Tentacles burrowed into the body of Dawn One, networks of red and purple capillaries spreading like eagle claws over its ring-shaped form. It was denied the right to make a sound, as Charles had removed that ability. The same treatment was given to the five Dawn Ghosts who had only just received their new bodies.
Lily lifted her head, staring up at the shocking scene unfolding above her. She murmured, "Without Dawn One, there will be no sunlight for Hope Island."
The entire island began to tremble, and Charles' voice circled around Lily. "Are you still worrying about them? It doesn't matter. Less sunlight just means fewer idiots dying from sunstroke every year. And without banana trees or various fruits, we can still plant black rye grass. No one will starve; the islanders will just be a little panicked. Compared to your situation, all this is trivial."
