Chapter 190
As I was wheeled towards the operating room, the sterile environment seemed to amplify my anxiety. The bright lights, the masked faces, the unfamiliar sounds. It all contributed to a growing sense of unease.
A nurse approached me, her voice calm and reassuring. "We're just going to get you prepped for surgery, Doctor," she said. "It'll be over before you know it."
She began to attach various monitors to my body, checking my vital signs and explaining each step of the process. As she worked, I tried to focus on her words, to block out the fear that was threatening to overwhelm me.
"We're going to give you something to help you relax," she said, her voice gentle. "Just try to take deep breaths and focus on your breathing."
As the medication began to take effect, I felt my body start to relax, my muscles loosening and my mind becoming more calm. The fear began to recede, replaced by a sense of detachment and acceptance.
