The room was small and simple, barely large enough for the two low beds pressed against opposite walls.
Aok carried Kui through the narrow doorway with surprising ease, ducking slightly to avoid hitting his head on the wooden frame.
The floorboards creaked beneath his boots as he stepped inside, the scent of aged wood and dried herbs greeting them.
Guilin paused at the threshold, his hand still gripping the leather straps of their luggage. His eyes swept over the cramped space—the day bed tucked beneath the window, barely wide enough for one person, and the larger bed against the far wall with its thin mattress and worn quilt.
"I'll take the next room. this one is bigger." Guilin said quietly.
Kui finally lifted his head from Aok's shoulder, his face still flushed pink. "Guilin, you don't have to—"
"It's fine." Guilin's walked over to the next door. "Get some rest. Both of you."
