Two days ago, something expected happened. The little lie William told to Lang—the excuse about being sent on a mission by a mysterious master—was finally discovered by Berry's uncle. The deception had been a thin veil at best, meant only to buy William enough time to slip into the forest.
When Lang realised that William had lied to him, he was instantly enraged. The loss of face in front of his peers was bad enough, but the fact that a lowly porter had played him for a fool was an insult he couldn't stomach.
He searched the entire academy upside down, dragging his men through the dormitories, the kitchens, and the training grounds, looking for William without a single trace found of the latter.
Such results made the image of William far worse than any porter would have and pushed many unsightly suspicions into the heads of the higher-ups of Berry's clan, the Long clan.
