James was about to leave when he felt his daughter tugging at his collar. "Daddy, can I ask you for something?"
"What is it? Go ahead. As long as my little star wants it, I'll say yes!"
"Can you give me two coins? If that's too much, one is fine."
James looked utterly surprised. Why was his daughter suddenly asking for money? As his child, she never lacked anything.
"I want to use the coins to buy snacks at the school gate. Those things smell so good."
"Sweetheart, that food is dirty—you might get a stomach ache." James looked troubled.
The little girl immediately pleaded, "But why can Emma and the others eat them? They didn't get sick."
Seeing his daughter's expression, James felt his heart melt. "Alright, alright. You can ride with me, and I'll buy you whatever you want."
Hugging his daughter, who was planting kisses on his cheek, James walked happily into the living room, where breakfast was ready.
