THE NISUS
Desire awakened deep inside of her, overmastering, edacious.
She moaned as he deepened the kiss, pillaging her mouth with his tongue.
She welcomed the sweet penetration with delight.
He tasted the corners of her mouth tenderly, creating an encarnalizing ripple effect inside of her.
They were both out of breath by the time he drew back.
He stared down at her, her lips to be precise—swollen from his kisses.
'You are beautiful,' he told her.
She blushed.
His hands came up to her hair to play with her frounces.
She simply watched him, speechless because she didn't know what to say to him.
'I will be gone for a while,' he suddenly told her.
She fluttered her lashes unconsciously at him.
He would be leaving?
That was probably why he had been stressing on the fact that she needed to stand up for herself in his absence.
Something that felt like sadness coiled inside of her.
But she refused to admit it, that she was not happy he was leaving.
'Where are you going?' she managed to ask him after a moment.
He shrugged.
'It is not some far destination. I eill never go far from you Mine,' he said with a broad grin.
She humped.
'When will you back?' she inquired with a lazy gaze.
'It depends,' he said to her. 'But two days is the outrance,' he informed her.
She nodded.
That was better.
At least he won't be gone away from her presence for long.
'When are you leaving?'
He tilted his head.
"Well, I should be gone in a few hours time."
Her jaw nearly dropped.
He was leaving today? And he was just telling her about it now?
She nearly face palmed.
Did this man ever take her seriously?
She desperately fought the hiss that instantly camped at her lips.
She didn't want their last few hours to morph into a fight.
"Two hours you say?" She muttered and he had the guts to nod.
She held back the rage rising inside of her like a dragon from slumber.
He was so oblivious too.
"I have had Cora pack up my luggage but she shall not leave with me. I shall go with another.'
She said nothing until he raised a questioning brow at her.
"Oh," she began.
She inhaled and exhaled.
'Who is it? Xiera?' she acted like she wanted to know.
But he shook his head.
She was curious now.
He never left without either Cora or Xiera since she had known him.
So—
'I shall take Peter and Tiger. He is one of my able bodied assassins,' he explained to her before she could ask him about it.
She nodded.
Then, something clicked in her head and she snapped it towards him.
'You have assassins?' she asked him with raised brows.
He began to chuckle.
He sounded amused by the surprised in her question.
'What emperor does not have them Mine?' he asked. 'I have twenty five trained assassins. And more.'
'I see.'
She sighed.
'You should meet them sometime. You will love to, won't you?'
'Maybe, or maybe not,' she answered him with a lazy shrug.
He knew she was interested although she wanted to appear to be otherwise.
'Anyways, go well.'
'Hmm.'
About three hours later, she was in the bedroom when Vura came to inform her that the emperor would soon be leaving.
She was annoyed instantly because he couldn't even come to tell her that piece of information himself.
Especially after the fact that he had practically left he behind earlier.
Peter had come to call him from the bedroom, drawing his attention to a few things that needed it.
She wasn't among.
She was supposed to be at the top of the list of things that needed his damn attention.
Didn't the man know that?
She had been sulking for the past few hours before Vura had come.
And now she was just pissed.
So she told her aide that she didn't want to see the emperor leave.
Vura must have gone and delivered her concerns to the emperor for he did not come to greet her goodbye.
And that irked her more.
It wasn't until she heard the sound of horses that she realized something.
Her heart instantly dropped in her chest and she couldn't do without goodbye to him.
She was swift to run down to the courtyard like lightning to at least catch a glimpse of him.
But she was too late.
He and his small entourage were leaving, far gone when she got there.
She just stood there, angry and breathless, while stared longingly at his leaving figure, far off.
Her heart felt cold and empty at the sight and she realized that she would miss him greatly.
She broke into soft tears of sorrowful joy as a sudden realization hit her.
This was it.
This was the answer to the questions which had been plaguing her for a while now.
Yes, yes she could love him, in spite of the man that he was.
She was sure of it because she already did.
She broke down more, in bitter sweet tears.
It was sweet in the sense that she had finally scaled the stage of outright self denial.
And it was bitter in the sense that it was all never supposed to happen.
A hand came around her and enveloped her in an embrace.
She went into the warm hug without even bothering to look at the giver.
'He will be back my lady.'
It was Hyeera's voice, gentle and compassionate.
She nodded, she though she couldn't help but continue to sob.
'I know Hyeera, I know.'
The hours after he left her tolled slowly by into days.
There was the first, then the second and still the third day.
But there was still no sign of his return like he had promised.
She was beginning to get angsty.
But Hyeera told her that maybe something had come up on his journey.
She hoped nothing bad had happened to him.
And Hyeera assured her that the emperor would always be fine.
On the third day, in between the nap hour, the lady awoke from her cat nap somewhat thirsty.
She slowly climbed out of her bed as if she were in a deep trance, dazed.
Hyeera who had taken to keeping her company by staying with her in the bedroom all day round in the emperor's absence awoke from her doze.
She discovered that the lady was headed for the bedroom door.
'My lady,' she called after her, thinking that she was trying to leave without informing her.
She stood and went after her.
The lady didn't answer to her.
She only reached the bedroom door and flung it open with the kind of strength that had the aides sitting outside playing cards except for Cora rising to their feet instantly.
'My lady,' they came up to her and bowed slightly to her in obeisance.
But she didn't seem to notice them at all.
It was like she was a different person.
And what she said next proved it.
'Izhxel,' she muttered.
A gasp left someone's mouth.
It was Hyeera who rushed and caught her with fear in her eyes.
She spun her lady around gently and looked into her eyes.
What she saw made her gasp again, her hands falling away from the lady in abrupt shock.
She was gobsmacked.
The other aides came up to see what she had seen and they all gasped loudly.
The healer made to speak but Xiera beat her to it.
'Look, look at her eyes!' Xiera pointed out in panic as she watched her mistress' eyes change colours unsteadily.
'Yes, yes I see it Xiera,' the healer snapped at her.
Panic rose in her throat.
'Izhxel,' the lady murmured once again, trying to move.
'What is wrong?' Xiera asked following as Hyeera led the lady into the bedroom while Cora and Vura stepped in.
They locked the door soundly behind them.
'It's only the Nisus. It has returned, fully,' Hyeera said to them in a quavering voice.
They exchanged glances.
'What is the Nisus?' Xiera asked in confusion.
Vura turned to her.
'It means that we can not control that which inhabits her anymore.'
'Is it that which that blue haired magician always warns the emperor about?'
Vura nodded.
Xiera' eyes widened.
Her jaw dropped to the floor.
'Then do something about it, both of you!' Xiera panicked.
'Do not panic Xiera!' Hyeera said to her in a sharp voice that betrayed her own fear.
'Just do something!' Xiera continued to say, not caring for Hyeera's advice.
'Unfortunately, this is not something that I can handle," she said.
Xiera almost choked on the fear that wrapped tightly around her neck.
Her eyes were wide with terror.
"I'm afraid it's impossible," Hyeera continued to say in a small voice.
She had seen the lady like this once.
She didn't dare go near her when she was like this, ever.
She had not the courage.
'Call Matrix!' Vura added in panic.
She was even more unsettled than Xiera though she was of the Lady's species.
Hyeera cursed out loud at their actions.
'Bunch of fools! Even Matrix can not handle this Vura and you should know that!"
Vura flinched.
"This is the voice of the Nisus, calling out to her beast!' she snapped at Vura who was fast losing her composure.
'Then who can handle this?!' Xiera shrieked at her.
'The Emperor,' Vura whispered, returning to her senses.
Reality washed over her.
"The emperor?" Xiera asked.
Hyeera nodded.
'But, he is so far away...' Xiera began to say.
But all were cut short by their mistress' voice.
"Izhxel."
They all turned to her.
'Izhxel,' she said softly, once again, easily breaking free of them.
Hyeera quickly went and barred the door.
All of them were alert at that moment.
Her eyes gleamed, ox blood, calcined with the strength of her blood lust.
She groaned, thirsty, needy for just one thing.
Spams made her body didder, bringing acute pain.
She cringed with the pain.
Her beast was awake.
It had fully returned.
