Synopsis
FBI trainee Maya Reyes has one obsession: catching a serial killer who has eluded law enforcement across the Pacific Northwest for years. When a new body surfaces in Seattle with a signature the killer has never left before—a deliberate, ritualistic burn mark—Maya becomes convinced this is her case. This is the killer she's been hunting.
But Maya doesn't know why yet.
Fifteen years ago, a young girl named Lucia was abducted and assaulted by a predator who left her for dead. She survived. She escaped. And she's haunted Maya ever since—because Lucia is her sister.
Now, as Maya closes in on the investigation, the killer becomes aware of her. And he recognizes something in her name: a connection to his only failure, his only escape. The sister of the one who got away.
What follows is a twisted game of cat and mouse across the rain-soaked streets of Seattle, told through the fractured perspectives of a brilliant, charming predator; an obsessed FBI agent fighting her own demons; and a survivor forced to confront the man who destroyed her.
But nothing is what it seems. The identity of the killer holds a secret that will shatter everything Maya thought she knew about her sister, her case, and herself.
It's been.....a while since i've been on here. I think this would be the first crime story that I've written on this website - i've been working on this for the past year or so...
