"No worries!" Jax puffed out his chest. "I live there too! I know the road by heart, hahahaha!"
Thomas leaned back against the cushioned seat, weighing his options. Living in the same building as Jax was a double-edged sword.
On one hand, the boy was a walking disaster who had nearly gotten himself killed. On the other hand, Jax was a walking encyclopedia of the world's secrets, gossip, and rules. If Thomas could survive the boy's mistakes, he could use him to bridge the massive gap in his knowledge.
"Fine," Thomas said, looking out the window at the strange, glowing city. "Take me to your neighborhood. Let's see if your taste in housing is better than your taste in directions."
The sun hung low on the horizon, painting the skyline of the town in bruising shades of violet and burnt orange.
