Soon, the different scents gathered by its three tongues appeared in Charles's mind.
As it first ascended, the air grew very cold. It tasted strange molecules in the air—tiny living things—which made it hold its breath.
Charles remembered this place. It was the exact point where the eye he had placed on the creature failed.
The Feathered Snake continued to fly upward, encountering many hardships along the way. The siblings that had ascended with it either died or mutated, gradually leaving it all alone.
The higher it went, the weaker gravity became. Eventually, it could glide for over ten minutes with just a single, powerful flap of its wings.
