Chapter 83 - Chapter 82: The Struggle for Control

Delson stood frozen in the underground chamber, the shattered remnants of the Gaia orb scattered around him, the immense power coursing through his veins. He had expected to feel triumphant, invincible even. But instead, a deep, unsettling silence filled his mind, and with it came a growing sense of dread.

The whispers had stopped, replaced by something far more ominous.

A presence.

Delson clutched his head as a sudden wave of pain shot through his mind, like a dagger being plunged deep into his thoughts. He stumbled backward, his vision blurring as the overwhelming force of Gaia's power began to push back against him.

"No!" Delson roared, his voice echoing through the empty chamber. "This is my power! I took it! I deserve it!"

But even as the words left his mouth, Delson felt something shift inside him. The energy that had once filled him with pride and strength now felt like a prison, tightening its grip on his soul. The power was not his. It had never been his.

Give it back.

The voice was not his own. It was not even human. It was something ancient, something primal, something born from the Earth itself. Delson could feel it—Gaia's very essence—pushing against him, trying to reclaim what he had stolen.

Give it back… or perish.

Delson fell to his knees, clutching his chest as the power inside him raged, battling for control. His vision swam with images—flashes of the Earth's core, of molten rock and shifting tectonic plates, of life and death intertwined in an endless cycle of destruction and rebirth. He could feel the planet itself, its heartbeat pulsing in sync with the power now running through his veins.

"No…" Delson growled through gritted teeth, his pride refusing to surrender. "I am the one in control! This power belongs to me!"

You are nothing, the voice hissed, echoing in the corners of his mind. You have stolen what you cannot control. You will destroy yourself—and everything else—with it. Surrender now, or be consumed.

Delson's body shook with the force of the mental onslaught, his mind struggling to hold onto reality as Gaia's voice grew louder, more insistent. Images of the Earth's history flooded his consciousness—millions of years of evolution, of life struggling to survive, of civilizations rising and falling, all tied to the energy of the planet.

But Delson was not willing to give up. Not now. Not after everything he had done, after everything he had sacrificed. He had taken Gaia's power for himself, and he would not—could not—let it go.

"I am stronger than you!" Delson screamed, his voice hoarse with desperation. "I am Delson Snow Sr.! I will not be defeated by a force of nature!"

But Gaia's voice only grew louder, more insistent, as the power inside him began to spiral out of control. He could feel it—his body struggling to contain the immense energy, the very fabric of his being beginning to unravel under the strain.

You are nothing but a thief, Gaia whispered, her voice cold and merciless. You have taken what does not belong to you. The Earth demands its retribution.

Delson's vision blurred as the pain in his mind intensified, his thoughts scattering like leaves in the wind. He could feel Gaia's presence pushing deeper into his consciousness, trying to rip the power from him, trying to reclaim what he had stolen.

"No…" Delson gasped, his body trembling. "I won't let you… I won't—"

But even as he spoke, he could feel his grip on reality slipping. The power was too much, too vast for any mortal mind to control. It was consuming him, burning him from the inside out. His thoughts grew scattered, his memories fading into the dark void that Gaia had created within his mind.

Give it back, the voice repeated, softer now, but no less commanding. Let me go. Let me return to the core, where I belong.

Delson screamed in defiance, but his voice was weak, fading. His body felt heavy, weighed down by the immense power of Gaia, as if the entire planet was pressing down on him, crushing him under its weight. He was losing—losing himself, losing control, losing everything.

But then, deep within the darkness of his mind, something stirred.

A spark.

A spark of pride.

Delson clung to that spark, his thoughts sharpening as he focused on the one thing he had always known, the one thing that had always driven him: his own superiority.

"I am Delson Snow Sr.," he whispered, his voice shaking but filled with conviction. "I am the ruler of this world. I will not surrender. Not to you. Not to anyone."

The spark grew, fanned by the flames of his pride, until it became a raging inferno inside him. Delson's eyes snapped open, his body trembling with renewed strength as he forced himself to his feet. The pain was still there, the power still raging inside him, but now it was his. He could feel it bending to his will, submitting to his command.

"I will control you," Delson snarled, his voice filled with venom. "I will make you mine."

Gaia's voice faltered for the first time, a whisper of doubt creeping into her tone.

You cannot control what is beyond your understanding.

Delson's lips twisted into a sneer as he took a step forward, his body shaking with the effort of containing the immense power. "Watch me."

And with that, Delson plunged deeper into the battle within his mind, determined to bend Gaia's power to his will, no matter the cost.
