"LOGAN"
My mind was in complete chaos.
She had run away.
Again.
But this time, something inside me had changed.
No. She had changed something.
You can't do this to me!!
I clenched my jaw, replaying her words over and over again.
I still wouldn't choose you.
Not after what my father had done. Not after what District One, my own district, had done to her. And then there was Rosen.
Always Rosen.
She had chosen him. Or at least, that was what she wanted me to believe.
I couldn't stop my hands curling into fists.
"You love him that much?" I muttered.
Fine.
If that was how she wanted to play this, then I would play too.
I had tried to control myself. I had tried to be patient with her. God knew how many times I had stopped myself from pushing further, from asking questions she clearly didn't want to answer.
And I had even kept her secret.
She should have understood what that meant. I knew she was a girl. I knew she wasn't really Rosen Nightingale.
Yet I had told no one. Not a single person.
But apparently, none of that mattered to her. If she had just agreed today...
Maybe I could have stopped myself. Maybe I could have convinced myself to let things go.
But now?
Now she had given me a reason.
A solid one.
The more she resisted me, the more difficult I would make things for the person she cared about most.
Rosen.
My eyes darkened at the thought of him.
"You should be thankful," I spoke quietly to the empty room. "For not telling anyone about you."
Her secret. Her identity. Until now, I had protected it.
But suddenly, keeping that secret didn't feel as important as it once had.
She had made her choice.
And now... It was my turn.
I slowly stood up, wiping the blood from the corner of my mouth.
"You just wait and watch."
A cold smile appeared on my face.
"I'll show you how I play my cards."
