The rotting electric poles slowly rose out of the water. It wasn't just a single one; dragged by their tattered, hanging wires, other submerged poles also began to stand up, one by one.
These electric pole monsters were gaunt and skeletal, their entire bodies covered in shriveled, rust-colored metal. Their limbs were grotesquely long and thin, with arms as long as their legs, at the ends of which were huge, emaciated hands. Like mummified corpses, their bodies were draped with barnacles and coral. Evidently, they had spent a long time submerged. And their heads—their heads were not simply replaced by poles. Amid the forest of hundreds of electric poles, a few decayed loudspeakers tainted with copper green and some smokestacks were scattered here and there.
These mysterious humanoid beings stood motionless, encircling the Hope Island Navy fleet as an unsettling gray mist began to seep across the cold seawater.
