidly began to combine.
A gigantic black sphere manifested, with a single crimson eye and countless, black-colored mechanical tentacles!
"COME HEREEEE!"
It rapidly aimed to grab Song's soul once more and infect him with its giant mechanical tentacles.
"NO!"
Song cried with all his emotions as a huge shockwave of light sent the sphere of darkness flying away.
"UGH?!"
The monster glared as Anna grabbed Song; the purified soul rapidly concentrated around his astral projection until nothing but that sphere remained.
"YOU WILL NOT ESCAPE!"
The Demon King followed them, as Anna noticed the beating of a heart within the sphere; it was the Demon King's heart itself.
"Did that thing create its own artificial soul out of the darkness I purified?!"
Anna was sure she had purified 99.9% of Song's soul by now.
While holding both children in her arms, she flew upwards, aiming to escape through the void they came from.
"COME BACK!"
The Demon King kept chasing them, firing gigantic laser beams at them that released huge crimson explosions.
Anna rapidly evaded them everywhere, flying across the empty space while her Egos rushed down to fight the monstrosity.
They unleashed a sea of swords once more, and yet the Demon King not only resisted the damage but also pushed back and destroyed several Egos at once.
"GRAAAARRRGGH!"
Both Songs panicked, almost speaking in unison.
"Anna! The Demon King's coming!"
The tentacles combined into massive mechanical hands, rushing towards Anna at once and trying to grab her.
The hands closed just a second after Anna evaded the deadly grasp.
Constantly moved from one place to another.
She gritted her teeth, her Aura summoning more Egos.
"Go, go, go!"
The Egos rushed down, attacking the Demon King and pushing it back down, buying precious time.
"RAAAAHHHH!"
And yet the Demon King's heart's will to live was immense; with a furious roar, Anna's Egos exploded and dissipated into ashes.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
"Tch, that bastard's way too strong!"
Anna saw the Demon King quickly catch up with her, appearing by her side! His gigantic mechanical hands stopped her from exiting the Astral Mindscape.
They were just a few seconds from reaching their destination, and yet…
"YOU WILL NOT LEAVE UNTIL YOU GIVE ME WHAT'S MINE!"
"They're not yours, you disgusting piece of shit!"
The Demon King's claws rushed towards Anna; her katanas swung vertically and horizontally as she spun in midair with the kids barely holding on to her.
"{Heavenly Myriad Blades}: {Heaven-Devouring Soul Cleave}!"
Using her own soul as an additional sword, Anna cut through the mechanical hands one after another as they exploded into pieces consecutively.
"NOW!"
She kicked the empty air using the Heavenly Step technique and reached even higher, about to trespass through the dimensional membrane.
"NOOOOO!!!"
The Demon King was insistent, grabbing Anna's leg with its tentacles and trying to pull her down even more than before.
"This damn motherfucker! Give it up already!"
However, out of Anna's armor, Sepa suddenly emerged in her mechanical form, biting through the Demon King's tentacles and tearing them off.
CRASH!
"GRUAAAGH?!"
The Demon King screamed in pain as Sepa helped Anna at the last moment.
FLUOSH!
Anna and the two Songs passed through the dimensional membrane with Sepa, finally appearing in the real world once more.
Song's soul appeared as a glistening golden ghost.
The fused Venerables gasped, immediately beginning to cry as they saw their real son.
"Now, Song, it's up to you!"
"Yeah!"
The Song born from the Records embraced the boy who gave birth to them.
"W-What's going on?"
The original Song was still confused but felt the warmth of his other self embracing him.
"Haven't you realized already? I am you."
"Me?"
"I was born from the Records of this world; I am your Story, Song."
"Ooh…"
"Your mom and your dad worked very hard for this moment, but it wouldn't have ever happened without her help."
"You mean Anna?"
"Yeah, she came from another world just to help us! Isn't she amazing?"
"Wow… S-So I can finally… Can I finally go back?"
"Yes… you can finally come back."
"But my body is…!"
"I will become your body."
"Eh? But won't you die?"
"…"
The Song born from the boy's records smiled back at him and hugged him.
"I cannot die, for I am your Story. We are one and the same, Song. Let's go back to Mom and Dad."
"To Mom and Dad…"
As the boy cried, his soul merged with the Record's physical body.
And before Heaven and Earth…
The Son of Providence was reborn.
