Few days later, Julianne fell ill at school, collapsing, and Melanie rushed her back home after there was nothing to do at the infirmary.
Paige rushed to open the door to her room and as Melanie put her in bed, she asked her, "What happened?"
"She just suddenly collapsed," Melanie answered with worry.
Paige went to Scarlet and touched her forehead but quickly withdrew her hand and looked at Melanie. "She's hot!"
With the way she said that, Melanie guessed it was really bad.
"Get as much ice and cold water from the fridge and help with the bath," she told her and Melanie went to do as she was told.
Scarlet was laid in a tub of cold water and ice flowing around to drop her temperature. It was the only thing Paige figured she could do. After about two hours, her body began to shiver. She was pulled out immediately and wrapped in a blanket to keep her warm.
"I don't understand," her mother said after a while. "Her temperature keeps getting abnormal."
