Aldana Candi pressed her lips together, not moving as she sat there, but an attentive nurse was already pushing her towards Philip Shaw.
The man's cold, dry fingers gently grasped the hand she had placed on her knee, then, as if reassured, he closed his eyes and slowly drifted back into slumber.
Aldana Candi lifted her eyes to look at Philip Shaw's pale and haggard appearance, then gently lowered her head and furrowed her brow.

Because Philip Shaw held onto her and was unwilling to let go, Aldana Candi was forced to stay in the ward to accompany him.
"Miss Candi, Mr. Shaw probably won't wake up for a while. Are you hungry? Would you like to eat something, or take a rest?"
Aldana Candi glanced at her wrist being gripped by Philip Shaw and asked, "How am I supposed to eat like this?"
The doctor was a bit embarrassed, clearing his throat, "I'll ask someone to buy you some bread."
Aldana Candi said, "I want to go out to eat."
