Yaen Chi was stunned.
Crying?
Crying while holding him?
He was sitting, having to lean back slightly to make it easier for her to hug him. Even with just this bit of support, he felt pain, but why did it hurt in such a sweet way?
Yaen Chi had already forgotten that someone might start cursing. He hugged Ye Wanting back, but didn't hold her tightly, his arms forming a gentle arc, maintaining a respectful distance. He gently stroked her back, soothing her softly, "Don't listen to him, it's all fake. I'm perfectly fine, no more crying."
Ye Wanting sniffed once, unable to cry loudly, instead sobbing quietly, which made her even more pitiable. She looked up, her gaze pouring down worry, "Really? Then why are you... being under house arrest?"
"It's not house arrest. My grandfather has a special status, and all those under him are soldiers. They are concerned for my safety, so he sent people to guard me."
"Really?"
