The Narwhal hovered motionless in the depths of the dark void, as if waiting for something.
Charles, his single eye narrowed and brow furrowed, stared at the circular Foundation communicator in his hand. He pressed his thumb lightly on it, but Feierbahah, who was supposed to contact him, still did not appear.
This shouldn't be happening. If there was no signal at the border because of the distance, that would be one thing—but we're close enough now. Why is there still no response? Did something happen to them?
The thought sent a ripple of unease through Charles's heart. At this critical moment, nothing could go wrong.
