Tokoyami's footsteps echoed softly across the polished hospital floor, the sound swallowed almost immediately by the oppressive darkness. The place felt… wrong. Hospitals were never truly quiet—not like this. There should have been the low hum of generators, the distant beeping of monitors, and emergency lights casting sterile halos along the walls.

Instead, there was nothing.

No light.No sound.No reassurance.

"Shoji," Tokoyami said at last, his voice low and measured, "can you restore the power?"

Shoji, already several steps ahead, had sprouted additional eyes along his arms and shoulders, scanning vents, corners, and ceilings. He shook his head.

"Already checked the main panels and backup nodes," he replied. "No current. At all. That shouldn't be possible."

He paused, brow furrowing beneath his mask.

"This hospital's grid should be tied directly into I-Island's central control system—and at least one independent generator. Even if the tower's compromised, something should still be running."

Tokoyami felt it then—that creeping, tightening sensation in his chest. Unease wasn't quite a strong enough word.

Something closer to foreboding.

Before he could dwell on it, Dark Shadow abruptly swooped between them, irritation crackling through its voice.

"Hello? Earth to brooding bird and octopus ninja—injured friend here. We are literally standing in a hospital. Can we prioritize not letting him bleed out?"

Tokoyami exhaled through his beak.

"…You are correct. Forgive me."

They moved quickly after that, Shoji locating an open treatment room with practiced efficiency. The door slid open manually—another bad sign—and they laid Kirishima gently onto one of the beds.

Under the dim ambient light filtering in from shattered exterior windows, Shoji went to work.

His hands moved with calm precision. Extra fingers formed to stabilize joints, eyes blooming across his forearms to monitor Kirishima's breathing, skin tone, micro-movements.

"Damage looks severe," Shoji muttered, more to himself than anyone else. "But structurally… he's intact."

He pressed along Kirishima's ribs, spine, and shoulders, then nodded.

"His quirk reinforces his body density. He's closer to a boulder than a human right now. Even that fall didn't cause internal bleeding."

Shoji applied salve to deep cuts, wrapped fractures, and set bones with careful pressure.

"Mostly surface trauma," he continued. "Bruising, fractures, exhaustion. Painful—but survivable."

Kirishima let out a weak groan, his fingers twitching.

"…Told ya… I'm pretty tough…" he murmured faintly, attempting a grin that didn't quite make it.

"Save the bravado," Shoji said gently. "You've earned rest."

Tokoyami stepped back, allowing Shoji space to work. Dark Shadow, freed from its burden, stretched luxuriously, its form growing denser, darker, and more defined as it drifted through the room.

"Ahhh~," it sighed theatrically. "The scent of cool night air… the absence of those annoying photons… truly invigorating."

It floated upside down in front of Tokoyami's face, eyes gleaming brighter than before.

"You know," Dark Shadow added, "I'm feeling fantastic."

Tokoyami groaned softly.

"That is precisely what concerns me."

The darker it became, the stronger Dark Shadow grew—and the more… talkative it became.

Tokoyami folded his arms, gaze drifting toward the hallway.

"This place should not feel like this," he murmured. "Hospitals are sanctuaries. Yet everything here feels abandoned… hollow."

Dark Shadow tilted its head.

"You're overthinking it. Probably."

Tokoyami wasn't convinced.

"Was that unease merely anxiety?" he wondered aloud. "It should be—"

Meanwhile — two minutes earlier

The ocean churned violently as a large speedboat cut across the waves toward I-Island, engines roaring like predatory beasts.

Under normal circumstances, it would have been obliterated within seconds.

I-Island's automated defences—missile grids, rail cannons, EMP nets—were designed to erase unauthorized vessels before they ever reached visual range.

But tonight?

Nothing fired.

Nothing stirred.

Inside the cabin, bathed in soft red instrument light, a screen flickered to life.

A voice emerged—deep, smooth, unnervingly calm.

"The operation has proceeded… quite satisfactorily."

The figure piloting the boat let out a delighted chuckle. He wore a pristine suit, white gloves gripping the wheel, a tall top hat perched atop his head. A mask concealed his face, save for a single, crescent-shaped grin painted across it.

"As expected of you, Mr. All For One," the man replied cheerfully. "Such impeccable stage direction."

The voice continued.

"Proceed as you wish. And do be sure to enjoy yourselves… Mr. Compress."

Mr. Compress tipped his hat theatrically.

"Of course. I'd hate to miss a performance of this magnitude."

Behind him, the cabin was anything but calm.

Tomura Shigaraki crouched near the wall, scratching furiously at his neck, nails digging into skin as he muttered.

"Stupid… shiny hero island… pretending everything's perfect…"

Dabi leaned against the railing, blue flames flickering lazily along his staples as he stared out at the moonlit sea.

"Tch. Feels like a theme park," he drawled. "Hope it burns nicely."

Nearby, Toga Himiko hummed to herself, carefully polishing a collection of knives, eyes sparkling with manic anticipation.

"Heroes~ scientists~ students~," she sang softly. "I wonder whose blood tastes the best here?"

The boat surged forward.

I-Island loomed closer.
