After leaving Chloe, Edward returned to the room where Layla and the others were waiting.
They needed only a few more minutes before they could leave. Layla made a final check of her appearance, while Samara quietly fixed her hair and gown, she wanted to look perfect besides Edward after all.
The three banshees remained behind obviously; only the two of them would accompany Edward upstairs.
They had arrived late already. His conversation with Chloe had delayed them further, and neither Layla nor Samara had shown much urgency about joining the gathering immediately.
Edward certainly had no complaints.
As far as he was concerned, most of the evening was a formality. Had attending the ceremony been his only reason for coming, he might have found something better to do.

Whatever doubts he still had about her return, he could not keep letting her believe she had lost her entire family.
